William 'Pete' Schwartz, Building Crafts part-owner
William A. "Pete" Schwartz, 90, of Fort Thomas, retired part-own er of Building Crafts Inc. in New port, died Tuesday at his daugh ter's home in Butler.
He worked as office manager of Building Crafts, a construction company now located in Wilder.
Mr. Schwartz was an Army sergeant during World War II. Sta tioned in England, he loaded supplies on ships for the D-Day invasion.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Court Catholic Order of Foresters.
"He was an avid reader, " said his daughter, Jan Lester of Butler. "He read everything he could get his hands on. That's how he learned.
"He didn't finish high school because he had to go to work to support his mother. But he continued to get an education on his own by reading."
Mr. Butler enjoyed fishing, bowling and woodworking. He also was an artist who took art lessons and enjoyed drawing pictures of relatives.
His wife, Dorothy Schwartz, died in 1992.
Other survivors include a daughter, Kay Macke of Fort Thomas; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. William A. Baker, 74, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
He was a machinist at Newport Steel and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Henry Church, Elsmere.
Mr. Baker also served as a district commander of Simon-Kenton American Legion Post 20, was a member of the Ralph Fulton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6423 and was a former Knothole baseball manager in Kenton County.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Baker; sons, Timothy Baker of Erlanger and W. Michael Baker of Florence; daughters, Debbie Billiter of Crescent Springs and Gina Cain of Erlanger; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home in Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alwina Genevieve Bowman, 91, of Walton, died noon Tuesday at her home. She was a retired saleswoman with Shillito's department store in downtown Cincinnati and a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Latonia, and the church's Ladies Guild. Her husband, Dolph L. Bowman, died in 1992. A son, Louis Bowman, died in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Thornton of Walton; three grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark United Church of Christ, 38th and Park Ave., Covington, Ky. 41015.
Gerald Dennis Case, 70, of Silver Grove, died at his home Wednesday.
He was a retired yard conductor for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad in Silver Grove, a Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Philip's Church, Melbourne, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Melbourne, and a member of the PK Club, Melbourne.
Survivors include his wife, Edie Marie Bauer Case; a son, James Thomas Case of Southgate; daughters Pamela Marie Case of Silver Grove and Kimberly Ann Dischar of Alexandria; a brother, Charles Case of Alexandria; sisters, Zelma Reeder of Highland Heights, Dorothy Arwood of Russell Springs and Margaret Reeder of Crestview; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Philip's Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Ruth Mary Ehlman, 76, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights. She was a retired clerk with Liebel Florsheim in Cincinnati and a member of St. Anthony Church, Bellevue.
Survivors include sons, Jeromy Ehlman and Troy Tilley II, both of Bellevue; brothers, Franklin Ehlman of Taylor Mill, Louis Ehlman of Cincinnati and Vincent Ehlman of Bellevue; and sisters, Mary Jo Ehlman of Bellevue and Loretta Ford of Delaware, Ohio.

Shonda Renee Foltz, 40, of Newport, died Monday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Mary Ann Fryman, 67, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a retired employee of 3M Co. and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. A stepdaughter, Alice Carl Thompson, preceded her in death.

William J. "Bus Driver Bill" Fryman, 63, of Bourbon County, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired Robertson County school bus driver and a member of Mount Olivet Christian Church.
Survivors include his companion, Helen Katherine Nickerson; sons, Terry Wayne Fryman and David Lee Fryman, both of Scott County, Vernon Ray Fryman, Billy Daryl Fryman and Tony Allen Fryman, all of Harrison County, and Billy Dean Fryman of Robertson County; daughters, Charlotte Ann Lemons, Debbie Jean Moore, Tonia Fryman McCracken and Sandy Hudgins, all of Harrison County, and Candy Brown of Bourbon County; brothers, Garnett Wayne Fryman and Lorenza Lee Fryman, both of Harrison County; a sister, Anita Jean Buckler of Robertson County; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mauriene Hamm Gilbert, 78, of Williamstown, died Sunday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a retired waitress with Mills Cafeteria in Covington and Cincinnati. Her husband, Herschel Gilbert, and a son, Richard Gilbert, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Ron Gilbert of Crittenden, Tom Gilbert of Union and Jerry Gilbert of Independence; daughters, Helen English of Lebanon, Ohio, Charlotte Ireton of Dacula, Ga., and Linda Edmonds of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Gladys Brown of Independence; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ernest L. Johnson, 63, of Covington, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an employee of Bob Evans restaurants.

Ray W. Lawson, 80, of Bellevue, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights. He was a retired steel worker with Interlake Steel, Wilder. His wife, Dorothy Lawson, died in 1984. A son, James Lawson, also preceded him in death.

He was a retired burner and welder for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Delmar Robinson, 52, of Petersburg, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a self-employed craftsman.

William L. Seifert, 80, of Perry Park, formerly of Covington, died Monday in Perry Park. He was a retired brewmaster of Hudepohl Brewing Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Transfiguration Church, Perry Park.

Jackie Lee Willhoite, 56, of Carrollton, died Monday in Chula Vista, Calif. She worked in the finance office for Carroll County and was a member of Carrollton Christian Church.
