Ollie Poe, 92, 'very easy-going'
Ollie E. Poe, 92, of Covington, whose varied career included jobs as a bookbinder, ammunition maker and housekeeper, died Wednesday in her niece's home in DeMossville.
She retired after 25 years as a bookbinder for the American Book Co. in Cincinnati. Before that, she worked 20 years as an ammunition maker at the Wadsworth Co. in Dayton.
She also was housekeeper for the Covington Ladies Art Club, and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Southgate.
"She loved to crochet and she loved to read, " said Ms. Poe's niece, Shirley Billings of DeMossville. "She was a very easy-going person. She was so sweet and wonderful. She was a great lady."
Ms. Billings said her aunt never talked much about making ammunition.
"She just said it was a job, " she said. "She really enjoyed her work as a bookbinder because she made school books for kids, and she en joyed her work as a housekeeper because she liked the members of the art club."
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Allison & Rose Funeral Home in Covington and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Rachel L. Bredenberg, 86, of Independence, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a homemaker and member of Latonia Christian Church.
Survivors include sons David R. Dramis of Villa Hills, Dennis D. Dramis of Walton, George Dramis of Independence and Larry E. Dramis of New Richmond, Ohio; daughter Diane Wright of Louisville; stepson Richard Bredenberg of Hebron; stepdaughter Ruth Sullivan of Florence; brother Clifford Snyder of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence. Memorials may be made to Regency Manor, 11725 Madison Pk., Independence, Ky. 41051.
Lillian May Calhoun, 87, of Demossville, Ky., died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lawrence William Calhoun, preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters Beverly Ochsner of Demossville and Lorraine Stevens of Dayton; a son, Harold Calhoun of Florence; a sister, Louella Carson of Grants Lick; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of service.
Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery, Auburn, Calif.
Roy C. Devlin, 76, of Park Hills, died March 23 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice, Covington.
He was a former bartender at the Playboy Club, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, Shawn Devlin of Montgomery, Ohio, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, Southgate, with a reception following at the church.
Mr. Devlin's body was cremated.
Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is in charge of arrangements.
Kenner E. Gaylor, 47, of Crittenden, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood following a brief illness.
He was a restaurant owner and well known in the Charleston food service industry.
Survivors include his companion, Jenay Utter, and her two children, Tyler and McKayla Utter, all of Crittenden; a sister, Patricia A. Stuart of Charleston; brothers, Luther Gaylor of Dry Ridge and Emory Brown of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, W.Va. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Pocatalico, W. Va.
James "Dick" Maines, of Dayton, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired service relations clerk for Black & Decker, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Maines; seven sons, one daughter, three brothers, two sisters and 15 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Visitation will be there from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Alice Alma Meyers, 96, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Survivors include a son, Earl L. Meyers, and a daughter, M. Irene Meyers, both of Highland Heights.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Roy Lee Myers, 53, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at his home.
He was a truck driver for C&R; Asphalt.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lou Harney Myers; a nephew, Charlie Myers of Fleming County; and two aunts, Mary Helpensine and Ivetta Barbee, both of Ewing.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wagoner's Chapel Cemetery.

Harold Thomas Wagoner, 76, of Brooksville, died Thursday at his home.
He was a farmer, a member of Neave United Methodist Church, F. & A.M. Lodge, Augusta, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Kirkpatrick Wagoner; a son, Thomas Alan Wagoner, of Owensboro; a daughter, Ruth Ann McCord, of Henderson; a sister, Juanita Wagoner, of Brooksville; brothers Omer Wagoner of Calhoun, Ga., and Donald Wagoner of Floral City, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 tonight, with Masonic services during that time. Burial will be in Neave Cemetery, Falmouth.
