Raymond Bosse, sports enthusiast
Raymond C. Bosse always found ways to be involved in Northern Kentucky sports.
Whether engraving a plaque or trophy at his store, or raising his hands for a touchdown while refereeing a high school football game, Mr. Bosse was in the game or near it.
"He had a heart as big as a city block, " said his brother-in-law, Don Buhr. "He had so much to give, so he was always involved with something."
Mr. Bosse, 60, of Fort Wright, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was owner of Dixie Novelty Co., Covington, and a member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright.
He was a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame, Northern Kentucky Football Officials Association and Northern Kentucky Golf Association.
Mr. Bosse was probably best known for his work in developing the Thomas More College football field while his sons played football at the school, and helping to put together the St. Agnes School Basketball Invitationals.
While his desire to organize and be involved consumed much of his time, Bosse did find time to play golf, organizing many tournaments with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Buhr Bosse; sons, Doug Bosse of Taylor Mill, and Dan Bosse and Derek Bosse, both of Fort Wright; his mother, Jane Bosse of Fort Wright; and a granddaughter.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Thom as More College Football Fund, 333 Thomas More Parkway, Crestview Hills, Ky. 41017.
Pauline Benton, 95, of New Richmond, Ohio, formerly of California, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Dobbins Funeral Home, New Richmond.
She was a retired social worker with the Kentucky Welfare Department. Her husband, Herbert Benton, died in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Barth of Alexandria; a son, Steven Benton of New Richmond; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.
James R. Cameron, 60, of Crescent Springs, died Thursday at his home. He was a service manager with Best Furniture, Fort Thomas, a member of Latonia Christian Church and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include daughters, Tonie S. Cameron of Wethersfield, Conn., Marcia Allison of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Deanna Lyn Cameron of Mount Dora, Fla.; a son, James Cameron Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; brothers, Floyd E. Cameron of Florence and Douglas W. Cameron of Louisville; a sister, Patricia Quinlan of Dry Ridge; and six grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army, 340 W. 10th St., Newport, Ky. 41071.
Milton Fisher, 75, of Independence, died Wednesday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
Fred R. Foster Jr., 67, of Hebron, died at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday at Baptist Village, Erlanger. He was a retired airline mechanic with Piedmont Airlines and a member of Bullittsville Christian Church, Burlington.
Survivors include cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, P. O. Box 182039, Dept. 13, Columbus, Ohio 43218.
Harry W. Hamilton Sr., 73, of Foster, died Wednesday at his home.

Harold E. Howard, 69, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired plumber with Whalen Plumbing Co., Cynthiana, and a retired employee of Cynthiana Country Club. He was a member of Unity Christian Church, Harrison County, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Schanding Howard; daughters, Lana Jean White and Paula K. Howard, both of Cynthiana, and Donna Louise Martin of Berry; his mother, Thelma Slade Howard of Cynthiana; a brother, James W. Howard of Cynthiana; a sister, Lena Schanding of Paris; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
Nancye Lee Lusby, 69, of Burlington, died Monday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a retired administrative assistant.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lusby; a son, Jeff Lusby of Loveland, Ohio; a daughter, Tracie Smith of Edgewood; sisters, Vivian Jackson of Maysville, Joyce Switzer of Augusta and Juanita Halsey of Crittenden; and a brother, Raymond Poe of Augusta; and four grandchildren.

Lawrence Walter McGill, 79, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home, Cynthiana. He was a former radio sports broadcaster for Ashland Oil Co. covering Morehead Eagles basketball, a former broadcaster with WFTM and general manager of WCYN, Cynthiana. He was a former president of the Cynthiana Chamber of Commerce, a former Cynthiana city commissioner and an employee of Wal-Mart. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Johnson McGill; a son, John Warren McGill of Missouri; a daughter, Pat "Susan" Carroll of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Douglas McGill of Maysville and James T. McGill of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Liela Young of Orlando; and five grandchildren.

John F. Patterson, 67, of Venice, Fla., died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday at Venice Hospital. He was a retired salesman and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Patterson of Fort Thomas; daughters, Kathleen Durchholz of Independence, Colleen Lewis of Wilder, Mary Beth Patterson of Fort Mitchell, Sharon Geiger of Florence, Sandra Combs of Mason, Ohio, and Cornelia Schuster of Union; brothers, Charles Patterson of Springfield, Ill., and David "Tony" Patterson of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Faith Patterson of Venice; and 11 grandchildren.

Norbert L. Ridiman, 71, of Newport, died at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He was a retired insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Co., a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Ailene Ridiman; daughters, Janice Arnold of Cincinnati and Patricia Barrett of Beavercreek, Ohio; a son, David Ridiman of Newport; a brother, Erwin Ridiman of Washington Court House, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

James R. Smith, 55, of Taylor Mill, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was pastor of River of Life Worship Center, Ludlow.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Keen Smith; a son, Christopher Smith, at home; daughters, Rene Smith of Bloomfield and Rachel Fox of Louisville; his mother, Juanita Smith of Cincinnati; brothers, Larry Smith of Cincinnati, Gary Smith of Springfield, Ohio, and Rodney Smith of Cherry Grove, Ohio; sisters, Barbara Gossard of Cincinnati and Theresa Seifert of Erlanger; and four grandchildren.

Marion "Steve" Stevenson, 63, of Sunman, Ind., died Tuesday at Veterans Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired employee of Aldworth Co., Batesville, Ind., a former driver with the Teamsters Union and an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Stevenson; a son, Mark Stevenson of Independence; a stepdaughter, Melissa Jones of Sunman; a stepson, Brian Metcalf of Titusville, Fla.; his mother, Anna Grace Stevenson of Erlanger; brothers, Roland Stevenson of Annadale, Va., Donald Stevenson of Florence and Roger Stevenson of Erlanger; and three grandchildren.

James L. Weisbrodt, 79, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Wednesday at his daughter's home in Winter Haven. He was an automobile assembler and a member of Berea Baptist Church. His wife, Shirley Weisbrodt, died in 1991.
Survivors include sons, James E. Weisbrodt of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Joseph W. Weisbrodt and Kenneth R. Weisbrodt, both of Newport; daughters Brenda L. Knowles of Winter Haven, Deborah G. Phillips and Patsy E. Cole, both of Newport; brothers, Kenton E. Weisbrodt of Orlando, Fla., and Robert Weisbrodt of Cincinnati; sisters, Norma Calvin of Melbourne, Fla., and Bonnie Free of Florence; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale, Fla. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Hubert Willoughby, 81, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
