Mollie Green, led 6 generations
Mollie Jane Elkins Green, 96, of Walton, who lived to see five more generations of her family born, died Wednesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence. She had nine children, 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchild- ren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and three great- great-great-grandchildren.
"Lots of people have commented about how many generations my mother saw come into this world, " said Mrs. Green's son, Arthur Green of Walton.
"She devoted much of her life to caring for other people. She lived through the Depression and I think that's why she knew that people needed help getting through hard times."
She cared for her father, a Spanish-American War veteran, for 11 years.
When her husband was laid off from his steel mill job in Newport in the 1950s, she ironed clothes - 10 cents a shirt, 25 cents a basket for flat pieces - to keep her family going.
"That's how she put me through school, " said Arthur Green.
"She was an amazing lady. She raised a vegetable garden until she was 88 years old and canned all sorts of vegetables.
"She also grew flowers, including the most beautiful roses I've ever seen. She loved kids, she loved everybody, she just loved life."
On her 75th birthday, Mrs. Green was honored as a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of Walton First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Freddie Green, died in 1973. Sons, Donald Edgar Green (1944), Walter Ray Green (1961), William Greene (1995) and Glenn R. Blocker (2001), and a daughter, Helen Irene Ford (1984), all preceded her in death.
Other survivors include daughters, Rosetta Green of Monroe, Ohio, and Marie Hodgkins of Moraine, Ohio; a son, Jesse Lee Green of Berry; a sister, Elizabeth Todd of Bloomfield, Ind.; brothers, Walden Elkins of Kingsford Heights, Ind., and Arthur Elkins of LaCrosse, Ind.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Walton.
Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Margaret Bosse, of Latonia, died Thursday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
Mary Jane Boughner, 88, of Southgate, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Her husband, Raymond Boughner, and a daughter, Charlotte Ann Boughner, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Ann Basham of Fort Thomas, Mary Ellen Roche of Berea, Ohio, Dr. Fran Shepherd of Southgate and Karen Yost of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; sons John Boughner of Bellevue, Raymond Boughner of Fort Thomas and Richard Boughner of Cincinnati; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Campbell Lodge Boys Home, 150 Skyline Drive, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076.
Kenneth A. Bruch, 40, of Florence, died Tuesday at his home. He was a second chef at Mike Fink Restaurant, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Rene'e A. Konerman Bruch; daughters, Nichole Bruch and Jennifer Bruch, both of Florence; sons, Kenneth Bruch and Brian Bruch, both of Florence; his mother, Rosemary Schubert Bruch of Cincinnati; a brother, Richard Bruch of Cincinnati; sisters, Nancy Burns-Vines of St. Augustine, Fla., Carol Ann Spare of Columbus, Ohio, and Pat Sulkin of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.
Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church, Covington. Memorials are suggested to Ken A. Bruch Memorial Fund, in care of Huntington Bank, 15 Huser Drive, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011. TLC Cremation and Funeral Services, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Milton W. Fisher, 75, of Independence, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired tool and die maker and watch maker, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Latonia, Latonia Lodge No. 746 F&AM and Indra Consistory Scottish Rite.
Survivors include a son, Mark A. Fisher of Oklahoma City; daughters Vicky Pennington of Williamstown, Sherry Jean Grime of Taylor Mill and Cindy Petta of Moreno Valley, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Schuster of Erlanger; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie High way, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.
Julia Mae Bell Gadd, 83, of Florence, died Sunday at her home. She was a retired machine operator with Crescent Paper and Tubing Co., an evangelist and a member of Church of God Trinity Assembly, Covington.
Survivors include sons Rev. Wendell Bell of Latonia and Henry Bell of Hebron; a daughter, Deborah Felts of Hebron; stepchildren Billy C. Bell Jr. of Hebron, Charles Bell of Dry Ridge, Christine Dalton of Hebron and Imolene Snelling of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington.
Harry W. Hamilton Sr., 73, of Foster, died Wednesday at his home. He was an employee of Butler Products Co., Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Hamilton; sons Harry Hamilton Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., Barry Keith Hamilton of Fort Stewart, Ga., Jonathan Kelly Hamilton of Maysville and Jamie Wade Hamilton of Cold Spring; a daughter, Amanda Jean Haven of Amelia, Ohio; brothers Wayne King Hamilton of Foster and IssacNewton Hamilton Jr. of Sardinia, Ohio; sisters Louise Carpenter of Sardinia, Ohio, Ethel Mae Kenner of Falmouth, Kathryn Hamilton of Falmouth and Hazel Fitch of Newport; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ray Allen Hogle, 63, of Burlington, died Wednesday at his home.
Survivors include brothers Donald Hogle of Miamitown, Ohio, and Douglas Hogle of Melbourne; and a sister, Dorothy Beal of Alexandria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
John Anthony "Jack" Starks, 41, of Sparta, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an inspector with North American Stainless, Carrollton, and a member of Oakland Baptist Church, Sparta.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ligon Starks; sons Chad Starks and Cory Starks, both of Sparta, and Jordan Starks of Sparks; daughters Amanda Starks and Beth Starks, both of Sparta; his parents Tom Starks of Warsaw and Gwendolyn Starks of Somerset; sisters Nancy Chase of Indiana and Edie Starks of Somerset; brothers Andy Starks of Warsaw, Tommy Starks of Sparta, Joe Starks of Florence and Donald Starks of Danville; and a granddaughter.

Carl Starrett, 85, of Ripley, Ohio, formerly of Robertson County, died Wednesday at Brown County Hospital, Georgetown, Ohio. He was a maintenance supervisor, a member of the Ripley American Legion and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Helen Bartley Starrett, died in 1980.
Survivors include sons Paul F. Starrett of Cincinnati and Donald H. Starrett of California; a sister, Bonnie S. Brady of Paris; a brother, Paul Robert Starrett of Miami Township, Ohio; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

William Ray Taylor, 68, of Dry Ridge, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was retired.
Survivors include a brother, James Hetal Taylor of Altaloma, Calif.; and a sister, Pat Abbatiello of Cincinnati.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Baptist Cemetery, Somerset. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Jefferson Updike, 84, of Grant County, died Thursday at the Hospice of Louisville. Arrangements are pending at the Ellison-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.
Hubert Willoughby, 81, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a farmer and a retired employee of Square D, Florence, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris House Willoughby; a son, Kevin Willoughby of Dry Ridge; a sister, Edna Fogle of Dry Ridge; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Jonesville.
