Muriel Beiting, tax examiner
Muriel "Joan" Beiting, 69, of Silver Grove, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at her home, just one day before April 15, a date that surely meant more to her than most people.

Her daughter, Margie Pope of Melbourne, worked with her there and said that her mother liked her job.
Mrs. Beiting was the oldest of 11 children, and she raised seven children of her own while working full-time.
She left for work in the morning as the children were leaving for school, Ms. Pope said. The older children watched the younger ones after school.
"We started supper and she finished, " Ms. Pope said.
The children all helped out with household chores, too. "There were a lot of dishwashers, " she said.
"We were a close family. We did a lot of stuff together, " said the eldest, Nancy Geist, of Cincinnati. "She was a good mother and a devoted wife."
A lifelong Catholic, Mrs. Beiting was very active at St. Philip Church in Melbourne, where she served on the Parish Finance Committee and was a member of the Mothers' Club.
