Alice R. Freeman, age 94, of Oshkosh, died Saturday morning, October 19, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on May 9, 1908 in Fond du Lac to Henry and Amelia (Hunke) Wentland. Alice married
Louis Mueller and he preceded her in death in January of 1953. She later married
William Freeman on March 13, 1954 and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1976. Alice was a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Ionne Berndt of Oshkosh; two sons: Louis (Dolores) Mueller and Eugene (Mitzi) Mueller both of Oshkosh; one step-daughter: Marion Freeman of Nevada; one sister: Elfrieda Herre of Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law: Gertrude Wentland of Lohrville; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, twelve great- great grandchildren, one step-grandchild, five step-great grandchildren, and two step-great-great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, one infant daughter, three grandsons, one brother: Leonard Wentland; and one son-in-law: George Berndt.
Private family services will be held with Reverend Jeffrey Berg officiating and interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial in Alice’s memory is being established by her family.
A special thank you by the family to the staff at Encore Senior Villa for the care and concern shown to Alice during her stay there.

Verna Louise (Raddatz) Bloedow went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2002. She was born in Oshkosh on March 27, 1915 to Frederick and Louise (Holtz) Raddatz. On September 6, 1947 she married
Rueben J. Bloedow at Saint John Lutheran Church of Nekimi and he preceded her in eternal rest on February 13, 1992.
Verna was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ. Before her retirement, Verna was employed at Woolworth Five and Ten Store, S.N.C., Lennox Candle, and was a seasonal worker at Miles Kimball Company.
Verna will be remembered for her labor of love and her generosity to her family. She was the happiest when she was with her family, especially the great-grandchildren, and special neighbors, Tom and Marge Brandal.
Survivors include one daughter: Carol (Donald) Pockat; four grandchildren: Ellen (Paul) Cook, and their children, Bradley and Emily; Michael (Jennifer) Pollack, their children, Lily and William; Thomas (Jill) Pollack, their son, Ryan; Sarah (James) Grota, their children, Matthew and Michael, all of Oshkosh; one brother: Victor (Evelyn) Raddatz; and one sister: June (Carl) Volkman both of Oshkosh.
Preceding Verna in eternal rest are three brothers: Ervin, Arthur and Leonard Raddatz; three sisters: Edna Johnson, Esther Witzke, and Hazel Kubasta; brothers-in-law: Elmer Johnson, Clarence “Jim” Witzke; sisters-in-law: Elda Raddatz and Sylvia Raddatz; several nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. in Bethany United Church of Christ, 145 West 24th Ave., Oshkosh, with Reverend Kevin Mundell officiating. Family and friends may gather on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the church. Verna will be laid to rest at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Verna’s name may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, Alzheimer Research, or Sharehaven Unit of Evergreen Retirement Community.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sharehaven for the loving care Verna received for the past two years and also the loving and compassionate care in her final days of life at Evergreen Nursing Home. Thank you to all the loving caregivers.

Margaret L. Seefeld, 92, of Oshkosh, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Bethel Home. She was born in Oshkosh on August 26, 1910, daughter of Harry and Alma (Medberry) Mallery. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1929 and attended the Oshkosh State College for 2 years.
Margaret married
Milton W. Seefeld on August 24, 1932. They lived in Milwaukee from 1932-46 when they moved to Oshkosh and became associated with the Mallery & Arhelger Funeral Home, purchasing Mr. Arhelger’s share of the business in 1947. It was known as the Mallery & Seefeld Funeral Home until 1960 when they built a new building at the corner of Church Avenue and Division Street, changing the business name to Seefeld Funeral Home. In 1970 they built a second funeral home on Eagle Street and in 1979 purchased the Marquardt Funeral Home on Oregon Street.
Community activities were an important part of her life. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Women’s Fellowship of the church and a former church trustee. She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the Oshkosh Altrusa Club and past President (1967-68), D.A.R., Oriental Chapter #16 Order of the Eastern Star, Bethel Shrine #2 White Shrine of Jerusalem and board member of Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh and Bethel Board 1981-1986.
Margaret is survived by her son; Kenneth (Shirley) Seefeld of St. George, Utah; daughter, Jane (Dr. Anthony) Katsune of Brookfield; grandsons, David (Nancy) and Douglas (CindyLou) Seefeld, John (Betsy) Matthew Goldthwaite and three great-grandchildren. Her beloved husband Milton preceded her in death on June 28, 2002.
A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street, the Reverends Ralph and Carol DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Eagle Street Chapel on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 PM. Memorial contributions to the First Congregational Church are appreciated in preference to floral tributes.

Marjorie M. Nowak, 71, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002, at her home in the Mainview Apartments. She was born in Berlin on January 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Perkins) Baird. She married
McAuley F. Nowak on July 22, 1950 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1983.
Surviving are her son, Gary Nowak of Oshkosh; daughter, Linda Rice of Appleton; grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Nowak of Medina, Minnesota, Sarah Nowak of Oshkosh, Kathy Rice and Kelly Rice both of Appleton; sisters, Martha Wolf and Carol Zweck both of Oshkosh; aunt, Dorothy Wisnifske of Oshkosh; special friend, Peggy O’Brien of Oshkosh along with several nieces and nephews. Her son, Terry Nowak, and daughter, Jackie Nowak, preceded her in death.
Marjorie enjoyed helping out in the kitchen at Mainview and playing games with the other residents.
A celebration of her life will be held at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, the Reverend Clyde Friedman of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Oregon Street Chapel on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 PM. A memorial has been established.
