Harry 'Bill' Marksberry, retired bottler, WWII vet
Harry "Bill" Marksberry, a retired bottler for National Distillery and a World War II veteran, died at 1:14 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was 76.
Mr. Marksberry never married
but he was a family man, with close ties to his sisters and brothers, and their families.
"He was al ways going out and doing things for somebody, " said his sister, Loraine Duncan of Independence.
"He'd put up a light or fix things on the house. He was al ways fixing up his mother's house for her, " she said.
He had an easy laugh and a good sense of humor, and was a favorite at family gatherings. He enjoyed cards and boating and travel.
During World War II, he was a truck driver in the Army and served in France, Belgium, Scot land and England.
He lived on Lewis Street in Covington and cared for his mother until she died. He had his first heart attack in the 1970s, and re tired in 1987.
After his retirement, he traveled out West and had a special interest in the trains that connected small towns.
"He was an all around good guy, " said another sister, Geral dine Beagle of Covington. "He liked to visit friends."
Other survivors include another sister, Kathleen Williams, of Cov ington.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
Additional services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Boyd Funeral Home, Salemky.
Additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Asbridge Ceme tery, Salem.
Ruby Kathryn Bay, 79, of Cold Spring, died Friday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Delmar Ray, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Roger Bay of Cold Spring; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.

Ronald E. Eckart, 71, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a restaurant equipment outlet salesman, a 33rd degree Mason, a member of Florence Masonic Lodge No. 949 F&AM, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Disabled American Veterans, and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Eckart; a son, Ronald Eckart III of Demossville; daughters, Vanessa Whittaker of Walton, Victoria Jacobs of Stockbridge, Ga., and Valarie Lee of Florence; a brother, Keith Eckart of Anderson Township, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Scottish Rite Language Disorder Center, 1553 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011.
Elbert Vernon Moore, 74, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa. He was a food and beverage manager and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Moore of Tampa; a son, Marty Moore of Erlanger; daughters, Peggy Sheets of Florence, Patty Gibbs of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Cathy Ash of Covington; a sister, Betty Moore of Covington; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Tampa. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Local services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery, Tampa.
Mildred Marie Tassin Rios, 80, of Florence, formerly of Louisiana, died Friday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Gilbert Rivera Rios, and daughters, Dora Self and Cora Self, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Penny Black of Erlanger and Frances S. Dietz of Iota, La.; a son, J.J. Coltrane of Florence; a sister, Adeline Melancon of Bayou Vista, La.; brothers, Wilson Tassin of Morgan City, La., and Nelson Tassin of Mandeville, La.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Cremation will be in Southwest Ohio Crematory, Milford, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to: American Diabetes Association, P.O. Kenneth Clayton Roland, 66, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a clerk for CSX Railroad and a veteran of the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Pina Roland; daughters, Debora Poole of Independence and Barbara Stegman of Elsmere; a sister, Eula Miller of Florence; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Virginia D. Sullivan, 78, of Falmouth, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County. A daughter, Rosella Lunsford Sullivan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Sullivan; sons, Ted Sullivan of Cynthiana, Maurice Sullivan of Cincinnati and Roger Sullivan and Marvin Sullivan, both of Falmouth; daughters, Joyce Flaugher of Falmouth and Brenda Afterkirk of Williamstown; a sister, Mary Hester Jenkins of Cynthiana; brothers, Paul Goins of Falmouth and Clarence Goins of Bracken County; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Ann Henry Taylor, 80, of Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence.
She was a retired production worker for Johnson and Harding, Cincinnati, and a member of Wesleyan Christian Church, Covington.
Her husband, Carl Taylor, died in 1997.
Survivors include her grandson, Carl Cope of Burlington; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Cope of Burlington.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.
Vincent J. Trenkamp, 80, of Enochsburg, Ind., formerly of Covington, died Thursday at his home. He was a farmer and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Trenkamp; sons, Hank Trenkamp of Batesville, Ind., and Steve Trenkamp, George Trenkamp, Mike Trenkamp, Tim Trenkamp and Pete Trenkamp, all of Greensburg, Ind.; daughters, Rita Jackson of Covington, Lanie Siefert of Cincinnati, Liz Horstman of Sunman, Ind., and Del Trenkamp and Jean Krieger, both of Greensburg; a brother, Ray Trenkamp of Covington; 35 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Church, Enochsburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Enochsburg.
Annabell Dean Winkler-Stewart, 74, of Newport, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was retired from St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Survivors include a son, Danny Winkler of Newport; daughters, Gail Fields of Florence, Bonnie Winkler of Ryland Heights, Taleesa K. Smith of Cincinnati, Lori Stewart of Newport and Denise Harmon of Dayton; and sisters, Laura Stern and Ruby Kerns, both of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Church, Dayton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport.
Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Fred Harold Wright, 43, of Carrollton, died Thursday in an automobile accident at King's Ridge and U.S. 42 in Carrollton. He worked in heavy construction.
Survivors include his wife, Darline Carter Wright; daughters, Crystal Gayle Wright and Eva M. Wright, both of Seminole, Fla.; stepdaughters, Melissa Abline of Carrollton and Teresa Carter of Clearwater, Fla.; stepson, Chris Robbins of Carrollton; parents, Helen and Paul Wright of Seminole; a brother, Paul Wright Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Lynn Schwartz of St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Burial will be in Seminole Cemetery, Seminole.
