Opal Sprott, former school PTA president
Opal Joyce Butler Sprott, 78, of Covington, a former PTA president who was active in many charitable activities, died Friday at Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger.
She served as president for sev eral years of the Sixth District School PTA.
"She especial ly enjoyed serv ing as PTA president and anything she could do for schools, she did, " said Mrs. Sprott's husband of 55 years, Harry Sprott. "She loved children.
"She had the ability to do many things. At one time she worked as a secretary and as a stenographer.
"She was always compatible. She was liked by everybody who was around her. She was a lovable person and a wonderful woman."
She was a member of Eastern Star and Southside Baptist Church. She also was an honorary Kentucky Colonel.
Mrs. Sprott's hobbies included bowling and playing cards.
Other survivors include two sons, Harry Sprott of Latonia and Michael Sprott of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Gerald Butler, of Blan chester, Ohio, and two grandchild ren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home in Elsmere.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church, 15th and Holmes, in Cov ington.
Burial will be at Williamstown Cemetery.
Raymond C. Bradford, 89, of Cynthiana, died Saturday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.
Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
June Carpenter, 73, of Latonia, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, William Carpenter; a son, Lonnie Ogden of California; a stepson, Terry Ogden of Crescent Springs; daughters, Cheri Oliver of Erlanger and Linda Snider of Villa Hills; a brother, Ed Huber of Fort Wright; sisters, Michelle Parton of Union and Helen Martin of Atlanta; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Frank Gatman, 88, of Erlanger, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday at Woodcrest Manor Nursing Home, Elsmere.
Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Paul Haverbusch Sr., 80, of Cincinnati, died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a member of Disabled American Veteran and a member of St. Lawrence Church, Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, Paul Haverbusch of Alexandria, Bill Haverbusch, David Haverbusch and Kevin Haverbusch, all of Cincinnati; and daughters, Ruth Lacey, Mary Haverbusch and Nancy Menard, all of Cincinnati, Joyce Buckner of Falmouth and Kathleen Berry of Dayton, Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Meyer & Geiser Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
Margaret F. Heideman, 95, of Taylor Mill, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

William H. Horton, 84, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died at 1:46 p.m. Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired security officer and an Army veteran of World War II. A daughter, Grace A. Eichelberger, died in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Berdie Horton; sons, Harold T. Horton of Erlanger and James W. Horton of Fairview, Tenn.; a stepson, Ralph F. Hodge of Cincinnati; a daughter, Betty J. Schulz of Latonia; stepdaughters, Deborah Cole and Mary Quinlan, both of Cincinnati; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Lebanon National Cemetery.
Harold Jay Kingcaid, 79, of Owenton, died Friday at New Horizons Medical Center, Owenton. He was a farmer.
Survivors include a brother, William Roger Kingcaid of Georgetown; and a sister, Marilyn Cook of Georgetown.

Roland C. "Sarge" Lohmeier, 85, of Fort Wright, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired salesman with C. P. Reeves and Sons, Ludlow, a member of Community of Faith Presbyterian Church in Covington and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. His wife, Jewell M. Plageenburg Lohmeier, died in 1998.
Survivors include daughters, Donna Fettig of Fort Thomas, Charlotte Nienaber of Fort Wright and Charlene Hammonds of Trenton, Ohio; a sister, Mildred Edwards of Crossville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Faith Presbyterian Church, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. JoAnn Matracia Meek, 52, of Crescent Springs, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday at her home. Survivors include sons, Curtis Hendricks of Cumberland, Timothy L. Hendricks of Edgewood, Elmer Francis Hendricks III of Mr. Carmel, Ohio, Christopher Hendricks of Crescent Springs; daughters, Tina Marie Hendricks of Amelia, Ohio, and Kimberly Matracia of Dry Ridge; her mother, Mauna F. Dunaway Matracia of Fort Wright; sisters, Frances Ruark of Fort Wright, Donna M. Robinson of Florence and Marie Hiance of Burlington; brothers, August Paul Matracia of Morning View and Gregory M. Matracia of San Francisco; and 15 grandchildren.

Evelyn Long Morgan, 78, of Lancaster, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Daville. She was a retired clerk with Horn Drugs, Frankfort.
Survivors include a sister, Wilma New of Lancaster; nieces and nephews.

Robert E. Palmer, 79, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired bank president with Home Federal Savings in Rochester, N.Y., a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington and an Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Alli Palmer; sons, Thomas Palmer of Buffalo, N.Y., and Richard Palmer of Webster, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Woodcock of Hebron; a stepson, Dean Thornton of Boca Raton, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Marjorie Ruby Peek, 83, of Newport, died Sunday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a homemaker, president of the Erlanger Lionesses, a member of the board of directors for the Triple E Swim Club and DeAnza Retirement Village, and a member of Fellowship of Believers Church, Florence.
Survivors include daughters, Janice Dees of Burlington, Gwen Courts of Mount Orab, Ohio, and Susan Fortner of Georgetown, Texas; six grandchildren and 10 grandchildren.

James S. Prather, 86, of Owenton, died Saturday at Owenton Manor. He was a farmer and attended Owenton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Carolyn Ruth of Henry County; and a step-grandchild.

James Bradley Price, 58, of Latonia, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday at his home. He was owner of Master Lock and Safe Co. and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Price; a son, Delbert Price of Fort Mitchell; and his mother, Beaulah Fluharty of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Wilmina L. Sargent, 83, of Cynthiana, died Saturday at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana. She was a former owner of Sargent's Res Homes in Cynthiana and Berry, and a member of Colemansville Christian Church in Harrison County. Her husband, James F. Sargent, died in 1986.
Survivors include a son, William A. Wyatt of Cynthiana; a daughter, Betty Lou Conrad of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Thelma Sikes of Sun City, Ariz.; brothers, Richard Hardin and Clayton Thomas Hardin, both of Cynthiana; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
Eugene Andrew Valco, 57, of Carrollton, died Saturday at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville. He was the owner/operator of Valco's Meat Market, Carrollton, and Geno's Catering, Carrollton. He was a member of Mother of Good Counsel Church, Louisville, past master of Carrollton Lodge No. 134 F&AM, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a veteran of the Air Force National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; daughters, Heidi Valco and Amanda Valco, both of Carrollton; a sister, Susan Anastas of West Mifflin, Pa.; and a brother, Thomas Valco of Pittsburgh.

Henrietta Watts, 99, of Park Hills, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. He was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park. She was a member of the church's Lydia Circle. Her husband, Jefferson C. Watts, died in 1986. A daughter, Mary Jane Dickey, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include grandchildren, Charles D. Dickey of Crestview Hills and Linda "Jane" Enzweiler of Erlanger; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were this morning at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Rosa Stone Wiglesworth, 85, of Cynthiana, died Friday at University Medical Center, Lexington.
She was a retired employee of Hansley Mills.
Her husband, James Virgil Wiglesworth, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Jane Moore of Cynthiana and Nancy Williamson of Lexington; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana.
Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Joe Ralph Zempter, 100, of Falmouth, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
