Howard 'Jim' Duncan, 87, GE jet inspector, farmer
Howard Edward "Jim" Duncan, 87, of Crittenden, former president of the Grant County Farm Bureau, died Wednesday at Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Mr. Duncan worked from the 1940s through the 1970s as a jet engine inspector at General Electric in Cincinnati.
He was a member of the Kentucky Polled Hereford Association, the Grant County Cat tle Association and the Grant County Plan ning and Zoning Commission.
Mr. Duncan was a Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in Japan when the war ended.
"He helped a lot of people, " said Mr. Duncan's son, Tom Duncan, of Crittenden. "He let several families who were having hard times live with us until they could get back on their feet. We just had one, big happy family.
"He did a lot in the community. He took a special interest in helping out children at Crittenden-Mount Zion School who didn't have a lot of money."
Although Mr. Duncan worked full-time at General Electric, he spent a lot of his free time farming.
"He really enjoyed farm work, " said his son. "He raised cattle, sheep, tobacco and corn. He was especially interested in the Polled Hereford breed of cattle."
Mr. Duncan was a delegate to many Farm Bureau national conventions.
He also was active in local Democratic politics.
"If he liked a candidate, he went all out for him, " said his son.
Mr. Duncan's wife, Mary Duncan, died in 1998. A daughter, Wanda Simpson, died in 1995.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ramona Crabtree of Cincinnati; sisters, Rober ta Reeves of Chicago, Edith Hall of Cynthiana, and Mary Rose Gilkert and Pat Poe, both of Park Hills; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Mary Frances Alcorn, 72, of Newport, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a leather specialist and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church, Newport. Her husband, Otis Alcorn, daughters, Alma B. Lane and Hazel Whittamore, and a son, William Alcorn, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Wesley Alcorn of Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Betty Eversole of Newport; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home, Georgetown. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Stamping Ground.
Walter Anderson Jr., 75, of Taylor Mill, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a retired industrial caterer and owner of Walt's Chuckwagon, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Loraine Anderson; sons, Michael Anderson of Quincy, Ill., Pat Anderson of Erlanger, Dennis Anderson of Pensacola, Fla., Mark Anderson of Cincinnati and Kirk Anderson of Crittenden; daughters, Kathy Riddle of Covington and Christine Stone of Florence; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Cremation will be at Southwest Ohio Crematory, Milford, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Henrietta Asakevich, 80, of Corinth, died Tuesday at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of Millstone Freewill Baptist Church, Letcher County. Her husband, John Asakevich, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Vance of Corinth; a sister, Hattie Bates of Freeport, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Rita Jo Barr, 61, of Ghent, died Tuesday at her home. She was a former operator and lift truck driver with Gallatin Steel and a member of St. John Church, Carrollton.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Carol Barr of Ghent; a son, Gregory Eugene Barr of Carrollton; sisters, Debra Jean Rader of Ghent and Linda Lee Swihart of Bedford; a brother, Charles "Buck" Johnson of Carrollton; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Church, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Jean Sweeney Daly, 82, of Fort Wright, died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a teacher and dietician with Holmes High School, Covington. Her husband, Anthony Daly, died in 1992.
Survivors include sisters, Eleanor Rosche of Sacramento, Calif., and Katharin Lipps of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Mary Dolores Wimsatt Delaney, 74, of Fort Wright, died at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a former secretary at Fort Wright School.
Survivors include her husband, Jerome M. Delaney; a son, James M. Delaney of Hebron; a daughter, Mary Jo Marcum of Park Hills; brothers, Richard Wimsatt and Fred Wimsatt, both of Covington, and Jerry Wimsatt of Tennessee; sisters, Frances Nagel and Rita Dryer, both of Covington, Theresa Hansman of Fort Thomas and Margaret Wagner of Florence; and six grandchildren.

John G. Geoghegan, 75, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Hospice Care Center, Lexington. He was a retired farmer and fertilizer businessman, a deacon with Indian Creek Christian Church and a member of Central Kentucky Seniors Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Shadd Geoghegan; daughters, Beverly Judy and Johnetta Kearns, both of Cynthiana; a sister, Mary Alice Pumpelly of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Alberta Haubner, 82, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at Edgemont Nursing, Cynthiana. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church, Butler, Ladies Aid at the church and Pendleton County Senior Citizens. Her husband, Harold Haubner, and a son, Harold Louis Haubner, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Beulah Thornberry of Falmouth; a sister, Leona Berry of Fulton, Mo.; brothers, Raymond Fry of St. Charles, Mo., and Ernest Fry of Corrigan, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mint Hilshorst, 91, of Cold Spring, died Tuesday at her home. Her husband, Howard H. Hilshorst, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Howard W. Hilshorst of Britt, Minn.; daughters, Judith A. Broering of Cold Spring and Susan C. Bell of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. Linda Davidson Huddleston, 48, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God, Covington.

Anna M. Kaelbli, 88, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.
She was a homemaker. A son, Paul Kaelbli, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Muncey of Alexandria; sons, Jacob Kaelbli of Barto, Fla., and Robert Kaelbli of Orient, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Vivian Marie Anderson Ludwick, 61, of Elsmere, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a teacher with Northern Kentucky CAC-Head Start. A son, Todd S. Ludwick, died in 1988.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Ludwick; sons, James Alderson of Florence, Anthony Ludwick and Tracy Ludwick, both of Elsmere; daughters, Roslyn Luke of Cincinnati, Theresa Lud wick and Mary Maury, both of Elsmere; brothers, Paul and Eugene Alderson, both of Elsmere; a sister, Lillie Mae Baker of Elsmere; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Earl W. Points, 94, of Lakeside Park, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired employee of General Motors, Delco Division.
Survivors include his wife, Hallie B. Points; a son, Earl David Points of Cincinnati; daughters, Beatrice Anderson of Erlanger, Cathryn Anderson of Lakeside Park and Rachel Campbell of Elsmere; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Joseph F. Roberts, 77, of Warsaw, died Tuesday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw. He was a retired employee of General Motors in Cincinnati, a member of Warsaw Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Roberts; sons, Barry Roberts and David Roberts, both of Warsaw, and Terry Roberts of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Patricia Riddle of Sparta; and two grandsons.

Norma Ruth Hamilton Ruehmeier, 65, of Latonia, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was an employee of Goodtimers II, Latonia, and a member of Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099 Ladies Auxiliary and Omega Phi Tau XI Chapter.

Margaret E. Lewis Schomaker, 78, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday at Riverview Nursing Home, Cincinnati. She was a retired bookkeeper at Riverside Ford, Newport, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Her husband, Harold J. Schomaker, died in 1970.
Survivors include a son, Gary Schomaker of Cincinnati; sisters, Faye Barrett and Peggy Pricket, both of Birmingham, Ala., Alice Milstead and Elizabeth Fontaine, both of Miami, Fla.; a brother, John Baggett of Miami; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Leland Spencer "Lee" Walton, 70, of Vevay, Ind., formerly of Hebron, died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday at Swiss Villa Living Center, Vevay. He was a supervisor with the Dorchester County School System in Summerville, S.C., a former employee of Sears and Roebuck in Florence and an installer with Cincinnati Bell. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Shirley Joan Bell Walton, died in 1996.
Survivors include a sister, Donna L. Judy of Allensville, Ind.; nieces and nephews.

Thomas J. Weger, 45, of Twin Falls, Idaho, died Tuesday at his home. He was a quality assurance manager with Commercial Creamery, Twin Falls.
