Nellie Lindsey, 87, lived a life of faith
Nellie Lindsey incorporated her strong faith into her daily life.
She taught Sunday school, read her Bible regularly, cooked meals for church gatherings and made a point of seeing God's face in everyone she met.
Mrs. Lindsey died at 8:15 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington following a stroke last week. She was 87.
"I never saw her angry or mad, " said her son, Robert Lindsey of Covington. "She never said an angry word about anybody."
Mrs. Lindsey was born on a farm in Falmouth. She and her husband, James Lindsey, raised two sons. They lived in Covington until 1952, when the family moved to Latonia.
Mrs. Lindsey taught Sunday School at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, leading the class of 9-year-old girls for years, her son said.
She later was a member of Latonia Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Keenagers Choir for members 50 and over. She also was a member of the Young at Heart Club at Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia.
"She always had a positive attitude, and she had a lot of wisdom, " her son said. She was active in mission work with the church and cooked the Wednesday night dinners there.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the state. He died in 1976.
She moved to Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger in 2000.
Other survivors include another son, Stephen Lindsey, of Florence, and five grandsons.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Latonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 3800 Church St., Covington, Ky. 41015.
Nancy B. Hill Clayton, 94, of Covington, died Sunday at Baptist Village Care Center, Erlanger.
She was a retired cook and teacher's aide for Glenn O. Swing Elementary School, Covington, and a member of First Christian Church, Covington. Her husband, Ray Clayton, died in 1964.
Survivors include a son, Harold Clayton of Independence; daughters, Dorothy L. Strady of Covington and Sharon R. Blank of Fort Wright; brothers, Taylor Hill of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Vilas Hill of Florence; sisters, Rebecca Leiter and Onie Blackburn, both of West Carrollton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday at First Christian Church, Covington. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, 14 W. Fifth St., Covington, Ky. 41011. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, handled arrangements.
Delia L. Newberry Ellerman, 92, of Latonia, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Wilbur Ellerman, died in 1969.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Mary Elizabeth McKenzie Giles, 58, of Mount Olivet, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Shelby "Bud" Giles, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Randy McKenzie, Shelby Giles, Casey Giles and Jess Giles, all of Mount Olivet, and William Giles of Flemingsburg; daughters, Lean Fryman and Tina Jordan, both of Mount Olivet, and Vina Powell of Corbin; brothers, Russell Lee McKenzie and David McKenzie, both of Portsmouth, Ohio, Kenneth McKenzie of Covington,
Donnie McKenzie of Michigan and Larry McKenzie of Newport; and 25 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mount Olivet. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Dicey Lucille Griffin, 84, of Latonia, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired accountant and a member of Latonia Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, William Lee Griffin, died in 1999.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Gosney of Taylor Mill; daughters, Darlene Boldt of Cincinnati and Ruth Brockman of Taylor Mill; a sister, Viola Heath of San Diego; 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at noon Monday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
John Hensley, 45, of Taylor Mill, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a member of Community Pentecostal Church in Independence and Millwrights Local Union No. 1066, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, John Hensley Jr. of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Jessica Pauley of Florence; his mother, Audrey Hensley of Taylor Mill; sisters, Barbara Ballard and Irene Schwaller, both of Taylor Mill, and Judy Ireland of Florence; and brothers, Harley Hensley Jr. of Independence, Dennis Hensley of Taylor Mill and Jesse Hensley of Corinth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Pentecostal Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. William "Buddy" Jones, 56, of Newport, died Jan. 28 at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. He was a laborer with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran. His wife, "Kenny" Jones, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Mauri Jones of Chicago; a stepson, Chad Brinkley of Newport; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. Cremation will be at Southwest Ohio Crematory in Milford, Ohio. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Hazel M. Wiehoff Nienaber, 93, of Lakeside Park, died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday at Woodcrest Manor, Erlanger.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Harry L. Nienaber, died in 1978. A son, Ron M. Nienaber, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, Don H. Nienaber of Independence and Tom H. Nienaber of Lakeside Park; a daughter, Jo Ann Meyers of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Sarah Slayback, 64, of Burlington, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a cashier with the Walgreens drug store in Burlington and a member of Big Bone Baptist Church, Boone County.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil Slayback; a son, David Slayback of Gallatin County; daughters, Debbie Slayback of Florence and Robin Slayback of Burlington; and a grandson.

Fay Stafford, 73, of Sparta, died Thursday on U.S. 42 West near Warsaw in an auto accident. She was a licensed funeral director and a former employee of Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw, and McDonald Funeral Homes, Owenton. She was a member of Warsaw Baptist Church and the Gallatin County Fair Board. Her husband, James Stafford, died in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Rees Gilliam of Taylor Mill; sons, Roy Lawson of Wheatley and James Timothy Stafford of Sparta; a sister, Lila Jean Gardner of Lexington; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jean Stuttler, 79, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at Lakeside Health Care Center in Highland Heights. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert Stuttler, died in 1971.
Survivors include daughters, Judith Smith of Cold Spring and Bobbie Hewling of Southgate; sisters, Helen Rawe of Park Hills and Mary Adams of Fort Thomas; a brother, Jim McCarthy of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ruby Mildred Vance, 73, of Cincinnati, formerly of Latonia, died Thursday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Seltzer of Cincinnati.

Edward F. Walerius, 84, of Florence, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Villa Spring Health Care Center, Erlanger. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service supervisor and a member of St. Joseph Church in Crescent Springs, the National Association of Letter Carriers and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille E. Walerius; daughters, Mary Ann Stevie of Florence, Carol Cady of Union and Nancy Brinkman of Covington; a brother, James Walerius of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
