Edna Mae Godsey, hospital volunteer
Edna Mae Jeffreys Godsey of Ludlow, a homemaker and hospital volunteer, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was 90.
Mrs. Godsey enjoyed craft-making and attending church, but nothing gave her more pleasure than children, said her daughter, Shirley Rigney of Ludlow.
"Even when she was very ill and could no longer lift them, she still loved to have babies laid in her arms, " Ms. Rigney said. "It would put such a grin on her face."
Mrs. Godsey had grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to spoil, Ms. Rigney said.
After her first husband, William Jeffreys, died in 1970, Mrs. Godsey became re-acquainted with a childhood friend, Ernest Godsey.
"Ernie called her and said, 'I've got the donuts if you've got a pot of coffee, ' " Ms. Rigney said. In 1976, the couple - both in their 60s - married, but Mr. Godsey died just 17 months later.
Mrs. Godsey was a volunteer floral arranger with Booth Hospital in Covington and a former board member at the Wesley United Methodist Church of Ludlow. She also was a member of United Methodist Women and the Kenton County Homemakers.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Russell Jeffreys of Cincinnati, three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Elmo Spencer Adams, 96, of Williamstown, died Thursday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw.
He was a retired farmer and mechanic, and a member of Fairview Christian Church.
His wife, Mildred Jeanette Adams; a son, Dawson Dean Adams; and a daughter, Geraldine Manning, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Donald J. Adams and Gerald Adams, both of Williamstown, and Ray Adams of Brooksville, Fla.; a daughter, Janet Lester of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Landrum Cemetery, Grant County.
John W. Andersdon, 91, of Alexandria, died Thursday at Saint Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
He was a retired traffic manager, and member of Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department. He was chairman of the Fire Commission for Nassau County in New York.
His wife, Jacqueline Dilworth Andersdon, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Gregory Andersdon of Nesconset, N.Y., Jeffrey Andersdon of Cary, N.C., and John W. Andersdon, Jr. of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Alice Rini of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ervin Ashcraft, 66, of Glencoe, died Thursday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Arnold Ty Bowman, 72, of Newport, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired press operator for O. P. Striver in Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Bowman; daughters, Mary Smith, Joyce Wooten and Melissa Newton, all of Newport; sons, Thomas Bowman, Lee Bowman and Cecil Bowman, all of Newport; a sister, Carlene Thomas of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowman Family Cemetery, Booneville.

Roger Browning, 56, of Alexandria, died Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. A brother, James Browning, died Feb. 11.
Survivors include sisters, Dorothy Cummins of Newtown, Ohio, Mary Phillips of Brooksville and Edna Phillips of Augusta; brothers, Charlie Browning and Herman Browning, both of Augusta, and Richard Browning of Brooksville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Augusta.
Johnny W. Byrd Jr., 38, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday in Scioto County, Ohio. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary Ray and Robert Hamer of Cincinnati; a sister, Kim Hamer of Cincinnati; a brother, Robert Hamer of Cincinnati; and grandmother, Sarah Alice Burton of Newport.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Sunday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Kelli L. Couch, 41, of Warsaw, died Wednesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Bowling of Glencoe; a son, Chris Wilhoite of Glencoe; her parents, Russell Hall and Lillie Maxwell, both of Warsaw; sisters, Sharon Baker of Carrollton and Debbie Jenkins of Louisville; a brother, Ron Hall of LaGrange; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.
Wilma M. Decker, 97, of Newport, died at noon Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Fort Thomas, and the church Ladies Guild.
Her husband, Calvin W. Decker, died in 1975. A daughter, Valerie J. Jester, died in 2000. A stepson, John Decker, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, LeRoy Decker of Cincinnati; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Highland cemetery Chapel, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Ruth Bridewell Goetz, 81, of Cold Spring, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at Carmel Manor, Fort Thomas.
She was a retired money room clerk with Disabled American Veterans in Cold Spring, and a charter member of the Highland Heights Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Mary's Ladies Society at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Her husband, Sylvester C. "Bud" Goetz, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Goetz of Highland Heights; sisters, Wanda Firth of Cincinnati and Virginia Cropper of Florence; a brother, Charles Bridewell of Highland Heights; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Ollie Lee Lawrence, 95, of Hammersville, Ohio, died Thursday at the Villa Georgetown in Georgetown, Ohio.
She was a member of Sardis Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ocel "Oak" Lawrence; and sons, Charles Lawrence and William G. Lawrence.
Survivors include sons, Allen Eugene Lawrence of May's Lick, Colvin Lawrence of Bethel, Ohio, Alva LeRoy Lawrence of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Robert D. Lawrence of Hammersville, Ohio; daughters, Ruth Cracraft of Norwood, Ohio, Sandra Carol Hamm of Georgetown, Ohio, and Dorothy Rigg of Maysville; sisters, Bonnie Goff of Dayton, Ohio, and Florence Rogers of Maysville. 29 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Helen W. McDowell, 71, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind.
She was a retired nurse with Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, and a member of Carroll ton First Baptist Church, Rebecca Lodge of Carrollton and the Carrollton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Arthur McDowell, died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Jack McDowell of Carrollton; daughters, Donetta Carter of Carrollton and Betty Hawkins of Middletown; brothers, Raymond Davis of New Richmond, Ohio, Roy Davis of Hanover, Ind., David Webster of Glencoe and Carl Daniel "Danny" Webster of Carrollton; sisters, Ruby Dally of Highland Heights, June Foster of Fortville, Ind., Janice Peelman of Madison, Ind., and Janie Paugh of Columbus, Ind.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Louise Schmidtz, 89, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood. She was a cafeteria worker at Brookville Elementary School in Brookville, Ind., and a member of the Brookville Eastern Star Chapter.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday at Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mother of God Church, Covington, and the church's Ladies Society and Golden Age groups.
Survivors include her husband, George L. Zerhusen; sons, George Joseph Zerhusen of Villa Hills, William Edward Zerhusen of Fort Mitchell, Edward Vincent Zerhusen of Taylor Mill and Mark Anthony Zerhusen of Latonia; daughters, Mary Therese Kersting of Erlanger and Anita Marie Zerhusen of Florence; brothers, Howard Lonnemann of Cincinnati, Joseph I.
