Grace Dickman, worked hard for family
Grace E. Dickman had been married
only three years when her 25-year-old husband died.
Suddenly single and with two children under 3 to support, she went to work.
Mrs. Dickman went through a number of jobs to make money to raise her children. She worked at Baldwin Pianos, glueing felt to the hammers that strike the keys. She sold clothes at Pogue's department store. Then, for 20 years, she was the secretary to the chef of the Gibson Hotel in Cincinnati.
"She was quite a trooper, " her daughter, Vivian Ezell, of Cincinnati, said. "She worked all her life."
Mrs. Dickman, 96, of Crescent Springs, died Sunday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.
She later remarried, but after her son and daughter were already grown. Then, she helped rais ed one of Mrs. Ezell's sons as well.
Mrs. Dickman was an independent woman who lived in an apartment on her own and continued driving until she was 94.
"She used to take her friends all around Crescent Springs, " Ms. Ezell said. "She loved tha t little town. She loved that apartment. She just loved life."
Mrs. Dickman was a member of Crescent Springs Baptist Church.
Other survivors include stepdaughters, Margaret Walsh of Lakeside Park, Ky., Edna Jones of Erlanger, Ky., Dorothy Russo and Mary Ann Keme, both of Cincinnati, and Joyce Traynor of Fort Mitchell, Ky; and 18 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crescent Springs Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.
Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Withamsville, Ohio.
Martha E. Arnsparger, 75, of Latonia died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medic al Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired accounting clerk with Cincinnati Bell and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include brothers, Keith Arnsparger of Alexandria and Jewett Arnsparger of Nicholasville; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Edith Allene Buddenberg, 85, of Greendale, Ind., died Sunday in Lawrenceburg, Ind.
She was an employee of Seagrams and Schenley distilleries, a janitor with Homestead School, and a carrier with the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Buddenberg; sons, Guy L. Buddenberg of Greendale and Roger T. Buddenberg of Grove City, Ohio; a sister, Jenny Daugherty of Greendale; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

John E. Carl, 54, of Villa Hills, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a senior systems analyst with IBM, Cincinnati.
Survivors include brothers, Richard Carl of Florence and David Carl of Cincinnati; and a sister, Mary Jo Winkler of Latonia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Hildrie Sanford Cummins, 86, of Cincinnati, died Sunday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a truck driver and an Army veteran. A daughter, Patricia Kay Cummins, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Dottie, Linda, Joyce and Judy Cummins, all of Cincinnati; sons, Tyrone, Kenny and Tony Cummins, all of Cincinnati; sisters, Alvah Cummins and Selena Hoffman, both of Florida, Mildred Hatfield of Alexandria and Maggie Nickerson of Cincinnati; a brother, Wilbur Cummins of Louisville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation wi ll be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Mays Lick. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Vica Malee Hargett, 104, of Maysville, died at 11 p.m. Sunday at Maysville Extended Care Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Her husband, William Hargett, died in 1955. Two daughters, Hazel Gordley and Gladys Claypool, and two sons, Billy Hargett Sr. and Raymond Hargett, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Viola Cummins of Leesburg, Fla.; a son, Reynolds Hargett of Augusta; half-brothers, John Persinger of Indiana and Russell Persinger of Florida; half-sisters, Jessie Teegarden of Falmouth, Christine Teegarden of Milford and Edith Thomas of Cynthiana; and 30 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation wi ll begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in cemetery on the Hill, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Dolores A. Herrmann, 86, of Erlanger, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center So uth, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, William S. Herrmann, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Marlen e Becker of Otto, N.C.; a son, Gary Herrmann of Villa Hills; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Orville Housemeyer, 91, of Rising Sun, Ind., died Saturday at Waters of Rising Sun N ursing Home.
He was a self-employed dairy farmer and a member of First United Church of Christ, Rising Sun . His wife, Marjorie Ann Hizer Housemeyer, died in 1999.
Survivors include sons, Ivan of Versailles, Ind., Dean of Rising Sun and Gary of Loveland, Ohio; a brother, Bernard of Rising Sun; and a sister, Maritta Kruse of Rising Sun.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Church of Christ, Rising Sun. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Markland Funeral Home, Rising Sun. Burial will be in Old German Cemetery, Rising Sun.

Clarence P. Hutchison, 81, of Williamstown, died Monday at his home. He was a farmer, a member of Dry Ridge Christian Church, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva a son, William E. of Williamstown; a daughter, Brenda L. Homjak of Hudson, Ohio; sisters, Katie Kriegel of Georgetown, Addie Furman of Miami, Fla., and Gladys Boster of Cincinnati; brothers, Raymond of Midway, Marvin and Eugene, both of Lexington; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas E. McMullen, 91, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a self-employed caterer and a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Fort Thomas. He was a member of the church choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Kiel of Fort Thomas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland United Methodist Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Dorothy M. Stacey, 66, of Alexandria, died at 10:07 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Twelve Mile Baptist Church, California.
Her husband, Luster R. Stacey, died in 2000. Survivors include sons, Danny and Donald, both of Alexandria, and Glenn of California; daughters, Charlotte Milburn of California, Teresa Meyer an d Leslie Deaton, both of Alexandria; brothers, John T. Collins of Carrabelle, Fla. and Andrew Collins of Mount Carmel, Ill.; sisters, Ealon Turner of Xenia, Ohio, Grace Kuntz of Goshen, Ohio, Juanita Lockwood, Barb Collins and Nan Rose Collins, all of Carrabelle; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Margie R. Stayton, 80, of Fort Wright, died at 6:45 a.m. Monday at Villa Springs Car e Center, Erlanger. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Charles N. Stayton, died in 1971. A son, Chip, died in 1992. Survivors include a son, Jeff of Fort Wright; sisters, Rosemary Menkhaus of Taylor Mill, Thelma Schlickman of Crescent Springs and Ruth Miller of Fort Mitchell; and five grandchildren.

John R. "Rocky" Wuest, 49, of Fort Wright, died Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a flight attendant with Delta Airlines and a member of Mother of God Church, Covington. He w as an eucharistic minister and a member of the bereavement committee of Mother of God Church.
Survivors include a stepmother, Martha Wuest of Highland Heights; sisters, Deb Cohen, Sandy Hawk and Chris Wuest, all of Fort Thomas.
