Darrell Cooper, 68, youth football coach
Darrell Cooper, 68, of Independence, a longtime sports enthusiast and youth football coach, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood after suffering a heart attack.
He was a member of the Taylor Mill Boosters for 20 years and for many years was on the chains crew for Simon Kenton High School football games.
Mr. Cooper was an avid University of Cincinnati sports fan and family members plan to place a UC jacket in his coffin.
"He was a sports guy, " said Mr. Cooper's wife of 49 years, Betty Ann Wayman Cooper. "He loved all kinds of sports. He especially enjoyed helping youngsters get involved with athletics.
"He had an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. He could keep everybody in stitches."
Mr. Cooper worked 48 years as a salesman and supervisor for Gusher Pump Co. of Dry Ridge. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors besides his wife include sons, Steve Cooper of Verona, Troy Cooper and Brandon Cooper, both of Independence, and Brian Cooper of Morning View; a daughter, Terry Cooper of Edgewood; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Russell "Rusty" Armstrong, 50, of Atwood, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a science teacher at Turkeyfoot Middle School for 27 years and a member of the Kenton County Cooperative Extension Board. He also drove a school bus for Kenton County Schools.
Survivors include a son, Russell H. Armstrong II of Atwood; a daughter, Jennifer M. Armstrong of Atwood; his mother, Mildred Armstrong of Elsmere; and sisters, Jessie Dalton of Independence and Nellie Hill of Piner.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Diabetes Research Fund, 10901 Reed Hartman Highway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.
Paul J. Bamberger, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired manager at Foy Johnson Paint Store and a member of Fort Thomas Retired Mens Club and Sons of Dixie Barbershop Choir.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Bamberger; daughters, Mary Sue Bamberger of Highland Heights, Joanne Feldman of Camp Springs and Lois Goforth of Fort Thomas; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. John A. Brinkley, 61, of Taylor Mill, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home.
He was a retired general maintenance foreman with the City of Covington and a member of Jehovah's Witness East Side Kingdom Hall, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Brinkley; sons, Jef fery Beach of Taylor Mill and Richard Beach of Covington; daughters, Marcie Satchwell of Florence, Shonda Foltz of Newport, Patty Ann Brinkley of Walton and Tina Smith of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Patricia Ware of Crittenden; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

George H. Brown, 92, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at Villa Spring of Erlanger. He was a retired commercial artist with Steinau-Fisher Studios. His wife, Mary Brown, died in 1999. A son, David Brown, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Hicks of Fort Mitchell; and two grandchildren.

Beulah Henrietta Chapin, 83, of Park Hills, died Wednesday at Villa Spring, Erlanger. She was a homemaker and a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Crestview Hills, the Northern Kentucky Watercolor Society, Cincinnati Art Club and Women's Art Club of Cincinnati.
Survivors include daughters, Mona Chapin of Park Hills and Rise Gustin of Indianapolis; a son, Thomas Chapin of Fort Mitchell; a brother, William P. Bullock of Peru, Ind.; a sister, Mozell Stadum of Colerain, Minn.; and two granddaughters.

Katherine Woolums Courtney, 78, of Crittenden, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Willard Courtney, died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Schadler of Dry Ridge; sons, James Courtney of Titusville, Fla., Bruce Courtney of Carrollton, Donald Courtney and Rickey Courtney, both of Crittenden; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

John F. Droege, 82, of Park Hills, died at 3:44 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired wage and salary administrator with Western-Southern Life Insurance Co. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, an usher at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Droege; a son, Ronald Droege of Fort Mitchell; daughters, Sister Mary Margaret Droege, SND, of Morehead, Margaret Kuhlman of Park Hills, Joann Hoppenjans of Sylvania, Ohio, and Terry Harman of Elkins, W.Va.; brothers, Joseph Droege of Covington and William Droege of Cincinnati; a sister, Claire Burlage of Fort Thomas; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ruth B. Eubank, 81, of Crescent Springs, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday at her home. She was a homemaker, a volunteer with St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington and an election poll volunteer. She was a member of Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church, the Kenton County Public Library board of trustees, League of Women Voters, Covington Art Club, Kenton County Republican Women's Club and Adult Literacy Programs. Her husband, Clifford J. Eubank Jr., died in 1983.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Ganz of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Carol Eubank of Black Mountain, N.C.; sons, Clifford J. Eubank III and Paul B. Eubank, both of Crescent Springs; sisters, Mary Bryan and Rachel Causey, both of Raleigh, N.C., Maude Burns and Margaret Mary Bryan, both of Whiteville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary L. Kruse, 90, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Covington, died at 4:55 p.m. Friday at Freedom Village Nursing Home in Bradenton. She was a former clerk with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service during World War II. She was a volunteer with the Brighton Center and Madonna Manor. Her husband, Harry H. Kruse, died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary L. Cummins of Bradenton; sisters, Catherine Michael and Mildred Lucas, both of Covington, and Hilda Detherage of West Covington; and one grandchild.

Ruth Louise Martin, 88, of Florence, died Saturday at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of Florence Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher at the church, and a member of the Florence Ladies Fire Auxiliary and Florence Senior Citizens Club. She was also a member of Central Christian Church in Mount Dora, Fla. Her husband, Owen L. Martin, died in 1970. A son, Robert L. Martin, died in 1984.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Martin of Florence and Shirley Wingfield of Lexington, Va.; a son, Roy O. Martin of Florence; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Manford Lyman Miller, 69, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Newport Steel, a member of Good Faith Masonic Lodge No. 95, Scottish and York Rite, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Miller; daughters, Pamela Diane Padgett and Patricia Ann Moore, both of Eubank; sons, Jerry Wayne Miller of Hanover, Ind., and Manford Darryl Miller of Dry Ridge; sisters, Ena Faye Bowling of Independence and Donna Jean Hamblin of Demossville; a brother, Jeff Miller of Lexington; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alvine A. Nieman, 90, of Fort Mitchell, died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday at Madonna Manor, Villa Hills. She was a retired receptionist and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, and the church senior citizen group.
Survivors include cousins, Mary Jane Hue of Lakeside Park, Vera N. Darpel of Louisville and Harry Nieman Jr. of Fort Mitchell.

James Howard "Shinney" Pauly, 82, of Williamstown, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at his daughter's home in Walton. He was the former owner of the 500 Club in Newport and Apollo Industries, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Lula Pauly, died in 1985.
