John 'Jack' Koch, loved to celebrate
John J. "Jack" Koch, 74, of Florence, loved a party. As the father of seven, grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of two, he had many opportunities to celebrate.
"We always say he was the life of the party, " said his daughter-in-law, Mary Lynne Koch of Florence, who married
Mr. Koch's son, Tom. "Whenever there was a family gathering, he never let there be a dull moment."
He would sing, even dance to promote happiness. "In his younger days, he was known to turn a cartwheel" right in the living room, she said.
Mr. Koch died unexpectedly Wednesday at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood.
He was a retired customer service supervisor with Delta Airlines and a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger. He was a member of Delta Pioneers, Tri-City Seniors and Crescent Squares Square Dancers. He was a Navy veteran.
All seven of his children lived within five miles of him and his wife of 52 years, Shir ley Witt Koch, who married
Nov. 26, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. If a house could have been built to house all his children and their children, "he would have been delighted, " Mary Lynne Koch said.
As it was, the "very young 74-year-old" was content to tell his family corny jokes and dance like a surfer and an alligator with his grandchildren. He also led "Camp Vevay, " summertime days of fun in rural Indiana for the family's youngsters.
Other survivors include daughters, Nancy Geiger of Villa Hills, Diane Coholich and Susan Maschmeyer, both of Florence; sons, Jim Koch and Tom Koch, both of Florence, Jack Koch of Independence and Jeff Koch of Elsmere; a brother, Bill Koch of Erlanger; a sister, Rosemary Rebel of Providence, R.I.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Henry High School, 3755 Scheben Drive, Erlanger, Ky. 41018; or Mary Queen of Heaven Heaven Church, 1150 Donaldson Highway, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.
Lois Ruth Andrews, 87, of Taylor Mill, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a retired nurse and a member of Vineyard Christian Church, Burlington.
Survivors include a son, Walter David Andrews of Taylor Mill; and four grandchildren. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
Clifford P. Bucher, 74, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired customer service supervisor with Cincinnati Gas & Elec tric, a member of American Legion Post No. 410 and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Eilerman Bucher; sons, Ken P. Bucher of Fort Thomas and Doug Bucher of Southgate; a daughter, Karen Bucher of Newport; a sister, Myrtle Wanek of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren.

Tilden James Collins Jr., 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Thursday at Riverview Community Nursing Home, Cincinnati. He was a retired master sergeant in the Marine Corps and a retired employee of Gibson Greeting Card Co., Cincinnati, and Timex Corp., Abilene, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Margie Durham Collins of Cincinnati; sons, Paul Shamblin of Allegan, Mich., Wayne Meinken of Loma Linda, Calif., and Marvin Gee of Maumee, Ohio; a daughter, Dianna S. Sohmer of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ser vices will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation: 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Dianna Louise Frommel, 44, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker and member of Taylor Mill Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Frommel; sons, Jamin Frommel and Justin Frommel, both of Fort Thomas; a daughter, LeAnn Frommel of Fort Thomas; her parents, Howard Scott of Albuquerque, N.M., and Doris Jeffries of Rock Island, Ill.; brothers, Howard Scott of California, Dale Scott of Texas and Gene Scott of Albuquerque; and sisters, Lucille Simpson and Mary Ann Jeffries, both of Rock Island, and Cheryln Scott of New Mexico.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Taylor Mill Kingdom Hall. Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.
Olive Hyatt, 84, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home, Cynthiana. She was a home maker. Her husband, Charles Hyatt, died in 1978. A daughter, Betty Utz, died July 25.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Chalfant of Falmouth; sons, Donald Hyatt of Bamburg, S.C., and Paul Hyatt of Cynthiana; a sister, Lelah Hubert of Williamstown; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation: 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Lottie B. Joslin, 79, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Carlos Joslin, died in 1968.
Survivors include daughters, Connie Aaron of Carrollton and Linda Roark of Cincinnati; a son, Gary Joslin of Carrollton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Edna Elizabeth Kemper, 81, of Latonia, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a retired house keeper for Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
Survivors include a son, Russell Edward Kemper of Bossier City, La., Michael A. Kemper of Morning View and Dennis W. Kemper of Warsaw; daughters, Barbara Stoppelwerth of Burlington and Rhonda G. Owens of Taylor Mill; brothers, Lon Webster Jr. of Independence, David Webster of Nicholson and Jerry Webster of Covington; a sis ter, Bertha Bowling of Florence; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jonathan Franklin Layton, 86, of Falmouth, died Thurs day at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.
Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Martha Jane Linneman, 78, of Newport, died Tuesday at St. Luke East Hospital, Fort Thomas. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Northern Kentucky Baptist Home, Newport, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Dayton. Her husband, Edward Linneman, died in 1994.
Survivors include her son, Michael Clos of Sanders; sisters, Alberta Flerlage and Ceceila Arink, both of Covington; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Visitation: 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling the arrangements.
Michael S. McCoy, 53, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at his home.
He was a millwright with Newport Steel, a member of St. Bernard Church in Dayton and Lawler-Hanlon VFW Post No. 5662 in Newport, and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce McCoy; a son, Shane McCoy of Bellevue; a daughter, Michelle McCoy-Maehren of Bellevue; his mother, Margaret McCoy of Bellevue; brothers, Dave Becker of Hebron and Lawrence LaCally of Alexandria; a sister, Linda McCoy-Gifford of Dayton; and 10 grandchildren.

Nora Elizabeth Giles Rogers, 81, of Connersville, died Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a homemaker and a member of Connersville Christian Church, Harrison County Homemakers and Harrison County Democratic Women's Club. Her husband, Roy Rogers, sons, Donald Clayton Rog ers and James William Rogers; and a daughter, Deloris Carroll Rogers, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Roy Keith Rogers of Connersville; a daughter, Sandra Zumwalt of Cynthiana; a sister, Fannie Coppage of Cynthiana; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beard's Cemetery, Scott County.
