Christine Finn, co-owned three Jerry's Restaurants
Christine L. Finn of Florence handled business matters for the three Jerry's Restaurants she and her husband owned, but always had time to listen to the troubles of a customer.
She was a strong Christian who dearly loved her church friends, but showed great respect for holidays celebrated by a Jewish relative.
After Mrs. Finn and her husband retired from the restaurant business, she happily made a raft of new friends in horse clubs and competitions.
Mrs. Finn just loved people, and people just loved her right back.
Today, the person who loved her the most, her husband of 61 years, is heartsick.
"I've lost the love of my life, " Michael Finn told his daughter, Bridget McGee of Lakeside Park.
Mrs. Finn died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was 84.
Mrs. Finn was reared in Harrison County. "Smart as a whip, " her daughter said, she won an academic scholarship to Transylvania University but had to turn it down because she needed to work to help support her family.
After she married, from the 1960s through the 1980s, Mrs. Finn and her husband owned Jerry's Restaurants in Florence, Park Hills and Western Hills in Cincinnati.
Mrs. Finn was a member of the Kentucky and National Restaurant Associations.
She also was a member of the Bluegrass Morgan Horse Association and the Kentucky Horse Council, largely because of her husband.
He grew up on a farm and loved horses, so, shortly before they retired, the Finns bought a horse.
For years, he competed in horse shows at county fairs and they would ride in parades in their horse-pulled surrey.
Mrs. Finn was a former member of St. Agnes Church in Fort Wright, and a member of Seniors of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington.
"My mom was a very spiritual woman, " said Mrs. McGee. "I think the reason she was so kind to people was she came from very little and she always worked hard all her life. She just was always respectful of people.
"She had a knack at putting people at ease."
