Mary Ann Dedden, loved Christmas
This will be the first Christmas Mary Ann Dedden's family will observe without her.
"Christmas was the highlight of the year because it brought all of the children, grandchildren, family and friends together, and this Christmas will be dedicated to her memory, " said a daughter, Connie Snipes of Covington.
Mrs. Dedden, 67, of Independence, died Friday afternoon at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
She was a former comptometer with Western Southern Life Insurance Co. in Cincinnati, a secretary with Brophy-Maynard Insurance Co. in Erlanger and a bookkeeper with her husband's business, Charlie Dedden's Auto Repair in Erlanger.
She was also a customer service associate with Hess Department Store and J.C. Penney at the Florence Mall, where she sold furniture and jewelry.
"Mom was an avid euchre player, and she belonged to the same euchre club for over 35 years, " said Ms. Snipes.
"She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, but caring and providing for her children was the main focus of her life."
Other survivors include her hus band of 47 years, Charles F. Dedden Sr.; daughters, Debbie Shackleford, Pam Jones and Charlotte Wayman, all of Independence; sons, Donald Dedden of Taylor Mill and Charles F. Dedden Jr. of Independence; a brother, Charles Parris of Erlanger; a sister, Elizabeth McDougall of Edgewood; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

China Mae Stout Bythewood, 83, of Dayton, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a bindery worker with Methodist Publishing House, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, Gary Stout of Dayton; sisters, Blanche Bolinger and Edith Thomas, both of Tennessee, and Virginia Cottrell of Georgia; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, California.
Rosella Daugherty, 81, of Falmouth, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Garndersville Christian Church. Her husband, Russell Daugherty, and a daughter, Tina Daugherty, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Doug Daugherty and Harry Daugherty, both of Falmouth, and Jeff Daugherty of Demossville; daughters, Judy Postel of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Fonda Ester of Falmouth and Pam Hopkins of Cynthiana; brothers, Hoss Bowling of Florida and Bobby Bowling of Kentucky; sisters, Ruby Bingham of Utah, Doris Brill of the state of California, Betty Therman and Midge Brann, both of Kentucky; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Nona B. Day, 90, of Mount Olivet, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a member of Sardis Christian Church. Her husband, William P. Day, died in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Alexander of Mount Olivet; a sister, Sudie Paynter of Mount Olivet; a brother, Stanley "Pete" Brierly of Wilmore; two grandsons and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will begin there at noon. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery, Mays Lick. Memorials are suggested to Sardis Christian Church, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
Velma Marie DeBolt, 73, of Florence, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a housekeeper. Her husband, Leland DeBolt, died in 1992. A son, Eddie Clifford, died in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Ann Fredstrom of Florence; a stepdaughter, Betty Clifford of Mason City, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, and from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. William Hubert Dunn, 77, of Wolf Coal, formerly of Falmouth, died Saturday at Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson. He was a retired Pendleton County Road Department supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Polly Deaton Dunn; a daughter, Rita Jane Crutcher of Hazard; a sister, Cora "Midge" Mains of Butler; a brother, David "Buck" Dunn of Dry Ridge; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Deaton Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery.
Richard Freeman Firestone, 70, of Carrollton, died Saturday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. He was a retired auditor with the Indiana State Grain Commission Department and a former manager of the city of Carrollton Main Street Program. He was a member of the Carrollton city board of adjustments, a member of the Port William Historical Society, was a Boy Scout leader and was the first president of the Knightstown, Ind., Historical Society. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Firestone; sons, Gregory Freeman Firestone of Louisville and Jeffrey E. Firestone of Mooresville, N.C.; a sister, Doris Nicodemus of Mishawaka, Ind.; brothers, Gene Firestone of Osceola, Ind., and Robert Firestone of North Liberty, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

Herman John Hofstetter, 80, of Alexandria, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired supervisor with the Kentucky State Highway Department.
Survivors include sons, Kenny Hofstetter and Gary Hofstetter, both of Alexandria; daughters, Melinda Champagne of California and Wanda Brickler of Alexandria; a sister, Ethel Hofer of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Albert Thomas Johnting, 63, of Falmouth, died Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a truck driver, a member of Teamsters Local No. 100, Cincinnati, and an Army Reserve Military Police Division veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Carolyn Cummins Johnting of Falmouth; daughters, Patti Rogers-Ruf of Neave and Debbie Thornberry and Marilyn Gilbert, both of Falmouth; a son, Alan Johnting of Falmouth; brothers, Lawrence Johnting of Demossville and David Johnting of Butler; and seven grandchildren.

Audrey Lee Leek, 64, of Verona, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Mike of Florence, Ricky and Butch, both of Verona; daughters, Connie Coffey and Betty Moore, both of Verona, and Lou Ann Leek of Florence; brothers, Arthur Connelly and Frankie Connelly, both of Crittenden; sisters, Lydia Mae Mullins and Mary Alice Rust, both of Crittenden, Janet Durr of Piner and Frances Roland of Florence; four grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Janice Lee Martin, 59, of Independence, died Thursday at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Fla. She was a cook with Burger King.
Survivors include her husband, William Martin; a daughter, Laura Martin of Sarasota; sons, William Martin of Verona and Jeff Martin of Demossville; a sister, Charlene McIntosh of Florence; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Nellie Mann Meier, 94, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Robert Harlan Moore Jr., 74, of Erlanger, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired machine operator with Cincinnati Milacron and a van driver with Comair/Delta Connection. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Oller Moore; sons, Robert H. Moore III and Gary L. Moore, both of Erlanger, and Richard D. Moore of Elsmere; a daughter, Brenda Shaw of Florence; a sister, Joyce Lee of Bristol, Tenn.; a brother, Donald C. Moore of St. Marie, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

Richard David Motz Sr., 76, of Covington, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired fireman with the City of Covington. His wife, Ruth Rhodes Motz, died in 1985.
Survivors include sons, Richard D. Motz of Covington and Mark A. Motz of Independence; daughters, Judith Ray of Ghent, Jacqueline Keach and Karen Motz, both of Cincinnati, and Patricia McCormick of New York; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

DeEtta Rust, 83, of Indianapolis, formerly of Erlanger, died Friday at her home. She was a retired dental assistant. Her husband, former Erlanger police chief John William Sparks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Leinart of Indianapolis; three grandson and three great-grandchildren.

James Richmond Taylor Jr., 83, of California, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. He was a retired designer with Riordan Studio, where he worked for 50 years designing stained glass windows. He was a member of California Christian Church and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Eloise Roebuck Turner, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, James R. Taylor III of Georgetown; a daughter, Rebecca Taylor of California; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lloyd A. White, 72, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a construction electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union and an Army Air Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen White; and a sister, Hazel Mahan of Cincinnati.

William "James" M. Wilson Sr., 76, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington, after an extended illness. He was a retired painter with Cincinnati Time Recorder Inc., a member of Williamstown Pentecostal Holiness Church of God and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Hazel Cook Wilson, died in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Gibson of Dry Ridge; a son, Coy Wilson of Dry Ridge; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
