Dorothy Peace Thomas, 94, Latonia homemaker
Dorothy Peace Thomas, 94, of Latonia, a homemaker who reared seven children and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, died Saturday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home in Latonia.
"She had a hard life in the beginning because she had to rear seven children by herself after she was divorced, " said her son, James L. Peace of West Chester, Ohio.
"She had to learn how to do everything. She could not only cook and sew and iron, she also could paint a room. She could do practically anything."
Mrs. Thomas later re-married and enjoyed gardening and traveling to Florida and Michigan.
"She was an outgoing person with a good sense of humor, " said Mr. Peace. "She remained very active into her late 80s. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything."
Sons, Billy Jack Peace, Wallace Eugene Peace and Edwin Paul Peace, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Lois Eagle of Corbin and Doris Rider of Verona; sons, John Clifford Peace of Royal Oak, Mich., and Jerry Ray Peace of Hazel Park, Mich.; a sister, Pearl Leatherbury of Vevay, Ind.; a brother, Tip Davis of Taylor Mill; 25 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
Richard Winter Berry, 56, of Dover, died Sunday at his home. He was a maintenance technician with Clopay Corp., and a member of St. Augustine Church in Augusta, Masonic Lodge No. 80, Bracken County and was a former coordinator with Bracken County Emergency Services. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Martha J. Gross Berry; sons, Charles L. Berry Sr. of Hancock, N.Y., Eugene L. Berry of Augusta, Anthony J. Berry of Maysville and John R. Berry of Brooksville; a daughter, Antoinette J. Rosel of Foster; his mother, Amy G. Boothe Berry of Augusta; a sister, Mary Ann Kearns of Augusta; brothers, William Berry of Augusta, David Berry of Maysville and John S. Berry of Brooksville; 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation: 6-9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, Augusta. Mary Ellen Bohl, 85, of Cincinnati, died Saturday at Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate. Her husband, Melvin Bohl, died in 1986.
Survivors include sons, Donald Bohl of Elsmere, Father Ron Bohl of Cincinnati and James Bohl of Southgate; and three grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Therese Church. Visitation: 3-5 p.m. today at Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
Gillian Collins, 85, of Mount Olivet, died Saturday at Robertson County Health Care Center, Mount Olivet. She was a former homemaker and a employee of U.S. Playing Card Co. in Norwood, Ohio. Her husband, Boyd Collins, and sons, Ray Boyd Collins and Jerry Collins, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, R. Douglas Wright Jr. of Robertson County and Joe Dan Collins of Covington; daughters, Judy Hatmaker of LaFollette, Tenn., and Lisa Jo Collins of Mount Olivet; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Gertrude Kinman Haines, of Owenton, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown, after an extended illness. She was a former employee of Formica Corp., Cincinnati, and a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Owenton Kingdom Hall. Her husband, James William Haines, died in 1981. Sons, Donald Eugene Haines and Danny Haines, also preceded her.
Survivors include a son, David G. Haines of Owenton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home. Burial is in IOOF Cemetery, Jonesville. Jack Kaiser, 75, of Taylor Mill, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday at his home.
He was a retired clerk with the Kenton County courthouse and a former sales representative with with Bimel-Walroth Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill and the St. Anthony Golf League the Kenton County Senior Citizens Golf League. He was a baseball coach with Taylor Mill Boosters and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Dawalt Kaiser; a son, Thomas Kaiser of Taylor Mill; daughters, Susan Vogelpohl of Taylor Mill, Sally Donovan of Lakeside Park and Mary Wulfeck of Edgewood; a brother, Robert "Mus" Kaiser of Covington; a sister, Joan Knasel of Edgewood; and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill. Visitation: 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Elsie Ruth Kenkel, 72, of Taylor Mill, died Sunday at her home. Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Daniel Menefee Lovelace, 29 of Cincinnati, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a condominium manager with Kingston Condos, Cincinnati, and a former member of the Boys and Girls Club, Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Menefee; a son, Daniel Menefee of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Charity Hicks of Latonia; his mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Terry Lovelace of Alexandria; a stepbrother, Timothy Lovelace of Alexandria; and a stepsister, Kristina Lovelace of Alexandria.
Services will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation: 5 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Neave Cemetery, Bracken County.
Jerry Mayes, 50, of Butler, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Eileen E. Pistor, 84, of Burlington, died at 4 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was a retired bookkeeper with an accounting firm and a former employee of the WCKY radio station in Cincinnati. She was a member of Burlington Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Pistor; a daughter, Judith Warren Evans of Dayton, Ohio; sons, David Warren of Dayton, Ohio, and William Pistor of Medina, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Denise Lynn Rachford, 42, of Bellevue, died Tuesday at her home. She was a clerk with Snappy Tomato Pizza, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sons, Adam Turner of Newport, Nicholas Wayne Rachford and James Ryan Rachford, both of Ludlow; brothers, William T. Rachford Jr. and Timothy K. Rachford, both of Alexandria, Ronald T. Rachford of Cincinnati, Mark A. Rachford Sr. of Crittenden and Stephen W. Rachford of Highland Heights; and sisters, Theresa A. Arnold of Alexandria and Constance V. Roll of California.
Services were at noon today at Main Street Baptist Church. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, South gate. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, handled arrangements.
Harold Wayne Roark, 68, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired employee of Manual Arts Furniture Co., Cincinnati, a member of Sherman Full Gospel As sembly in Dry Ridge, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. A son, Todd Roark, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Joe Roark of Crittenden; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation: 5-9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Thomas Sebastian, 71, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a transmission technician with Ford Co., Cincinnati, and a member of the United Auto Workers union.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sebastian; a daughter, Patricia Webb of Independence; sons, Thomas Sebastian Jr. of Bellevue, Michael Sebastian and Berry Sebastian, both of Newport; brothers, Granville Sebastian of Burlington, Johnny Sebastian of Florence and Lester Sebastian of Newport; a sister, Bessie Turner of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation: 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery.
Lillie Hazel Stubbs Wilson, 86, of Frankfort, died Saturday at her home. She was a retired employee of Mallard Printing, Georgetown, and Corinth Garment Co., and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dotty Lou Hutcherson; a brother, Floyd Stubbs of Sadieville; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
