Elsie Ruth Kenkel, 72, registered nurse
Elsie Ruth Kenkel, 72, of Taylor Mill, a retired registered nurse, died Sunday at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Kenkel worked at the former Speers Hospital in DaytonKY and also for Dr. Fred Stine.
"She was a member of the last graduating class of nurses at Speers and she was very dedicated to nursing, " said her husband, Harry John Kenkel.
"She kept up with all the modern advances of medicine and she took special satisfaction in helping elderly patients."
The Kenkels were married
49 years. "I couldn't have done any better, " said Kenkel. "She was a great person."
The couple adopted and reared two sons.
Mrs. Kenkel was a member of St. Anthony Church in Taylor Mill.
"She was very active in the church when she was younger and in better health, " said Mr. Kenkel. "She helped clean the church and volunteered for lots of church activities."
Other survivors include sons Joseph Bernard Kenkel of Sunrise and Matthew John Kenkel of Bromley; a sister, Twyla Jean Boyle of Ironton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas.

Harold Franklin "Buddy" Clemons, 72, of Florence, died Monday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.
Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Mary Lee Dodd, 94, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a sales clerk with Mabley and Carew and Dunkin Donuts, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, the St. Mary Ladies Society and the Golden Age Club at Mother of God Church in Covington. Her husband, Edward P. Dodd, died in 1943.
Survivors include a son, Edward J. Dodd of Erlanger; daughters, Anne Locke of Crestview Hills and Marian Morse of Bethesda, Md.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Neurology-Huntington Fund, University of Kentucky Medical Center, Clinic Room L445, Lexington, Ky. 40536.
David Edward Egan, 53, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a self-employed cabinet maker and a certified instructor with the Kentucky Hunters Association.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Egan; daughters, Robin Lynn Egan of Covington and Michelle Lee Egan of New Richmond, Ohio; a son, Edward Francis Egan of Cincinnati; sisters, Alyce Reed of Cincinnati, Nellie Briggs of Erlanger and Susan Egan of Ludlow; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Ruth Lyons Children's Fund, P. O. Box 59, Cincinnati, Ohio 45201; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Freda M. Courtney Hutchinson, 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Erlanger, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday at Ivy Woods Health Care Center, Cincinnati. She was a former employee of Firstar Bank and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church Choir. Her husband, Harry F. Hutchinson, died in 1966.
Survivors include a son, Gerald L. Hutchinson of Erlanger; a daughter, Barbara Fahnle of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Robert Kline, 82, of Crittenden, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Rick Lawson, 38, of Newport, died at 3:37 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an employee of Tri State Health Care Laundry.
Survivors include a daughter, April Lynn Lawson of Liberty, Mo.; a sister, Rebecca Hevens of Lewisville, Texas; and a brother, Berry Lawson of Aransas, Texas.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Burial will be in Lewisville, Texas.
Daniel Menefee Lovelace, 29, of Cincinnati, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a condominium manager with Kingston Condos, Cincinnati, and a former member of the Boys and Girls Club, Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Menefee; a son, Daniel Menefee of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Charity Hicks of Latonia; his mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Terry Lovelace of Alexandria; a sister, Kristina Lovelace of Alexandria; a stepbrother, Timothy Lovelace of Alexandria; and his great-great-grandmother, Prudie Agrue, of Crittenden.

Dorothy Steinhaus Maloney, 70, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Grant County, Williamstown.

Jerry Mayes, 50, of Butler, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was an employee of Schweitzer Construction Co., Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Mayes; a son, Jerry Scott Mayes of Falmouth; a daughter, Amanda Sue Mayes of Butler; his mother, Mae Mayes of Grants Lick; brothers, Thurman Mayes and Billy Mayes, both of Grants Lick, Dennis Mayes of Cold Spring, Terry Mayes of Alexandria and Gary Mayes of Augusta; sisters, Martha Walton and Linda Sebastian, both of Grants Lick, and Debbie Appleman of Augusta; and a granddaughter.

Joyce Phillips, 74, of Latonia, died at 9:09 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired executive secretary and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Phillips; a son, Mark Newman of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.

Rita Rebecca Pyles, 52, of Carrollton, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of United Pentecostal Church, Carrollton.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Pyles; daughters, Lori A. Willhoite of Carrollton and Renata L. Fields of Woodward, Okla.; a son, Robert L. Cain of Woodward; sisters, Bonnie Albert of Hanover, Ind., Janet Louden of Tennessee, Regina Williams of Lafayette, Ind., and Karen Phillips of Milton; brothers, Randell Phillips of Indiana and Ricky Phillips of Milton; and 12 grandchildren.

Lois Rassman, 71, of Warsaw, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was owner of Moonriver Cottages in Warsaw and a member of Warsaw Baptist Church. She formerly owned the Village Boutique in Warsaw and Carroll Shop, Carrollton. She served on the board of adjustments for the city of Warsaw, and was a former employee of Gallatin County Schools and Blimpie Subs, Warsaw.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Lillard of Warsaw; sons, Wayne Rassman and Michael Rassman, both of Warsaw; sisters, Dulcie Cleveland of Cincinnati, Leola Roberts of Louisville and Laverne New of Eminence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Charles William Smith, 70, of Colerain Township, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Saturday at Clovernook Health Care Center, Cincinnati.
He was a self-employed construction worker and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include sons, Bobby Smith and Terry Smith, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Valurie Eckel of Lenoxburg, Diana Smith of Cincinnati and Barbara Turner of Nicholasville; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Shirley L. Stull, 53, of California, died at 3:09 a.m. Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a retired accounts supervisor with the University of Cincinnati Hospital Dermatology Department and a member of First Twelve Mile Baptist Church, California.
Survivors include sons, Robert Stull II of Alexandria, Ron Stull of California and Randy Stull of Butler; a daughter, Rebecca McElfresh of Brooksville; her mother, Edith M. Hickman of California; brothers, Odious Hickman of Cincinnati and Hobert Lee Hickman of Alexandria; a sister, Millie Ferguson of Homosassa, Fla.; and five grandsons.

Georgia Armstrong Vanlandingham, 78, of Union, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a retired rural postal carrier and a member of Visalia Baptist Church. Her husband, David "D. B." Vanlandingham, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, David Vanlandingham of Union; a sister, Joyce Holmes of Independence; a brother, Bobby Armstrong of Ludlow; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Charles W. Wolfe, 51, of Florence, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a switchman with CSX Railroad and a Navy veteran.

Thomas J. Zumbiel, 93, of Crescent Springs, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was treasurer of the Zumbiel Box Co. in Norwood, Ohio, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Catherine "Mimi" Douglas of West Palm Beach, Fla., Susan Wagner of Union, Linda Zumbiel of Wilder and Sally Waller of Erlanger; sons, David Zumbiel of Fort Wright and Mark Zumbiel of Florence; and 16 grandchildren.
