George Bardo, 70, former Campbell Co. commissioner
George Bardo, 70, of Bellevue, a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and a former Campbell County commissioner, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
Mr. Bardo was a member of Newport Catholic High School's state championship baseball team in 1950.
He served as a Campbell County commissioner from 1974 to 1981.
Mr. Bardo worked as a salesman and later as a security guard with Guardsmark in Cincinnati.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 11 and a member of Bellevue Vets.
"When he was county commissioner, he helped start one of the first drug strike forces in the area, " said Mr. Bardo's wife, Sheila Craig Bardo.
"In recent years he was very active in the American Legion and served as the post's financial officer."
Mrs. Bardo recalled her husband as "a very kind person, outgoing and extremely generous. He was a very special person."
Other survivors include daughters Julie Amann of Cold Spring and Michelle Bracken of Cincinnati, sons John Bardo and Mark Bardo, both of Fort Thomas, Paul Bardo of Cincinnati and Tony Bardo of Melbourne, a sister, Gloria Knephle of Cold Spring, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home in Bellevue.
Burial will be at St. Stephen cemetery in Fort Thomas.

Colgrove, 80, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Harrison County, died Thursday at St. Francis Women's Hospital, Greenville. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Harrison County. Her husband, Raymond F. Colgrove, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Raymond A. Colgrove of Sarasota, Fla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Graceland East Mausoleum Chapel, Greenville. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Greenville, is handling arrangements.
Leon Kaywood Faulkner, 74, of Corinth, died Thursday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Robert P. Gibson, 86, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Grant and Harrison counties, died at 11:41 a.m. Wednesday in Union. He was a retired operating engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers. His wife, Laddy Linville Conrad, died Aug. 2.
Survivors include a son, Robert T. Schumacher of New Concord; and a grandson.

Rose W. Henke, 100, of Covington, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Latonia. She was a retired inspector with Cincinnati Trust Manufacturer, a member of Mother of God Church, Covington, and the Ladies Society there.
Survivors include a niece, Joan Rothring of Crescent Springs; and nephews, Bill Lindeman of Covington and Jack Lindeman of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother of God Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Betty Ruth Jones, 61, of Elsmere, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlena Jenkins of Williamstown; a sister, Joyce Wood of Union; brothers, Franklin Jones of Elsmere and Johnny Jones of Alexandria; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery, Peach Grove.
Janet C. Bickel Messmer, 67, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at Orange Regional Medical Center, Orlando, Fla. She was a secretary with the Internal Revenue Service, Covington. Her husband, Lawrence I. Messmer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Jodi Reed of Fort Thomas and Tammy White of Warsaw; and a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Betty Lee Blum Morehouse, of Crestview Hills, died Thursday at her home. She was a member of Greenview Baptist Church and musician. She was a classical pianist and played guitar. Her husband, Lawton "Pete" Morehouse, died Oct. 3.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Jean Hopkins of Covington; nieces and nephews.

R. Charles "Chuck" Newman, 49, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
He was a supervisor with Nielsen Printing.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Attalla Newman; sons, Rob Attalla of Janesville, Wis., Matthew Newman of Great Falls, Mont., and Joseph Newman of Burlington; daughters, Jennifer McCabe of Norton, Ohio, Kelly Lilienthal of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Sarah Newman of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Sharon Zink, Paula Reese and Jan Newman, all of Akron; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Linnemann Funeral home, Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Co. Memorials are suggested to Ronald McDonald House or the hospice of the donor's choice.
Ralph W. Overstreet Jr., 60, of Covington, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a disabled truck driver with Overnite Transportation, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Overstreet; sons, Ralph W. Overstreet III of Independence and Jerry W. Overstreet of Covington; daughters, Kimberly A. Hall of Latonia and Cheri Staub of Latonia; brothers, Ronald Overstreet of Cincinnati and Donald Overstreet of Latonia; a sister, Kathleen Overstreet of Taylor Mill; and eight grandchildren.

Anna Rottinghaus, 85, of Fort Mitchell, died Wednesday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere.
Helen Anna Seiter, 87, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Wednesday at Residence of Greystone, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Herman Seiter, died in 1964.
Survivors include daughters, Rose Mary Hater of Cincinnati and Betty Sayne of Moores Hill, Ind.; a son, Robert Seiter of Newport; a brother, Bernard Haas of Fort Thomas; a sister, Ruth Feder of West Lake Village, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Bertha Brassovan Szoke, 80, of Lexington, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was a homemaker and a former volunteer with Midway School, Cincinnati. Her husband, John S. Szoke, died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Eva S. Norman of Dry Ridge; a brother, George Brassovan Jr. of Houston; a sister, Isabel Sierra of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Lee Tebbe, 91, of Edgewood, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Crestview Hills. She was secretary of the memorial fund at the church, a member of Women of Evangelical Churches in America and taught Sunday school for 63 years. She was a member of the Cincinnati Garden Club, the Trinity Church Sewing Group, the St. Elizabeth Canasta Club and the Kenton County Republican Women's Club. Her husband, Leonard H. Tebbe, died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Lee Brunnell of Edgewood; a brother, Edward Guettler of Chicago; a sister, Erna Morgan of Chicago; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati.
