Margaret Robinson, dog kennel owner
Margaret Mary Robinson was raised in Newport, but when she was 10 years old she left the big city to spend the summer on a farm.
That summer fostered a lifetime love for animals that would eventually lead to founding a Cold Spring kennel with her sister, Ann Robinson, in 1970. Customers said their dogs loved staying at Robinwood Kennel, Ann Robinson said.
"My sister would talk to the dogs and that would always make them happy, " Ann Robinson said. "She had a way of letting them know that they would be safe with her."
Margaret Mary Robinson, of Cold Spring, died Monday at 12:50 a.m. at Carmel Manor, Fort Thomas. She was 82.
Ms. Robinson also was fond of horses. An accomplished recreational rider herself, she taught her nieces and nephews how to ride.
"She loved to ride and the nieces and nephews just loved riding with her, " Ann Robinson said. "She was always doing something outside painting the barn, going for walks, always doing something. She always was a tom girl. She just loved nature."
Ms. Robinson was a member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring.
In addition to her sister, Ann Robinson, also of Cold Spring, M Ms. Robinson also is survived by sisters Mary Hoffman and Patricia Pitzer, both of Cold Spring; and a brother, Edwin Robinson of Stuart, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials to Passionist Nuns, 1151 Donaldson Road, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.
Luzana Breeden, 84, of Latonia, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Jim Farris of Ludlow, Victor Farris, John Breeden Jr. and Steven Breeden, all of Cincinnati; daughters, Cora Baker of Burnside, Elva Couch of Ludlow and Lela Brown of Lakeland, Ga.; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McKinney Brown Funeral Home, Liberty. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whited Cemetery, Liberty. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling local arrangements.
Robert Lee Emmert, 73, of Ludlow, died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Cincinnati.
Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Eva Farley, 87, of Covington, died Sunday at Florence Park Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Glencoe Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Kennedy of Sumpterville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Diana Lister of Florence, who took care of Ms. Farley; three other grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 14 great- great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glencoe Cemetery. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.
Harold K. Gardiner, 91, of Bromley, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Latonia. He was a retired engineer with Newport Steel and a member of Bromley Christian Church. He was a member of the Bromley Volunteer Fire Department and Erlanger-Elsmere Senior Citizens.
His wife, Margaret E. Wilson Gardiner, died in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita G. Smith of Villa Hills; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bromley Christian Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Eva Sue Casey Kavanaugh, 63, of Falmouth, died Sunday at her home. She was a saleswoman with Lerman's Department Store, Randy's Clothing and Wyatt's Super Valu, and was a member of Falmouth Christian Church. Her husband, Donald Kavanaugh, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Steve Kavanaugh; a daughter, Cathy Kavanaugh; sisters, Essie Mae Patterson of Alabama and Bonnie Fern Seedle of Ohio; a brother, Clarence Casey of South Carolina; four granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Frankie Mattox, 83, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a retired employee of Lebus Warehouse, a farmer and a member of Elmarch United Methodist Church. His wife, Geneva Mattox, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Terry Mattox of Harrison County; a daughter, Patricia Thompson of Pendleton County; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Drake Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Sister M. Janet O'Neill, C.D.P., 94, of Melbourne, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Home, Melbourne. She was a teacher and administrative worker with Sharon Heights Hospital, Jenkins, Our Lady of the Way Hospital in Martin and the Jeanne d'Arc residence in New York. There are no immediate survivors.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Convent Chapel, Melbourne. Visitation will be from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anne Convent Cemetery, Melbourne. Edward L. Polley, 80, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired machinist with Moeschel-Edwards Corp. and a World War II veteran. His wife, Anna Belle Clark, died in 1986.
Survivors include sons, Lelan Polley of Covington and Gordon Polley of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Rose Mary Trapp of Covington; a sister, Ruby Cox of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corbin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
Anna Rottinghaus, 85, of Fort Mitchell, died at 3:15 a.m. Oct. 10 at Highlands of Fort Thomas. She was a secretary in the office of Dr. Bill Mersch and Dr. Ed Mersch.
Survivors include her husband, John Rottinghaus; sons, John R. Rottinghaus of Villa Hills and Thomas A. Rottinghaus of Murray; brothers, Ferdinand F. Mersch of Newport, Bernard E. Mersch of Walton, Dr. William J. Mersch of Union and Robert W. Mersch of Edgewood; and four grandchildren.

William J. Stenning, 77, of Williamstown, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a retired lieutenant commander with the Ypsilanti, Mich., police department, deacon emeritus of New Columbus Baptist Church in Corinth and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Stenning; daughters, Gail Micallefand Carol Pemberton, both of Hammond, La.; a sister, Dr. Mary June Samaras of Chula Vista, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Columbus Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Burial will be in New Columbus Cemetery, Corinth. Aldina Honan Wood, 80, of Brooksville, died Sunday in Bracken County. She was owner of Wood Lumber Co. and a member of South Central Hackney Association. Her husband, Garnett Wood, died in 1993. A daughter, Priscilla Wood, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Garry Wayne Wood of Brooksville and Garnett Leroy Wood of Maysville; a daughter, Diana Lee Buerkley of Germantown; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
