Herman Walton Jr., bartender
Herman Walton Jr. could be counted on to inject humor into any social situation.
"He had a great sense of humor, " said his sister, Beverly Lehn of Fort Thomas. "Everybody liked him."
Mr. Walton, 82, a former bartender at the Loyal Cafe in Dayton and former watch repairman and stone mason, died Friday at Lakeside Health Care Center in Highland Heights.
Mr. Walton grew up in Dayton and served in the Army during World War II. When the war was over, he worked at Wadsworth Watchcase Co., in Dayton until the company closed in the 1950s. He then worked as a stone mason with his father until the mid 1960s, said his sister, Beverly Lehn.
He enjoyed dancing and socializing, his sister said, and during his retirement he worked part time tending bar at the Loyal Cafe.
He kept a collection of baseball-style caps at the bar and would switch caps to suit the conversation, his sister said. He was a good-natured kidder and a long time member of the Loyal Cafe Social Club.
As a young man he was on bowling teams. He also was an avid reader. His health started failing about six years ago, as his asthma worsened.
Other survivors include his sons, Frank Walton of Melbourne and Russell Walton of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Virginia Maxwell of Dayton; brothers, Richard Walton of Dayton and Russell Walton of Fort Thomas; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. MondayS17 at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 97089, Washington, D.C. 20090, or to other disaster relief.
Victor A. Barbian, 82, of Cold Spring, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired salesman and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, Catholic Order of Foresters, and John R. Little VFW Post No. 3186, Southgate. A daughter, Shirley McCarthy, died in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Barbian; daughter, Judith Darnell of Erlanger; son, Stephen Barbian of Alexandria; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Daril G. Jacobs, 56, of Hebron, died Thursday at his home.
Survivors include his sisters, Bessie McAuley of Baton Rouge, La., Janice Jacobs of Butler and Debbie Baker and Evalyne Holt, both of Hebron; and brothers, Leamon Jacobs of Elsmere, Larry Jacobs of Williamstown and Dale Jacobs and Gary Jacobs, both of Covington.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Virgie M. Morris Kiely, 72, of Livonia, Mich., died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.
Survivors include her husband Robert E. Kiely; daughter, Kathleen A. Kiely of Livonia; and sister, Eris Orzwein of Edgewood.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Tuesday at Holy Cross Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mother of God cemetery Mausoleum, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Anna Makris, 72, of Crestview Hills, died Friday at her home.

Anne Belle Moore, 89, of Walton, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Howard Moore, died in 1980.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Moore of Walton; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

John D. Mullins, 76, of Morning View, died Thursday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired office/night manager for ADT Security Systems, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Landrum Mullins; daughters, Patti Anderson of Morning View and Pamela Mullins and Paula Kramer, both of Independence; sons, Mike Mullins of Frankfort and David Mullins of Dry Ridge; sisters, Ida M. Judy of Crittenden and Emma L. Mullins of Erlanger; brothers, George Wilburn Mullins of Dry Ridge and Lloyd Mullins of Louisville; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Betty Taglauer Overmann, 77, of Crestview Hills, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, and the Kenton Heights Woman's Club. Her first husband, Kenneth L. Taglauer, died in 1986.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph C. Overmann; daughters, Susan T. Kahn of Cincinnati and Martha T. Coltharp and Amy T. Fry, both of Fort Mitchell; son, Kenneth L. Taglauer Jr. of Villa Hills; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel United Methodist Church.

Margie "Sis" Smith, 76, of Fort Thomas, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a bookkeeper for Prudential Insurance Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Smith of Fort Thomas; and brothers, Roger Kattenhorn of Bellevue and Carl Kattenhorn of Fort Thomas.
