Frank Stark, woodworker, walker, church elder
Frank E. Stark of Covington was a machinist who loved the outdoors and was devoted to his church.
Mr. Stark worked about 26 years for the Precision Tool Co. in Cincinnati. After he retired in 1976, he worked part-time for the C&C; Machine Co. in Covington and had more time to pursue his hobbies, which included walking and woodworking.
"He had a woodworking shop of his own, " said his wife, Edith Stark. "He made different things like foot stools, baskets and picture frames."
Mr. Stark also volunteered as a woodworking teacher with the Kenton County Boys and Girls Club.
Mr. Stark was born and reared in Chetopa, Kansas. He was a member of Fort Thomas American Legion Post No. 200.
He also served as an elder, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher with Madison Avenue Christian Church in Covington.
"He was very fond of his church, " said Mrs. Stark. "His faith was very important to him."
Mr. Stark died early Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. He was 88.
"He was very outgoing. He never saw a stranger, " said his wife of 63 years.
"He loved the outdoors. He did all our yard work. He loved the little birds and squirrels, and he would feed them all.
"He used to love to walk. When he was still able to walk, he would take a sack with him and pick up pop cans and potato chip bags.
"He'd fill up our trash can and tell me, 'Well, as long as I'm walking, I might as well do it.' He didn't like to see the trash."
A daughter, Sandra Stark, preceded him in death in 1985.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stark is survived by a brother, Robert C. Stark of Craig, Colo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Allison and Rose Funeral Home in Covington.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Juanita Brophy, 79, of Ludlow, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Amy Georgette Reidmiller Caldwell, 86, of Florence, died Saturday at Woodspoint Nurs ing Home, Florence.
Her husband, Charles L. Caldwell, died in 1969. A daughter, Charlene Caldwell Taylor, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Thomas of Walton; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Union.

Kate Estelle Guy Crane, 64, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Latonia, died a t 6 a.m. Sunday in Fort Lauderdale.
She was a Realtor and a member of the Florida Board of Realtors. Her husband, Garvie Crane, died in 1999.
Survivors include her fiance, Dr. Karim Mallick of Margate, Fla.; a brother, Thomas K. Guy of Latonia; and sisters, Gretchen Guy and Martha Guy-Grote, both of Latonia.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Virginia Folk, 85, of Aberdeen, Ohio, and formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence.
Laddy Gibson, 84, of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday at her home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Gibson; a son, Robert T. Schumacher of New Concord; and a grandson.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Irene June Guffey, 75, of Amelia, Ohio, formerly of Taylor Mill, died at 8:25 p.m. Friday at Mercy Hospital Anderson, Cincinnati.
She was a retired employee of the Value City department store in Latonia.
Survivors include sons, William F. Guffey Jr. of Erlanger, Rick A. Guffey of Covington and Michael T. Guffey of Taylor Mill; daughters, Johanna Hill and Barbara Fryman, both of Erlanger, Shirley Walton and Deborah Hayes, both of Cincinnati and Margie L. Wilson of Butler; brothers, Joe Riley of Newport and James Riley of Cincinnati; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Withamsville, Ohio.
Rondall S. Hollingsworth, 44, of Taylor Mill, died Friday at his home.
He was an employee of White Castle and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include daughters, Angela S. Johnson and Tammy M. Hollingsworth, both of Nicholasville, Erin K. Johnson of Lexington and Taylor Jane Hollingsworth of Okeechobee, Fla.; sons, Rondall Hollingsworth of Williamstown and Chance Hollingsworth of Okeechobee; sisters, Linda Gail Coyle and Delores Jean Curtis, both of Covington, and Judith Carol Harned of Kemper, Tex.; brothers, John Hollingsworth of New Richmond, Ohio, and Jeffrey Kevin Hollingsworth of Florence; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at noon Tuesday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Lewis E. Holt, 70, of Petersburg, died at 10:21 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medi cal Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired maintenance worker with Seagrams Distillery, Lawrenceburg, Ind.

Hazel Kitchen Johnson, 81, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home.
She was a beautician, a secretary with Tri-Village Water and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church. Her husband, Lloyd S. Johnson, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Doug Johnson of Warsaw; a daughter, Sue Carol Pennington of Dry Ridge; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery.

Bernard E. Kampsen, 73, of Crescent Springs, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a retired accountant and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cres cent Springs, Happytimers of St. Joseph Church and Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Thamann Kampsen; sons, Bern A. Kampsen of Chicago and Robert E. Kampsen of Seattle; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be gin there at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Howard C. "Smokey" Tustin, 82, of Ryland Heights, died Friday at his home.
He was a retired employee of For mica Corp., Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Dorothy Mae Tustin, died in 1997.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Everett "Willie" Williams, 71, of Covington, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday at Villa Springs nursing home, Erlanger.
He was the re tired owner of Pike Street Appliance Store, Covington, a member of First Church of God in Latonia and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Williams; stepsons, William Bundy of Covington and Robert Bundy of Latonia; a stepdaughter, Lori Davis of Covington; and five step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7:30 tonight at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
