Nicholas Geiger, man of uncompromising principle
Nicholas P. Geiger had two passions in his life: travel and family.
The soft-spoken, religious father of 11 children once worked three jobs to support his family, but still had energy at the end of each day to help his wife with the laundry.
"He taught us the value of hard work, " said Janet Bruns, a daughter from Lawrenceburg, Ind.
"His highest priority was making sure the family was taken care of."
His family says Mr. Geiger was a man of uncompromising principle.
An avid baseball fan, Mr. Geiger refused to attend Reds games the rest of his life because of an altercation with an usher over 60 years ago while dating his future wife.
"He stuck to what he believed in, " Mrs. Bruns said.

After fulfilling priorities to his family, Mr. Geiger took time to travel the country. His favorite destinations included Boston, Washington, D.C., California, Florida and Alaska.
Whenever possible, Mr. Geiger traveled with family, as he did two weeks ago on a trip to Lancaster. Ky
"He remained very sharp his entire life, " said Mrs. Bruns. "He just had an urge to see that part of the country again."
