May O'Donnell, nurse, lived to please others
May O'Donnell made other pe ople her life's priority.
After raising her five children, the outspoken, take-charge mother who
simply would not buckle under pressure worked as a nurse for the next 52 years.
For several years, Mrs. O'Donnell supervised the emergency room at
the old Booth Memorial Hospital, and on a nightly basis, helped people recover from their ailments.
Family members say an incredible sense of humor made Mrs. O'Donnell the best medicine for people visiting the emergency room.
"She really enjoyed helping people, " said Stephanie Susan Baker, a daughter from Union. "Raising a family and then working that kind of job, I don't know how she did it."
Mrs. O'Donnell, 81, of Ludlow, died at 9:58 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. She was also a retired nurse for Interlake Steel, St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington, and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Union. Her husband, Frank O'Donnell, died in 1999.
When ill health limited her mobility late in life, Mrs. O'Donnell still had energy for one hobby: shopping. Most of the gifts, though, weren't for her.

sure in giving.
"Every Saturday we got out for about an hour to do some shopping." Mrs. Baker said. "She really loved her grandchildren, so she often had a little something for them."
Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy Lauterwasser of Ludlow; sons, Charles O'Donnell of Los Angeles, James O'Donnell of Omaha, Neb., and Thomas O'Donnell of Erlanger; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Dorotha Bromley, 78, of Dry Ridge, died Friday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown.
She was an assembler for Schlumberger Company and a member of Concord Baptist Church, Williamstown. Her husband, Stanley Bromley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Greg Bromley of Union; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Wiliamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jonesville IOOF Cemetery, Jonesville.

Walter Joseph Creutz, 62, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Dayton, died Monday at Lu theran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was plant manager with Spartec Corp., Warsaw, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Anna L. Creutz; daughters, Christina L. Creutz of New York, and Audrey Sue Creutz of Dayton; son, Walter Joseph Creutz II of Fort Wayne; brothers, Martin Creutz Jr. of Dayton and Linn Creutz of Palm Springs, Calif., and sisters, Carol Joan Shipley of Omaha, Neb., and Toni Ghadially of Marlborough, N.J.
Services were held on Thursday at D. 0. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne. Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery, DeKalb County, Ind.
Ewell Hart, 88, of Sardis, died at 2:18 p.m. Friday at Meadowview Regional Medical C enter, Maysville.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his son, Bill Hart of Maysville; daughter, Shirley Pugh of May's Lick; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home, May's Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Baptist Cemetery, Maysville.
Dollie Ernest Heisel, 92, formerly of Peach Grove, died Friday in Madeira, Ohio.

Jerry James Hummel, 53, of Ludlow, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medic al Center, Covington.
He was a supervisor for Duro Bag Company, a member of First Baptist Church, Ludlow, and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his sons, Chris Hummel of Newport and Micah Hummel of Ludlow; stepfather, Malcom Cotton of Ocala, Fla.; sister, Carla Ruehl of Morgantown, W.Va.; brothers, Harry Hummel of Cincinnati and Gary Cotton of Florida; and fiancee, Ruth Hufford of Florence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Wilma Wanda Laughlin, 86, of Latonia, died at 11 a.m. Friday at Highlands of Fort Th omas.

Elva A. Lonneman, 96, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at her home.
She was a clerical worker for VA Hospital, Fort Thomas. Her husband, Herbert Lonneman, died in 1988.
Survivors include her sister, Edith Keeler of Fort Thomas.

William B. Lovell, 79, of Bromley, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a warehouse manager for Merlin Cup Co. and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include several brothers and sisters.

Miriam Lichti McNeal, 72, of Cincinnati, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday at Anderson Heal th Care Center, Cincinnati.
She was a retired librarian and teacher for the Princeton School District, Cincinnati, and a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church, Springdale, Ohio.
Survivors include her daughters, Beth Chavies and Amy Cook, both of Cincinnati; son, James McNeal of Hamilton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

He was assistant manager of the Fast Lane Tobacco Outlet, Maysville.

She was an extension agent for the University of Kentucky, Pendleton County, and a member of Christ Church at Eastside Park, Butler.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Parker of Butler; daughters, Megan Davis of Auburn, Ala., and Marla Davis of Butler; stepdaughters, Holly Parker of Alexandria and Heather Parker and Maggie Parker, both of Lexington; brothers, Larry Latimer of Hamilton, Ohio, and Robert Latimer of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.

Emma R. Rochester, 89, of Petersburg, died Friday at her home.
She was a homemaker and a former member of Logan Presbyterian Church, Logan, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Fred "Rusty" Rochester of Petersburg; daughters, Gretchen Fugett of Chicago, and Melida McKay of Petersburg; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will be done by Baxter Cremation Services, Cincinnati.
