Norman Arlinghaus, founded plumbing firm
Norman Joseph Arlinghaus kept his family close-knit.
As the founder of Norman Arlinghaus Plumbing and one of 12 children himself, Mr. Arlinghaus knew how much dedication and hard work was required to raise a family.
He preached hard work to all 14 of his children, his brother, Carl Arlinghaus said.
"He taught them that if you work hard you can get anything you want, " Carl Arlinghaus said.
Norman Joseph Arlinghaus 88, of Edgewood, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
He established his own plumbing business in the late 1940s, his brother said, and ran it until his son, David, took it over 25 years ago.
Family businesses were a trend in Norman Arlinghaus' clan.
Norman's son, Joseph, of Edgewood, owns Arlinghaus Builders, which builds approximately 300 homes per year in Northern Kentucky, Carl Arlinghaus said.
Carl Arlinghaus said his nieces and nephews all learned their success from their father.
"He was a family man and he was always successful in whatever he did, " Carl Arlinghaus said.
Norman Arlinghaus is also survived by his wife, Ruth Luebbe Arlinghaus; sons, Michael Arlinghaus of Richwood, Ted Arlinghaus of Edgewood, Daniel Arlinghaus of Independence, and Patrick Arlinghaus of Burlington; daughters, Kate Chitkara, Ruthann Barth and Lori Cahill, all of Edgewood, Barbara Ellison of Independence, Anne Gripshover of Erlanger, Mary Beth Broughton of Lexington, Gina Gripshover of Burlington and Krista Kahmann of Hebron; brothers, Art Arlinghaus of Fort Mitchell, John Arlinghaus of Fort Thomas, Tom Arlinghaus of Belleview and Louis Arlinghaus of Covington; a sister, Mae Schroder of Fort Mitchell; 71 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Memorials are suggested to Norman Arlinghaus Scholarship Fund, in care of Holy Cross High School, 3617 Church St., Covington, Ky. 41015. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
Esther Agnes Mullins Glenn, 84, of Morning View, died of cancer Wednesday at her home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Goshen Christian Church and its Ladies Missionary Group.
Survivors include her husband, Rich Glenn; sons, Rudolph Glenn, Larry Glenn and Donald Glenn, all of Morning View; a sister, Loretta Haworth of Florence; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Goshen Christian Church. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
James Albert Hardin, 75, of Crescent Springs, died Wednesday at his home. He was a machinist with General Electric in Cincinnati and a member of St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Kehoe Council, Ludlow, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Gerri Hardin; daughters, Gail Ruedebusch and Debbie McDonald, both of Erlanger, Cherlyn Webb of Crestview Hills and Lois Stadtmiller of Edgewood; sons, Michael Hardin of Ludlow, Roger Hardin of Newport, Stephen Hardin of Fort Mitchell and Mark Hardin of Fort Wright; a sister, Hazel Redmond of Elsmere; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Bernard Church, Clementsville. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Clementsville. Nora B. Hicks, 100, of Madison, Ind., formerly of Worthville, died Wednesday at Waters at Clifty Falls in Madison. She was a homemaker and a member of Worthville Baptist Church. Her husband, Floyd Hicks, died in 1992. A son, Roy Lee Hicks, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Lula Mae Kyle of Worthville; a sister, Fannie B. Tharp of Buckner; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Worthville Cemetery.
Dorothy Kahmann, 83, of Taylor Mill, died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a farmer, and a member of Holy Cross Church in Latonia, its Over 50 Club and Seniors Club. Her husband, Paul Kahmann, died in 1992.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Arch Miles Lecquire, 89, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired machinist with R. A. Jones Co. His wife, Lillian Wiedemann Lecquire, died in 1979.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Lula Grace Livengood, 65, of Cordova, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown.

Mabel A. Clark Metzger, 87, of Foster, died Thursday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Butler and Foster, and was a member of cemetery Chapel Christian Church. Her husband, Kenneth W. Metzger, died in 1983.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth Ray Metzger of Juneau, Wis., and Jeff Metzger of Cincinnati; daughters, Diana Cummins of Fort Thomas and Sandra Milner of Alexandria; a sister, Bette Cummins of Augusta; a brother, Malcolm Clark of Brooksville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Beulah Schwalbach NeCamp, 88, of Wilder, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a retired sales clerk with Walgreen's drug store, Newport. Her husband, Herbert J. NeCamp, died on Jan. 18.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Ann NeCamp of Southgate; a son, Thomas B. NeCamp of Akron, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Schwalbach of Newport; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Alice Pauline Titus, 99, of Erlanger, died at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a retired school teacher for Greenhills Elementary in Millbrae, Calif., and a past president of the Women's Club at St. Dunston Church, Millbrae. Her husband, Raymond Perly Titus, died in 1954.
Survivors include sons, William J. Titus of Villa Hills and James Titus of Colvis, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Alice Mavroudis of San Jose, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at Highland Funeral Home, San Bruno, Calif. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, Calif. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling local arrangements.
