'Lee' Miller, operated former Newport cafe
Elizabeth M. "Lee" Miller and her husband operated Lee & Ed's Cafe in Newport for 20 years.
The restaurant and bar was at Ninth and Patterson from 1950 to 1970.
"It was a family restaurant and bar and it was busy because everybody in the neighborhood went to it, " said their daughter, Linda Miller of Erlanger.
She said her mother's personality helped keep the customers coming back.
"She was very outgoing, and loved to have a good time."
Lee Miller died Saturday at the Villa Spring Health Center in Erlanger. She was 92.
Mrs. Miller was born and reared in the Cincinnati area.
After she and her husband, Everett "Ed" Miller, who died in 1993, sold their cafe, they retired to Newport.
That's when Mrs. Miller had time to pursue her favorite hobby: oil painting.
"Scenery was the biggest thing, " said Linda Miller. "She did winter scenes, farms and the ocean. She painted light houses.
"She also sewed a lot and was a very good cook."
