Christina Male, devoted to community
Christina Elizabeth Male was a devoted daughter, sister and worker who reached out to the community.
Having had two grandfathers who died from cancer, she took a job about eight months ago with the American Cancer Society in Florence as income development manager.
"She lived to work, and she was very committed to what she did, " said her father, Greg Male.
Ms. Male, 25, of Covington, died Tuesday at University Hospital in Cincinnati of injuries suffered in an accident in Walton. She was a 1997 graduate of Xavier University, where she was a member of the University Singers.
She also was extremely active in church ministry, sharing her time with the parishes of St. Ignatius, St. Jude, St. Aloysius, St. Michael and Resurrection.
Survivors include her parents, Cindy and Greg Male; brothers, Kevin Male, T. J. Male, Brendan Male and Jonathan Male; and grandmothers, Jane Peters and Janet Male, all of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ignatius Church, 5222 Northbend Road, Monfont Heights, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Rebold, Rosenacker & Sexton Funeral Home, 3700 Glenmore Ave., Cheviot.
Burial will be in St. James Church Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Annemarie L. Babette, 75, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Manor Care Nursing Home in Cincinnati.
She was a clerk with the Hamilton County treasurer's office, and a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ladies Oriental Shrine and Daughters of the Nile Cincinnati Chapter.
She was also a volunteer with Shriners Burns Institute, Cincinnati. Her husband, Charles H. Babette, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Charles F. Babette of Cincinnati; daughters, Liz Sievers of Taylor Mill and Madeline Leonard of Cincinnati; a brother, Carl T. Lange of Mount Dora, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Service, Cincinnati.

Clara Bachman, 93, of Williamstown, died Thursday at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown.
She was a homemaker, and taught music in her home for 50 years. She was also a member of Stringtown Christian Church, Corinth.
Her husband, Joseph Ross Bachman, died in 1990. A son, Joseph Ross Bachman Jr., died in 1962. A daughter, Lois Ruth Dowd, died in 1994.
Survivors include a brother, Alvin Musselman of Wooster, Ohio; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery, Corinth.

Benjamin F. Betz Jr., 81, of Covington, died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday at his daughter's home in Lexington.
He was a retired display manager with Sears department stores, a member of the International Order of Foresters and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Ruth Wilson Betz, died July 3.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Middendorf of Cincinnati and Peggy Watts of Lexington; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Darlene L. Cox, 60, of Dayton, died Wednesday at her home. She was a nurse with Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. A son, Christopher Herbert, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Millard Cox Jr.; daughters, Alicia Herbert of Elsmere, Jen Leeman of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kathy Regensburger of Morning View; sons, Eric Herbert of Highland Heights, Nick Herbert of Cicely, Italy, and Wayne Herbert of Beaufort, S.C.; a sister, Diane Popov of Bellevue; seven half-brothers, four half-sisters and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Eddie Lee Griess, 26, of Covington, died Tuesday in Covington. He was a server with Dee Felice Cafe in Covington.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, J. R. and Sue Griess of Stamping Ground; a brother, Bruce Mullins of Stamping Ground; sisters, Amy Griess and Betty Gordon, both of Georgetown, and Regina Burchfield of Covington; and grandmother, Connie Dunn of Covington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Harlan Hatfield, 85, of Elsmere, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a retired welder with Westinghouse Electric Co., Cincinnati, and a member of American Legion Post No. 20 in Elsmere and Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099, Covington. He was a member of Claysville Christian Church, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cline Hatfield; sons, Curtis Hatfield of Fort Mitchell, Scott Hatfield of Lexington and Joseph Hatfield of Independence; daughters, Lois Varney of Erlanger and Valerie Hatfield of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; brothers, Rooney Hatfield of Cincinnati and Raymond Hatfield of Cynthiana; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Myrtle N. Hopkins, 78, of Columbus, Ohio, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in Columbus.
She was a spinner with January & Wood Co., Maysville, and a former employee of Jockey International, Maysville. Her husband, Clifton Hopkins, died in 2000. A son, Larry Phillips, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Phillips of Maysville; daughters, Barbara Dale of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Linda Flemming of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Frank Nash of Maysville and Howard Douglas Nash of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters, Dorothy Martin and Mary Evelyn Arrasmith, both of Mason County, Elenor Ar rasmith of Fleming County and Ruby McAlpin of Xenia, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brell Funeral Home, Maysville.
James Wilson Hoskins, 56, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at his home. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include sisters, Mary T. Skirvin of Warsaw, Joyce Sanders and Martha Jane Reynolds, both of Carrollton; and a brother, David Hoskins of Carrollton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Jerry W. Lenox, 21, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday in Harrison County of injuries suffered in an auto accident.
He was a former employee of Grede Perm Cast.
Survivors include his father, Jerry C. Lenox of Harrison County; his mother and stepfather, Patty Walker Davidson and Mark Davidson of Lexington; a half-brother, Dexter Davidson of Lexington; a half-sister, Casey Davidson of Lexington; and grandparents, Melvin and Lucy Lenox, Amy and Arthur Barnes, all of Cynthiana.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Lawrence Ray Menefee, 54, of LaGrange, formerly of Kenton County, died Tuesday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital in LaGrange.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Lee Menefee of Florence; sisters, Constance Ann Lewis and Cindy Lovelace, both of Alexandria, Nancy Menefee of Bowling Green, Cora Jean Garrett of Spokane, Wash., and Kathy Lynn Young of Elsmere; and brothers, Joseph W. Menefee of Crittenden, Jimmy Menefee of Alexandria, Steve Menefee and Marshall Menefee, both of Covington, and Randall Earl Menefee of Beattyville.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Funeral Director and Vault Co., Louisville.
