Elsie Schwab, 63, put family, friends first
Elsie W. Schwab worked as a clerk in the engineering department at Cincinnati Bell for 31 years, and when she had the time, the Falmouth native researched her German ancestry and volunteered. "She spent a lot of time doing things with friends and family after retiring, " said Laura Rodgers, a niece.
Elsie W. Schwab, 63, of Cold Spring, died at 6:21 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Before retiring in the late 1980s, Mrs. Schwab did not have as much time. Besides working at Cincinnati Bell, the Cold Spring Baptist Church member volunteered as a member of the board of directors of Recovery, Inc. for more than 10 years, working with the mentally disabled.
Reading and doing research was something that interested Mrs. Schwab, her niece said. During the 1970s she began to research her family's genealogy and traced her father's family tree to Germany. Her research culminated in a vacation there and an opportunity to further investigate the Wagner family's history.
Ms. Rodgers said her aunt was a very loyal and selfless person, who thought of her family and friends first. "She was a good friend. If you needed her, she was there no matter what."
