Aloysius Fedders, 88, hard-working family man
Aloysius H. Fedders managed to juggle work, family and community service into a life that garnered him many friends and much respect.
His daughter, Rosemary Fedders Stein of Fort Thomas, said she remembers her father working hard to develop his business while maintaining his sense of humor.
"My earliest memories are growing up and wanting to be like my dad, " Mrs. Stein said.
"He was the kindest, funniest, most hard-working man in the world. He had a quiet and deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mr. Fedders, 88, of Fort Wright, died at 10:35 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington.
He was owner of Al H. Fedders Refrigeration Co. and a former employee of C. Rice Packing Co., Blue Grass Provision Co. and Serve-All Co., all of Covington.
He was a member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright, and the Covington Lions Club. He was a past president of the South Hills Civic Club and was a leader in the development of the Bluegrass Swim Club, both in Fort Wright. His wife, Mary Margaret Schmidt Fedders, died in May 2000.
Mr. Fedders was a native of Northern Kentucky who spent most of his life in Fort Wright and Crescent Springs.
He enjoyed rooting for the Cincinnati Reds, his daughter said.
"I felt like everyone liked my dad. He was a kind and generous man, " Mrs. Stein said.
Besides his daughter, Mr. Fedders is survived by a son, John M. Fedders of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Camillus Fedders of Crescent Springs and Henry Fedders of Florence; a sister, Sister Barbara Fedders, C.D.P. of Melbourne; six grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Church. A reception in the church hall will follow the Mass. Mr. Fedders bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, Ky. 41011; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Ralph A. Buerkley Jr., 36, of Maysville, died Sunday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. He was a parts clerk with NAPA Auto Parts and a member of Pleasant Ridge Union Church.
Survivors include his wife, Drema Derossett Buerkley; a daughter, Alyssa Buerkley, at home; sons, Joshua Clay and Nick Clay, both at home; and a brother, David Buerkley of Maysville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, Washington. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Barbara Ann Jacobs, 58, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423 Women's Auxiliary. Her husband, Glenn Thomas, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, James Hiatt of Boone County, Ronald Hiatt of Covington, Mark Thomas and Steve Thomas, both of Erlanger; a daughter, Tammy York of Benton; her parents, Alvin Coleman Willoughby of Winchester and Patricia Willoughby of Demossville; sisters, Melissa Blythe of Seaman, Ohio, Patricia Goldizen of Verona, Linda Hartke of Latonia, Donna May Kucerea of Chicago, Jeannie Parker of Butler and Darlene White of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers, Alvin F. Willoughby of Felicity, Ohio, Darryl Hubbard of Latonia and James Hubbard of Alexandria; and seven grandchildren.

Dorothy M. Lovelace, 78, of Latonia, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a retired bookkeeper with First National Bank, Cincinnati. Her husband, Maurice E. Lovelace, died in 1984.
Survivors include daughters, Ida Hicks of Latonia, Linda Hudson of Picayune, Miss., and Carol Brockell of Lakeside Park; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were this morning at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.
Ethel Adelaide Lubbers, 89, of Covington, died at 5:05 a.m. Sunday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Church, Covington. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John, an honorary member of the Covington Turners and Grandmother Club. Her husband, Joseph Bernard Lubbers, died in 1989. A son, Father Thomas Lubbers, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Joseph J. Lubbers of Covington, Robert E. Lubbers of Fort Mitchell and James P. Lubbers of Taylor Mill; daughters, Ethel "Cookie" Chambers, Jean E. Marshall and Judith Ann Kroger, all of Covington, Mary L. Hardman of Villa Hills, Sister Mary Ruth, S.N.D., of Newport, Dorothy "Dot" Trame of Taylor Mill, and Linda Schoellmann of Houston; sisters, Josephine Memering of Cincinnati and Lillian Brinkman of Walton; 28 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Mary Dickey Runion, 74, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was an inspector with Equitable Bag Co., and treasurer of the union there, and a member of Kento-Boo Baptist Church. Her husband, Charles Runion, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Runion of Florence; and a sister, Cora Mae Bishop of Florence.

Joseph W. "Buck" Smith, 85, of Owenton, died Saturday at Owenton Manor Nursing Home. He ws a retired employee of Kraft Foods, a member of Second Baptist Church in Owenton and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Vernell Miles, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Joseph W. Smith II and Mitchell Smith, both of Indianapolis; a sister, Hatie Mae Conely of Muncie, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Mildred Campbell White, 89, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ralph R. White, preceded her in death.

Winifred Waunita Fornash Wyatt, 77, of Owenton, died Sunday at Owen County Hospital in Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of Roanoke Christian Church, Falmouth. Her husband, John Wyatt, died in 1985. A son, Samuel Wyatt, died in 1986.
Survivors include sons, Charles McClane of Jonesville and William Wyatt of Warsaw; daughters, Nancy Stevens, Virginia Smither and Linda Adkins, all of Owenton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
