Frankie Jones, farmer, contractor, magistrate
Frankie Jones was a self-made man who helped build his community in Pendleton County.
Mr. Jones, 63, of Falmouth, died Monday at his home. He was a retired building contractor, a farmer and former Pendleton County magistrate for the Short Creek district.
"He was just a good guy. He got along with everybody, " said Joyce Jones, Mr. Jones' wife of 43 years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Gumlick Baptist Church in Pendleton County and a member of Pendleton County Solid Waste 109 board, Orion Lodge No. 222 F&AM in Falmouth, Indra Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons, Covington and the Pendleton-Grant County Fox Hunters Association. He was active for many years with the Pendleton County Youth Fair. A son, Kenny Lee Jones, died in 1972.
Mr. Jones, a native of Grant County, served about nine years as a county magistrate, his wife said. She said illness forced her husband to retire from public service.
"He worked with several organizations when he was on the fiscal court, and he missed it when he was off, " Mrs. Jones said. "He was a good husband, father and grandfather."
Survivors besides his wife are sons, Ricky David Jones, Robert Nicholas Jones and William Thomas Jones, all of Falmouth; a daughter, Kathy Lillian Lovelace of Falmouth; his mother, Emma Jones of Dry Ridge; a brother, Harvey Jones of Independence; sisters, Naomi Ball of Wilmington, N.C., and Clarita Landrum of Dry Ridge; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 (Indra Consistory) and 8 p.m. (Orion Lodge). Burial will be in Gumlick Baptist Church Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Gumlick Baptist Church Building Fund, 1163 Hayes Station Road, Falmouth, Ky. 41040.
Michael George Brill, 48, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a riverboat laborer.
Survivors include a brother, Dan Brill of Latonia; and sisters, Karen Brill of Verona, Francis Gillicutti of Erlanger, Helen Jacobs of Covington and Lana Neat of Hamilton, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.
Joseph M. Cipollone, 45, of Erlanger, died Monday at his home. He was a regional coordinator with Virtek. His wife, Trudy Cipollone, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Jamie Binger of Erlanger and Amie Cipollone of Florence; sons, Jimmy Binger of Cambridge, Ohio, and Michael Cipollone of Cincinnati; his mother, Anna Cipollone of Cincinnati; brothers, Tony Cipollone and Phillip Cipollone, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Catherine Cipollone of Atlanta, Victoria Gallagher of Erlanger and JoAnna Hoctor of Cincinnati; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Jesse William Dotson Jr., 73, of Butler, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired meat cutter with Kroger Co., and a member fo Meat Cutters Union Local No. 1099, Cincinnati. He was a former grand master of Aspen Grove Masonic Lodge, an Army veteran of World War II and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Viola Kate Moore, died in 1984. His brothers, Billy Dotson and Shelby Dotson, died in 2000 and 1999, respectively.
Survivors include a son, Jesse William Dotson III of Butler; a daughter, Virginia Kate Brown of London; a sister, Betty Witt of Falmouth; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Pauline B. Gross, 79, of Latonia, died Tuesday at Village Care Center, Erlanger.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
John William Kearns, 72, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at his home. He was a former Harrison County circuit clerk, a probation and parole officer, and was active in court reform in Kentucky. He taught in continuing education programs, served as chairman of the Lexington Crime Commission and served on the Kentucky Judicial Council. He was one of the original members of the Kentucky Organ Donor Association Trust for Life program, a traffic school instructor, farmer and a storekeeper with Marshall's Store in Buena Vista. He was a member of Republican Christian Church and Elks Lodge No. 438, and was a past chairman of the Harrison County Democratic Party.
Survivors include his wife, Fan Rees Marshall Kearns; sons, John Michael Kearns and Frazier Martin Kearns, both of Harrison County, and Marshall Lee Kearns of Lexington; a daughter, Kathy Michele Kearns of Harrison County; brothers, Shirley Kearns Jr. of Richmond and Everett Frazier Kearns of Harrison County; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery. James Joseph Kennedy, 74, of Erlanger, died Nov. 30, 2000, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla. He was a retired clinical laboratory supervisor for Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, and a volunteer for the Erlanger Life Squad, Kids Helping Kids, the Florida State Park System and the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport Ambassadors. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Tillman Kennedy; sons, James Dennis Kennedy of Raleigh, N.C., Dr. Daniel Joseph Kennedy of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Michael Patrick Kennedy of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Marilee Kennedy Popolizio of Raleigh and Christine Kennedy Michels of Erlanger; a brother, Thomas Kennedy of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Katherine Bain of Erlanger, Mary Kruetzkamp, Ellen Meihaus and Ruth Kennedy, all of Fort Mitchell; and 10 grandchildren.

Ethel Graham Kuester, 91, of Edgewood, died Monday at NHC Health Care Center, Knoxville, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park, and Summit Hills Country Club, Crestview Hills. Her husband, Lloyd A. Kuester, and son, Terry G. Kuester, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include grandchildren, Terri Dole of Grayslake, Ill., Andrew Kuester and Bradford Kuester, both of Knoxville.

Rita Rebecca Levy, 66, of Burlington, died Monday at her home. She was owner of a public relations company. Her husband, Frank Levy, died in 1986. A daughter, Sandra Levy, died in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Carmen Levy of Burlington; sons, Charles Levy of Burlington and Victor Penberton of Petersburg, Va.; and one grandson.

Charlie Daniel Littrell, 87, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Hearn Littrell; a son, Frank Littrell of Louisville; daughters, Brenda Meece of St. Helens, Ore., and Norma Belcher of St. Louis; sisters, Rachel Cannon of Wheatley and Dora Ruth of Owenton; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Howard Edward Lyons, 80, of Southgate, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired carpet salesman with Sears in Cincinnati, a member of Bellevue Vets, Southgate Seniors and Good Sam Angels, and an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Dennis Lyons, died in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Dunn Lyons; a daughter, Darlene Heil of Crestview Hills; a stepdaughter, Pam Rhoden of Edgewood; a stepson, David Dunn of Florence; brothers, Frank Lyons and Jerome Lyons, both of Erlanger; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, followed by prayers. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Joseph Francis Manners, 76, of Villa Hills, died Monday at Villa Spring Care Center, Villa Hills. He was a carpenter and independent contractor, and a member of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, Elsmere.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Rechtin of Edgewood, Charlotte Lewis of Florence, Tina Manners of Florence, Jo Ann Manners, Angel Manners, Nicole Manners and Kristian Manners, all of Villa Hills; a son, Michael Manners of Crescent Springs; sisters, Ann Templeton of Queens, N.Y., Penny Manners of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mary Conigliaro of Holdal, N.J.; brothers, Frank Maniscalco of Brooklyn and Don Maniscalco of Long Island, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.

Christine Mastin, 87, of Covington, died at 8:42 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington. She was a retired waitress with Madison Cafe and Wadsworth.
Survivors include nieces, Christine Knight of Arizona, Wanda McKee of Texas, Linda Lee of Eddyville, Carol Schooler of Covington and Shirley Goodridge of Latonia; and nephews, James Mastin of Covington and James Boggs of Tennessee.

Eleanor Meyer, 75, of Edgewood, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired office worker with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Meyer; sons, William J. Meyer of Villa Hills and Thomas E. Meyer of Edgewood; a sister, Elsie Frazier of Florence; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Randall L. Sims, 53, of Cincinnati, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Mercy Franciscan Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a retired bus driver with Parking Company of America, Cincinnati.

Katherine "Kitty" Garner Wells, 84, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was an employee of Westheimer Brokerage, Cincinnati, and a clerk with Schilling's Pharmacy, Ludlow. Her husband, Harvey James Wells, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Wells-Rogers of Cincinnati; and a sister, Cytha Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa.

Chester Williams, 77, of Southgate, died at 1:05 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a retired self-employed bricklayer, a member of the Southgate Optimist Club and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Williams; a daughter, Terry Petering of Southgate; and two grandsons.
