Carol Jean Sabelhaus, loved her family, art and the community
Carol Jean Tedford Sabelhaus had a variety of interests that included her family, art and the community.
A mother of three, Mrs. Sabelhaus was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and volunteered at Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Mitchell. She also helped run the family farm and shared her love of animals with her children.
Her daughter, Judith Marie Morley of Sanders, said Mrs. Sabelhaus inspired her to become a veterinarian.
"We always had animals around the farm and sometimes people would drop dogs off, " Ms. Morley said. "My mother certainly loved animals."
Mrs. Sabelhaus 64, of Sanders, died of cancer at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was an artist and a member of numerous homemaker clubs, including the Napoleon Homemakers. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Warsaw.
Her husband, William J. Sabelhaus, died on June 19. The couple married
in 1954.
Her parents were ill about the same time, Ms. Morley said, and her mother attended her father's funeral last week.
Ms. Morley said her parents encouraged their children to work hard and contribute to society.
"They were great parents. We were very thankful for them, " Ms. Morley said.
Mrs. Sabelhaus, a graduate of St. Henry High School, was an artist who studied with the Baker Hunt Foundation in Covington. She was a member of the National Historical Society in Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Archaeology Society. She also had a store, Herbal Wonders, in Burlington.
"She had a nice disposition. She was very thoughtful, " Ms. Morley said.
Mrs. Sabelhaus is survived by her sons, Mark William Sabelhaus of Walton and Daniel Robert Sabelhaus of Carrollton; a daughter, Judith Marie Morley of Sanders; a sister, Dorothy Mae Donaworth of Bethel, Ohio; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Carol Jean Sabelhaus Memorial Fund, in care of Bank of Kentucky, 116 Old Stephenson Mill Road, Walton, Ky. 41094. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Alice Burton, 62, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a housekeeper with Camp Marydale, Erlanger, and a volunteer with Erlanger-Elsmere United Ministries and Florence Christian Center. She was a member of Elsmere Baptist Church and Brookwood Country Club, Fort Wright.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Jane Bleier of Florence and Ida F. McCormick of Dry Ridge; a stepdaughter, Fay Whaley of Hebron; a sister, Beatrice Polston of Somerset; a brother, Bentley Martin of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elsmere Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery. Harold Lester Crockett, 79, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. He was a retired design engineer with Sylvania/GTE in Versailles, and a former employee of Hytron Electronics, Newburyport, Mass. He was a former bus driver with Grant County Schools, a master carpenter and owner of I-75 Campers Village in Dry Ridge and Golden Tans, Williamstown. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, West Newbury, Mass., Williamstown VFW Post No. 1918 and Masonic Lodge of Lynn, Mass., and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Cleary Crockett; sons, David Crockett of Versailles, Harold "Babe" Crockett of Jekyll Island, Ga., and Tim Crockett of Frankfort; daughters, Lois Ann Blades, Debbie J. Lower and Ellen Marie Hall, all of Williamstown; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Broadridge Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Mary Ann Cavanaugh Elliott, 54, of Independence, died of cancer Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a company insurance director with Kenton County Fire Assessment Co. and a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include her husband, George Elliott; daughters, Heidi Bowman of Covington and Heather Wilson of Taylor Mill; stepdaughters, Cassandra Lynn Elliott of West Palm Beach, Fla., Theresa Rose Hardin of Erlanger; a stepson, George Joseph Elliott II of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Cathy Johnson and Patricia Lauer, both of Independence, and Linda Peddicord of Walton; a brother, Jim Cavanaugh of Edgewood; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Pauline B. Gross, 79, of Erlanger, died at 2:56 p.m. Tuesday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a homemaker and a member of Fort Mitchell Baptist Church and Fort Mitchell Homemakers. Her husband, Henry L. Gross, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Gary L. Gross of Middletown, Ohio; and a brother, Ed Bramel of Fort Mitchell.

Jeane House Hall, 70, of Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Falmouth, died Tuesday in Florida. Her husband, Alfred Hall, died in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Strickland of Vero Beach, Fla.; sisters, Lois White and Georginia Kimble, both of Daytona Beach, and Virginia Manley of Falmouth; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Eleanora Meyer, 75, of Edgewood, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired office worker with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Meyer; sons, William J. Meyer of Villa Hills and Thomas E. Meyer of Edgewood; a sister, Elsie Frazier of Florence; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Margie Esther Nelson Milburn, 80, of Alexandria, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a volunteer with Veterans Administration Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a member of Alexandria Chapter No. 337 Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of America, Bellevue. Her husband, Elmer Milburn, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Tom Buford of Newport and Jerry Buford of Covington; a daughter, Patricia Ruf of California; brothers, J. D. Nelson of California, Chester Nelson, Albert Nelson and Richard Nelson, all of Melbourne, a sister, Nancy Fairbanks of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Dorothy Williams Stephens, 77, of Erlanger, died at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Harry L. Stephens, died in 1996.
Survivors include sons, Stephen L. Stephens of Florence and David A. Stephens of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Sharon Phillips of Walton; a sister, Naomi Carpenter of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Kenneth Switzer, 61, of Alexandria, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired maintenance mechanic with the William Powell Co., Cincinnati, and a former coach in the Newport Fire Fighters Baseball Youth League and Newport City Schools Knothole League.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Ann Switzer; sons, Michael Switzer of Covington, Mark Switzer of Cincinnati and Matthew Switzer of Newport; a stepson, Robert Tipton of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; a daughter, Melodie Hubig of Newport; a stepdaughter, Jodi Tipton of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Sarah Barger of Wilder; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Friday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.
William F. Weber, 79, of Newport, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Place Health Care Center, Highland Heights.
He was a retired employee of the Wiedemann Brewery and a guard with the Internal Revenue Service, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Kimbrell Weber; a daughter, Dorothy Willoughby of Newport; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Johns Hill Cemetery, Wilder.
Robert Williams, 27, of Covington, died Monday at his home. He was a bricklayer with Blankenship Masonry.
Survivors include his wife, Christina Williams; a son, Andrew Williams of Covington; a daughter, Alyssa Williams of Covington; his parents, Doug and Bonnie Williams of Elsmere; half-brothers, Brad Barthel of Dillon, Montana, and Bill Haveland of Clermont County, Ohio; a brother, Jerry Williams of Elsmere; sisters, Laura William and Sherry Williams, both of Elsmere; and grandmother, Nora Grant of Covington.
