George 'Wig' Drahman, purchasing agent, golfer
Most folks knew George Drahman as "Wig, " even if they didn't know why. It turns out it had nothing to do with his hair.
"I finally asked some of his old friends why they called him that, and they told me it was because he couldn't sit still in school, " said his younger brother, Joseph Drahman, of Lakeside Park. "He'd always be wiggling in his seat."
George Drahman, 77, of Ludlow, died early Thursday morning at Village Care Center, Erlanger.
He developed polio as an infant and as a result always walked with a slight limp, his brother said. But Mr. Drahman wasn't slowed down, and went on to become an avid golfer, playing in various leagues.
He kept playing even after having both hips replaced, Joseph Drahman said. "He couldn't hit it long, but he could hit it straight."
Mr. Drahman had been a purchasing agent with French Bauer Dairy Co. of Cincinnati, and later was a security supervisor with First National Bank of Covington.
He was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow.
In addition to his brother, he is survived by two sisters, Nora Ungru of Ludlow and Mary Jane Groves of Crescent Springs.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Boniface and James Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Paul T. Arata, 76, of Fort Thomas, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a grocer and owner of Premier Market, Fort Thomas, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a cousin, Tom Bodenstein.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Church, 26 E. Villa Place, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Harrison Walter Bond, 83, of Burlington, died Wednesday at Salem Parke Care Center, Cincinnati. He was an employee of Indiana Wire and Steel Co., Muncie, Ind., and a member of Verona Masonic Lodge No. 876 F&AM.
Survivors include a son, Jay D. Bond Sr. of Burlington; a sister, Opal Miller of Taylor, Mich.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Vesta D. Egerton, 83, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. She was a retired operator and office manager with South Central Bell Telephones and a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton. She was a church clerk and a Sunday school secretary. Her husband, Courtland Egerton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a sister, Corinne Soots of Indianapolis; and a niece.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Mary Ann Cavanaugh Elliott, 54, of Independence, died of cancer Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a company insurance director with Kenton County Fire Assessment Co. and a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include her husband, George Elliott; daughters, Heidi Bowman of Covington and Heather Wilson of Taylor Mill; stepdaughters, Cassandra Lynn Elliott of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Theresa Rose Hardin of Erlanger; a stepson, George Joseph Elliott II of Fort Mitchell; her parents, Bernie and Betty Cavanaugh of Independence; sisters, Cathy Johnson and Patricia Lauer, both of Independence, and Linda Peddicord of Walton; a brother, Jim Cavanaugh of Edgewood; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Herman James Evans, 70, of Williamstown, died today at Grant Manor Healthcare Center following a short illness.

Dorse D. Hardy Sr., 96, of Alexandria, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Interlake Steel, Newport, and a member of Fort Thomas Masonic Lodge No. 808 F&AM. His wife, Nannie Hardy, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Dorse D. Hardy Jr. and Jeff Richard "Dick" Hardy, both of Alexandria, and William Hardy Sr. of Grants Lick; a daughter, Joyce Beal of Melbourne; sisters, Mousilena Lee of Foster and Norsilee Buchanan of Cold Spring; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Amerida Johnson, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a coal miner and a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a former worker with the Civil Conservation Corps.
Survivors include sons, Don Johnson of Alexandria and Philip Johnson of Newport; daughters, Ettia Herald of Wilder and Lizzie Jean Turner of Newport; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bernice L. Clause Lipke, 82, of Fort Wright, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a retired hostess with Wayside Inn, Fort Thomas. Her husband, Anthony C. Lipke, died in 1980.
Survivors include daughters, Jackie Ayres of Fort Wright and Jill Shackleford of Lakeside Park; a son, Bill Lipke of Southgate; a sister, Virginia Finnegan of Highland Heights; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
