John W. Rolfes, 86, loved to lend a helping hand
Whether volunteering with Meals on Wheels for the Senior Center of Northern Kentuc ky or encouraging a friend with a few kind words, John W. Rolfes believed in helping others.
"He liked everybody and everybody liked him, " said his wife of nearly 35 years, Eleanor Rothfuss Rolfes.
Mrs. Rolfes said. "He was a jolly fellow."
Mr. Rolfes, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a meat cutter for Feldhuses Meats in Findlay Market in Cincinnati and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Newport.
He was a member of St. John Men's Club, Senior Center of Northern Kentucky, TR5 Camping Club and Good Sam Angels.
The Rolfes enjoyed camping and Mr. Rolfes enjoyed helping his wife, particularly when she volunteered at the Senior Center.
"I was a receptionist and helped with Meals on Wheels. He would help me, " Mrs. Rolfes said.
"He was very well-liked."
Besides his wife, Mr. Rolfes is also survived by his daughters, Ruth Ann Little and Diane Westermeyer, both of Cincinnati; a son, Ken Rolfes of Lexington; a stepson, Steve Reichert of Melbourne; a sister, Carolyn Williams of Fort Thomas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Newport. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ, Park and Nelson, Newport, Ky. 41071. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
David Michael Arnold, 46, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Community Multicare Center in Fairfield, Ohio. He was an electronics technician with KDI Precision Products Co.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Arnold; daughters, Alicia Arnold of Cincinnati and Diane King of Columbus, Ohio; his mother, Mary L. Arnold of Florence; a sister, Janet Schneider of Florence; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
William Ballinger, 53, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at his home.

Audrey Auline Brimbery, 79, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at Villa Springs of Erlanger.

Martin L. Dunn, 70, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with the Kentucky State Highway Department and was a farmer. He was a member of Mount Olivet Church of Christ, Williamstown, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Fortner Dunn; sons, Michael J. Dunn of Williamstown and Mitchell D. Dunn of Wilmore; a sister, Jackie Smoot of Crittenden; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mount Olivet Church of Christ Building Fund, 2065 Heekin Road, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.
Paul Evans, 76, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Highland Heights, died Tuesday in Port Charlotte.

Judy Lee Gilbert, 49, of Florence, died Wednesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was disabled.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gilbert of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her mother, Blanche Mee of Burlington; sisters, Cheryl Grant of Hebron and Joyce Semon of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, James Perkins of Hebron.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Larry Hall, 54, of Villa Hills, died Monday at his home. He was a retired driver with Ludlow Cab Co.
Survivors include brothers, Jerry Hall of Villa Hills and Dale Hill of Falmouth; and a sister, Shelia West of Grassy Creek.

Russell Edward Jackson, 60, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. He was disabled and a member of Gum Lick Baptist Church, Williamstown.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lee Jackson; a son, Randy Jackson of Florence; stepsons, William Prather of Corpus Christi, Texas, Harry Lee Prather of Owenton, Michael Prather of Falmouth and Mark Prather of Williamstown; stepdaughters, Catherine Louise Vickers of Williamstown and Betty Ann Arnold of Dry Ridge; a brother, Terry Jackson of Dry Ridge; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ollie King, 88, of Alexandria, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ancil King, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, Thomas King of Alexandria and Franklin King of Hollywood, Fla.; daughters, Naomi Harp of Inkster, Mich., Geraldine Canady of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Deloris Kokot of Phoenix; a sister, Uva Arbutus Smith of Corbin; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

William E. LeVan Sr., 62, of Galax, Va., formerly of Ludlow, died Saturday in Galax. He was a retired auto mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Ada LeVan; a son, William E. LeVan Jr. of Clifton, N.J.; a daughter, Ailene LeVan of Florence; and four grandchildren.

Elizabeth Alma McClain, 94, of Independence, died at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere. She was a homemaker and a former member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Fort Wright. Her husband, Wallace C. McClain, died in 1972.
Survivors include cousins, Judith Eastridge of Independence and Janice Goodridge of Park Hills.

Howard Morris, 89, of Morning View, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Northern Kentucky Asphalt Co., Covington. His wife, Stella Mae Morris, died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Collons of Morning View; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wilmington Cemetery, Kenton County.
Frances Edwards Robertson, 85, of Elsmere, died Wednesday at Villa Spring Health Care Center, Erlanger.

Gilbert Scott, 65, of Latonia, died at 2:30 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington.

Haley Marie Sebastian, 18 days, daughter of Jason Dale Sebastian and Teresa J. Parrish, both of Independence, died Tuesday at Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati.
Other survivors include brothers, Jeremy S. Sebastian, Devin R. Sebastian and Justin M. Sebastian, all at home; a sister, Chelsea R. Sebastian, at home; and grandparents, Robert and Velma Parrish of Hilliard, Fla., and Jimmie D. and Brenda Sebastian of Crestview Hills.

Charles W. Suckow, 62, of Burlington, died April 19 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a former customer service supervisor with Gates Rubber Co.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Liptak Suckow; sons, Don Suckow of Florence and Dave Suckow of Burlington; a daughter, Debbie Burns of Florence; sisters, Betty Ray of North Royalton, Ohio, and June Szalay of Brook Park, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Dorcas Lee Wilder, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a supervisor in the men's department at Van Luenen's department stores, a nd a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Latonia and the Florence Order of the Eastern Star No. 559. Her husband, Ernest W. Wilder Sr., died in 2000.
Survivors include daughters, Jewel Faughn of Inverness, Fla., Colleen King of Burlington and Darlene Musselman of Florence; a son, Dr. Ernest W. Wilder Jr. of Burlington; a sister, Geneva Tyler of Louisville; a brother, John Wilder of Louisville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
