Ernest Rahe, electrician, farmer, company president
Ernest Barton Rahe raised cattle, grew tobacco, wired houses, directed an insurance company, cleaned classrooms and worked at a lumberyard. But even with his many skills, Mr. Rahe's greatest legacy actually may be what he did not do during his life.

For 15 years, Mr. Rahe was president of the Campbell County Home Insurance Co. in Alexandria. Before that he had been director of the company, which was formerly known as Campbell County Farmers Insurance.
Shortly after he turned 70, Mr. Rahe retired after 20 years as an employee of Hess and Racke lumberyard in Alexandria.
Up until one year ago, he continued farming, primarily raising beef cattle, his son said.
Mr. Rahe was a licensed electrician with the Northern Kentucky Electrical Authority. He was even a janitor for several years at Newport High School, his son said.
"You got to know my dad, " said his son. "He was always busy."
