Bob Saner 'could fix anything'
Robert "Bob" Saner fought leukemia for five months with a mixture of determination and unfailing hope. He died at 6:24 p.m. Thursday at Jewish Hospital. He was 54.
"He was so positive. He fought a battle and he fought to the last, " said his mother, Betty Saner.
He and his wife, Debbie, had planned to help other families deal with the maze of medical decisions that accompany the disease.
Mr. Saner, of Hebron, was a software engineer for ADP in Florence.
He was an accomplished home carpenter and helped renovate his daughter's and son-in-law's home.
"He could do anything. He could fix anything, " his mother said. "He used to visit me once a week and he'd kid me, 'Have you got my little list ready'? "
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hebron, and a former member of Corpus Christi Church in Newport.
During church festivals and bingos, Bob Saner was out among the crowd, selling bingo cards and tickets and making people laugh, his mother said.
He and his wife celebrated their 29th anniversary last Sunday.
Throughout his illness, his family and friends rallied to his side. His sister, Mary Ann Reinersman, became a bone marrow donor in hopes of checking the disease. Friends and co-workers will hold a marathon in his memory in June, as a fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Koehler Saner; son, Tony Saner of Mt. Olivet; daughter Nicole Smith of Taylor Mill; mother Elizabeth "Betty" Saner of Fort Thomas; brothers Rev. Daniel Saner of Augusta and James Saner of Batesville, Ind.; sister Mary Ann Reinersman of Taylor Mill; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Timothy Wayne Ashcraft, 48, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was an electrician and an independent contractor.
Survivors include his daughters, Tonya Marie Reed of Cincinnati and Wendy Mae Marksberry and Tina Beth Marksberry, both of Florence; sons, Norman W. Ashcraft of Crescent Springs and Timothy S. Ashcraft of Covington; mother, Mary Christine Wilkinson of Burlington; brother, Norman Christopher Ashcraft of Warsaw; and sisters, Toni Elaine English of Austin, Texas, Theresa Kay Christman of San Diego, Tammy Christine Simpson of Edgewood, Melissa Dean Stewart of Independence and Terry Lynn Clem and Tina Beth Crawford, both of Florence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at TLC Cremation and Funeral Services, Covington. There will be no visitation. Cremation will be in Baxter Cremation Services, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Welcome House, 205 Pike St., Covington, Ky. 41011.
Karen Ruth Beiting, 36, of California, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday at her home. She worked in data entry fo Mycomm Enterprises, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Philip Beiting of California; parents, Charles and Carolyn Schlosser, both of Alexandria; brothers, Rick Schlosser of Melbourne and Mike Schlosser of Sunrise, Fla.; sisters, Connie Gosney of Butler, Debbie Zappa of Alexandria and Kathy Neal of Cincinnati; and grandmother, Cora Pope of Alexandria.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

John Moreland Bradford, 80, formerly of Butler, died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Lexington. He was a farmer and an Army veteran.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Donald Brashear, 62, of Florence, died Friday at his home.
He worked in sales for Globe Furniture, Furniture Fair and Hadley Carpets, and was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Heimbrock of Florence; daughters, Lisa Arens of Hebron and Mindy Sydnor of California; sons, Christopher Brashear of Edgewood and Robert Brashear of Hebron; mother, Ada Sexton of Devon; sister, Georgeann Huetcher of Wilmington, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Edith Lee Cole, 84, of Covington, died at 6:25 p.m. Thursday at Baptist Village Care Center, Erlanger.
She was a homemaker, member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Dayton, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Rosebud Chapter No. 39. Her husband, T. Raymond Cole, died in 1958.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen R. Cole of Latonia and Linda L. Moore of Taylor Mill; brothers, B. Clifford Tinnell of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Howard C. Tinnell of Crescent Park; sister, Winona Wiehe of Lockland, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Henry Sanford "Red" Collins Jr., 74, of Mays Lick, died Thursday at his home. He was a farmer, a former floor manager for Simon Kenton Tobacco Warehouse, Maysville, and most recently worked for Elden Ginn in the tobacco warehouse business. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville, a charter member of the Mays Lick Lions Club, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Whaley Collins of Mays Lick; daughter, Connie Pohlgeers of Taylor Mill; sisters, Mrs. Eddie Galleastein and Annelle Weber, both of Maysville; and brothers, J.T. Ruth V. Dziech, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.
She was an office clerk for Brendamores and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Newport, and the Campbell County Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Julius Dziech, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Crabtree of Lexington; and sons, David Dziech of Fort Thomas and Robert W. Dziech of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. MondayM21 at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

His wife, Mary Catherine "Kay" Smith, died in 1992.
