Jack C. Pearl, 81, inspired family with love of books
Jack C. Pearl was a voracious reader whose hobby inspired his children and grandchildren, who loved hearing stories, said his daughter, JoAnn Allor of Burlington.
"He had a good sense of humor and knew a lot about a lot of things, " Ms. Allor said. "He never stopped learning, and that set a good example for us."
Mr. Pearl, 81, of Erlanger, died Thursday at Villa Spring Convalescent Center, Erlanger. He was a retired electrician for General Motors Corp.
Mr. Pearl was born in Pineville, and his family can trace its roots in the Bluegrass to the 1700s, his daughter said.
One relative was a circuit judge in Kentucky, Ms. Allor said.
Mr. Pearl believed in keeping his mind sharp. He bought a computer several years ago to learn about the Internet, his daughter said.
"He had a lot of interests, " Ms. Allor said.
Besides Ms. Allor, survivors include another daughter, Kim Green of Carocq, Mich.; sons, Jack D. Pearl of Lorain, Ohio, and Daniel T. Pearl of Cliocq, Mich.; sisters, Dorothy Fuson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Willie Jean Richardson of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Co., Cincinnati. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Thelma Rea Arthur, 68, of Wilder, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Albert D. Arthur, died in 1998.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Perry of Cold Spring and Rita Arthur of Wilder; and brother, James Alcorn of Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arthur Family Cemetery, London.
Edith Mae Criswell Bach, 75, of Independence, died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired employee of the Bank of Independence.
Survivors include her husband, John Edward Bach Sr. of Independence; and son, John E. Bach Jr. of Independence.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Independence Christian Church, 5221 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky. 41015; or Salvation Army, 1806 Scott St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Hattie Mae Dupree, 88, of Covington, died Sunday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Chapel CME Church, Covington. There will be no visitation.

Thetus Gribble, 76, of Latonia, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Covington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine, Covington.
Survivors include sons, Raymond Gribble of Killeen, Texas, Richard Gribble of Lakeland, Fla., Robert Gribble of Dry Ridge, and Rodney Gribble and Russell Gribble II, both of Covington; daughter, Melody Brumfield of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Faye Adams of Newport; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Charles William Kinman, 75, of Carrollton, died Friday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, La Grange. He was retired from Reliance Electric, was a farmer and a member of Open Door Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Kinman of Carrollton; daughters, Millie Riley of Campbellsburg, Joyce Backus of Canaan, Ind., Sherry O'Neal of Madison, Ind., and Linda Robbins and Janie Smith, both of Carrollton; sons, Herbert Kinman, Ronnie Kinman and Daniel Kinman, all of Carrollton; sisters, Loretta Wilker of Sarasota, Fla., Renie Jackson of Baltimore, Md., and Wanda Brown of Worthville; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Margaret V. Lindsey, 71, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Covington, died April 25 in Tampa. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Lindsey of Tampa; daughters, Tina Linardic of Tampa, Arlene Lindsey of Berry, Delores Riggs of Oregon and Trudy Nunelly of Falmouth; sons, Thomas Lindsey Jr. of Wake Forest, N.C., Allen Shepard of Miami, Fla., Mark Lindsey of Berry, James Shepard and Johnny Shepard, both of Morehead, and Ricky Lindsey and Sheldon Lindsey, both of Falmouth; brothers, Jerry Mardis of Covington and John Mardis of Independence; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Floral Hills cemetery Chapel, Taylor Mill.

Gordon George Luessen, 75, of Sammamish, Wash., and formerly of Kenton Hills, died May 16.
He was a retired engineer with Boeing.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Due Luessen of Sammamish; sons, Chris G. Luessen of Redmond, Wash., Brian R. Luessen of Sammamish, Ronald E. Luessen of Fall City, Wash., Warren P. Luessen and Deron A. Luessen, both of Bothell, Wash.; daughter, Bonnie Roylance of Sammamish; and brother, Albert J. Luessen of Erlanger.

Kenneth Eugene Parman, 69, of Villa Hills, died Wednesday in Panama City, Fla., where he was vacationing. He was CEO and president of Ecology Equipment Inc., Fort Mitchell, a member of Fort Mitchell Baptist Church and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his sons, Greg Parman of Jefferson City, Tenn.; Jeff Parman of Lexington and Glenn Parman of Fort Mitchell; daughters, Lynne Wolfe of Georgetown and Maria Bohanan of Versailles; sisters, Sarah Hatton of Monticello, Kitty Hilton of Georgetown and Carolyn Frazier of Marietta, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church. Reba Whitley Sample, 56, of Crittenden, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a former employee of Metro Containers, Norwood, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Sample of Crittenden; sons, Randy Whitley of Ringgold, Ga., Stacey Whitley of Rossville, Ga., and Ronald Sample Jr. of Spartanburg, S.C.; daughters, Carmella Whitley of Chickamauga, Ga., and Amanda Sample of Birmingham, Ala.; brothers, Homer Guffey of Rossville, Ga., and Robert Guffey of Higdon, Ala.; sisters, Dorothy Lowery of Crossville, Ala., and Nina Grace of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.

Luther Teegarden Jr., 72, of Falmouth, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a maintenance worker for Rinks, Griffin Industry and Pendleton County Youth Fair.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Eliza Teegarden of Falmouth; sons, Billy Teegarden of Walton, Luther Teegarden of Grant County and Roy Teegarden of Morning View; brother, Ronald Teegarden of Falmouth; sisters, Alma Lea of Falmouth, Elnora Goins of Butler and Mary Claypool of Oddville; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Visitation will be from noon today until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Frances R. Vance, 76, of Alexandria, formerly of Bellevue, died Thursday at her home.
Survivors include her daughters, Rae Clark of New Baltimore, Ohio, and Barb Gastright of Charleston, S.C.; son, Terry Vance of Alexandria; sisters, Ginny Macht of Dayton and Alice Schappell of Texas; brothers, Clark Parker of Brookville, Elmer Parker of Newton, Ohio, Jack Parker of Highland Heights, Richard Parker of Moscow, Ohio, and Tony Parker of Amelia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Frances E. Vuturo, 78, of Brookville, Ind., formerly of Florence, died Friday at Brookville Health Care Center. She was a homemaker, waitress and private duty nurse. Her husband, Benjamin Vuturo, died in 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda L. Nagel of Brookville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
