Alice Richardson, chief's widow, fed many officers
Alice Gray Richardson fed her share of policemen over the years.
The kitchen was always a special place in Mrs. Richardson's home and, as the wife of the late Kenton County Police Chief R. C. Richardson, she served up countless dinners to law men, said her daughter, Alta Gail Waters of Edgewood.
"She always cooked enough for the whole neighborhood, " recalled Mrs. Waters. "She used to feed the county police. Just about every night somebody who was on night shift was over for dinner."
Mrs. Richardson, 82, of Edgewood, died Tuesday at her home.
She taught at Kenton County schools - mostly in junior high grades - and was a member of Independence Christian Church and a Red Cross volunteer nurse during World War II, working at St. Elizabeth.
But she lived for her family, said Mrs. Waters. "She was the most family-oriented person I've ever seen. Her family came first no matter what.
"She was a teacher when I had my first daughter. She retired that year becuase she was going to be a full-time grandma."
