Floe Gay, 71, focused on family
Floe Gay put family first.
"She was always filled with lots and lots of love and affection for her entire family, " said daughter Sandra Hagedorn of Cold Spring.
"She was a kind, loving person, " Mrs. Hagedorn said, and it was difficult to catch her mother without a smile on her face.
"She brightened everyone's day, " she said. "She was a truly special person.
Floe Gay, 71, of Cold Spring, died Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington.
Mrs. Gay came to Northern Kentucky with her family from the hills of Owsley County when she was 14 and took a job at the Albee Theater in Cincinnati. She married
Fred Gay, a neighborhood friend, a few years later. The two eventually bought a house in Florence, where they raised their family. Her husband died in 1997.
Survivors also include a son, Richard Gay of Crestview Hills; a daughter, Mary Lillard of Crittenden; a brother, Cornie Allen of Berea; sisters, Eva Deaton of Beattyville, Julia Middleton of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Oma Scott of Booneville; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of Christ, Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Abner-Eversole Cemetery, Owsley County. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203; or First Church of Christ, 6080 Camp Ernst Road, Florence, Ky. 41042. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Gordon Adkins, 80, of Ludlow, died at 9 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Katherine R. Bellew, 77, of Erlanger, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.
Edwin C. Bridley, 90, of Florence, died Friday at Woods-point Nursing Home, Florence. He was a machinist, and a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Lakeside Park and Bond Hill Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati. His wife, Iley Isabelle Bridley, died in 1984.
Survivors include sons, Edwin E. Bridley and Trenton C. Bridley, both of Burlington; a daughter, Beverly Joyce South of Gardendale, Ala.; a sister, Agnes Stone of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. Carley Lynn Canfield, daughter of Stephen and Christina Canfield of Florence, was stillborn Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Other survivors include brothers, Corey Canfield and Christopher Canfield, both of Florence; and grandparents, Corwin and Rebecca Paris of Florence, William Wright of Florence, and Karen and Chuck Weddle of Florence.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, is handling arrangements.
Theresa Ann Comer, 32, of Springboro, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Lywell Nixon; her mother, Rosella May Wilson of Covington; sons, Harper Comer III and Domnic Comer, both of Covington; a daughter, Raeshaun Comer of Crittenden; brothers, Joe Krebs of Erlanger, Ronnie Becker and Samuel Lee Wilson, both of Newport; and sisters, Angela Compton of Crittenden and Rose Marie Bruner of Covington.

Mary Lena Hardin, 92, of Deer Park, Texas, formerly of Covington, died Friday in Deer Park. She was a retired employee of Stewart Iron Works, Covington, and a past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Covington. Her husband, John Berry Hardin, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary L. Coyne of Pasadena, Texas; a son, John A. Hardin of Woodlake, Texas; half-sisters, Inez Purdom of Springfield and Vena Bierbaum of Louisville; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pasadena, Texas, Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Park East Cemetery, Pasadena.
Dorothy Heideman, 83, of Covington, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Church, Covington. Her husband, Joseph H. Heideman, died in 1982.
Survivors include sons, Rick Heideman of Maysville and Greg Heideman of Hyde Park, N.Y.; a daughter, Judy Kampsen of Independence; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

John Oldham, 93, of Edgewood, died Friday at his home. He was a truck driver with Lucas Motor Freight Express and a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 100, Cincinnati. His first wife, Margaret Oldham, died in 1974. His second wife, Susan Mary Oldham, died in 1997. A son, Billy Oldham, died in 1986.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Howell of Erlanger, Nancy Kiser of Fort Mitchell and Betty Wogenstahl of Edgewood; sons, Ted Oldham of Hollywood, Fla., and Don Oldham of Fort Myers, Fla.; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret M. Niehaus Olding, 88, of Highland Heights and Covington, died at 1:37 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Olding of Alexandria; sisters, Helen Koors and Carolyn Ernst, both of Florence; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mildred Earlene Prow, 76, of Earlington, died at 11 p.m. Friday at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home, Madisonville. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Earlington. Her first husband, Walter A. Beeny, died in 1950 and her second husband, Alvie E. Prow, died in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty Beeny Bevill of Earlington; sons, Ronald Wayne Beeny of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Samuel Earl Beeny Sr. of Hanson and Edward Prow of Covington; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesda at Reid-Walters Funeral Home, Earlington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery in Madisonville.
Roy W. Schwartz, 78, of Fort Wright, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a fleet service clerk with American Airlines and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Mary Eileen Walz Schwartz, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Roger R. Schwartz of Fort Wright; and a brother, Lloyd G. Schwartz of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Douglas Austin Taylor, 47, of Florence, died Friday at his home. He was a conductor with CSX Railroad and a member of the United Transportation Union and Florence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Archie and Beulah Taylor of Florence; and a brother, Dennis Taylor of Florence.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Florence Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Marvin J. Wigger, 75, of Fort Wright, died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed grocer with Wigger Brothers Parkview Grocery, an owner of Burger Chef, Hardees and LaRosa's restaurants, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. A son, Steve Wigger, died in 1988.
Survivors include his wife Mary E. Wigger; daughters, Connie Aylor of Florence and Diane Wilson of Lakeside Park; sons, Tom Wigger of Louisville, Jim Wigger of Villa Hills, Jeff Wigger of Hebron and Dave Wigger of Lakeside Park; a sister, Mary Ann Feldman of Wilder; brothers, Jim Wigger of Newport, and Paul Wigger and Louis Wigger, both of Cincinnati; and 20 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
