Rev. Charlie B. Walters, pastor, farmer, businessman
Rev. Charlie B. Walters, pastor of Stewartsville Baptist Church in Williamstown, was committed to God, his family and his fellow man.
He served as pastor at three churches, sang gospel music with his family and inspired his son to enter the ministry.
He also was a farmer and operated businesses ranging from an insurance practice to meat processing, but made time to coach youth sports.
Rev. Walters, 65, of Stewartsville, died Tuesday morning at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
Before Rev. Walters was pastor at Stewartsville Baptist Church, he was pastor of Lawrenceville Baptist Church in Grant County and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Pendleton County.
Rev. Walters was a member of the Walters Family Gospel Singers, which included his brothers and a sister. He also was a songwriter.
Rev. Walters was a former Metropolitan Life insurance agent and a farmer, a former meat cutter and former owner of Walters Meat Processing in Williamstown.
He was a tee-ball league coach and coach of the Williamstown Yankees Little League and Pony League teams and a former baseball coach with Williamstown High School.
Survivors include his wife, Jean McClurg Walters; a son, Rev. Chuck Walters of Williamstown; daughters, Vicki A. Perry of Williamstown and Lori B. Henry of Crittenden; his mother, Develda Williams Walters of Dry Ridge; brothers, Millard Carl Walters and Tommy R. Walters, both of Crittenden, Rev. Everett C. Walters of Florence and Mearl E. Walters of Williamstown; a sister, Mary Scroggin of Williamstown; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gordon W. Adkins, 80, of Ludlow, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired receiving clerk with Mabley & Carew, Cincinnati, and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati. He was a former member of the Ludlow PTA and Ludlow Athletic Booster Association, and was a Sunday school teacher with First Presbyterian Church of Ludlow.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Phillips Adkins; sons, Michael Adkins of Cincinnati and Daniel Adkins of Taylor Mill; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Patricia Ann Brown, 46, of Newport, died Friday at her home. She was a cashier.
Survivors include her mother, Anna Mae Brown of Newport; a sister, Brenda Sue Brown of Newport; and a brother, Charles Alfred Brown of Newport.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Church BTFC, Fifth Street and Park Avenue, Newport, Ky. 41071. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Elvis Charles Dorsey, 44, of Greensburg, Ind., formerly of Covington, died Saturday at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, Ind. He was a gas operator with Cinergy.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Dorsey; sisters, Judy DeCrescenzo, at home, and Donna Jacobs of Newport.
Memorial services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to Fifth-Third Bank, in care of Cassidy Charlie Jude Dorsey.
Shirley Anne Perkins Duvall, 64, of Owenton, died Tuesday at Owen County Memorial Hospital, Owenton. She was a retired state employee with the Department of Human Resources and a member of Long Ridge Baptist Church, Owenton.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Duvall; sons, Phillip Duvall of Owenton and Todd Duvall of Frankfort; daughters, Vickie Duvall of Owenton and Michelle Perry of Carrollton; brothers, Raymond Perkins of Lexington and Donald Perkins of Owen County; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Long Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be form 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Jackie Sue Hensley, 28, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Shirley and John Ellison of Alexandria; her father, Chalmer Hensley of Stanton; sisters, Linda Negel of Dayton and Dottie Parton of Alexandria; brothers, Lynn Hensley of Stanton, John Ellison of Grants Lick and Wayne Ellison of Dayton; and step-grandmother, Dorothy Ellison of Cold Spring. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.
John James McCormick, 65, of California, died Friday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was the retired co-owner of Val Com Enterprises Inc., Wilder.
Survivors include his wife, Janice McCormick; daughters, Sharon Singleton of Alexandria and Lynda Seiter of Foster; sons, Jeffrey McCormick of Alexandria and Jamie McCormick of Brooksville; a sister, Violet Haynes of California; brothers, Orville McCormick of Butler, David McCormick of Carrollton, Richard McCormick of Newport and Kelly McCormick of California; and six grandchildren.
Services have already been held. Burial was in Persimmon Grove Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.
Eloise S. Smith Otten, 78, of Fort Thomas, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday at Baptist Village, Erlanger. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Virgil Lee Otten, died in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Gary Otten of Hebron; a daughter, Saunie Otten of Ludlow; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Mentor.

Daniel J. Schnorbus, 46, of Florence, died Friday at his home. He was a retired dock worker.
Survivors include his sisters, Mary Jo Flick of Edgewood, Ann Wilford of Florence and Jean Schnorbus of Alexandria, Va.; and brothers, Paul Schnorbus of Crittenden, Thomas Schnorbus of Petersburg, Mark Schnorbus of Cincinnati, John Schnorbus and David Schnorbus, both of Erlanger, and Michael Schnorbus and Albert Schnorbus, both of Florence.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Lucille Collins Smith, 74, of Walton, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a self-employed housekeeper, and an employee of Queen City Dinette, Florence, and Sizemore's Manufacturing Co., Walton.
She was a member of Walton Christian Church. Sons, Terry Paul Allphin and Albert Eugene Allphin, died in 1945 and 1957, respectively.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Smith; daughters, Cynthia L. Briggs of Edgewood and Jeanna Tracy Marcum of Verona; a stepdaughter, Madeline Weaver of Aurora, Ind.; sisters, Violet Marie Hinkle of Florida and Erma Jean Davis of Park Hills; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.
