John R. Kindoll, led family by example
John R. Kindoll was a quiet, patriotic man who led by example.
Mr. Kindoll was a truck driver for IM&L; Interstate Motor Lines in the 1950s and 1960s. He later moved into management before retiring about 20 years ago.
Mr. Kindoll, a former member of the Army Air Corps, set an example for his children, who learned to be hard-working and patriotic, said a son, Randy Kindoll of Louisville.
"He taught the fundamentals of surviving and succeeding and being honest and having character, " Randy Kindoll said.
"He was active in his church and a real people person."
Mr. Kindoll, 73, of Florence, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 100.
Mr. Kindoll was born in Sparta and raised in Northern Kentucky. He and his wife, June, were married
for 53 years.
Mr. Kindoll influenced his children, as one became a truck driver and several others joined the military, Randy Kindoll said.
"He was a gentle man. He was very kind. I don't know anyone he ever did anything dishonest to, " Randy Kindoll said.
Besides his wife and son, Mr. Kindoll is also survived by sons Kris Kindoll of Washington, D.C., Rick Kindoll of Lebanon, Ohio, and Don Nelson of Florence; a brother, Ernest Kindoll of Lebanon, Ohio; sisters, Louise Howell of Cincinnati and Mary Margaret Noel of Florence; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Benton E. Clift Jr., 71, of Silver Grove, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, For t Thomas.
He was a yard conductor for CSX Railroad, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Philip Church, Melbourne, and a member of the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey E. Clift of Silver Grove; sons, Benton M. Clift of Silver Grove and Thomas Clift of Alexandria; daughters, Margaret Lewis of Silver Grove and Diane Olberding of Melbourne; brother, Daniel Clift of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Shirley Fields of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Victor "Buck" Duncan, 55, of Latonia, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a security guard for Veteran Security Patrol and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Benny Montgomery of Bromley and Robert Duncan and Rick Duncan, both of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Cryshell Duncan of Denver; sisters, Bonnie Stetter of Burlington and Geraldine "Dene" Mann of Ludlow; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
W.C. Elbert, 70, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at his home.
He was a chemist for the Environmental Protection Agency in Cincinnati and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He attended St. Gertrude the Great Roman Catholic Church, Sharonville, Ohio. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Wilder, and the National Association for Retired Federal Employees.
He also worked at the Tax Aid Service for the AARP.
Survivors include his sister, Marion Ritter of Melbourne; and several nieces and nephews.
A requiem Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Gertrude the Great Roman Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Rosary will be at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Ernest H. Gamble, 71, of Erlanger, died Thursday at Village Care Center, Erlanger.
He was a switchman for New York Central Railroad and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Gamble of Erlanger; daughters, Eileen Nichols of Villa Hills and Alma Barth of Erlanger; sons, Don Gamble of Crestview Hills, Nick Gamble of Highland Heights and Joe Gamble, Ernie Gamble and Bill Gamble, all of Florence; sister, Ginny Abatico of Taylor Mill; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Dolores A. Moss Hoard, 87, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Cent er North Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a hair stylist and owned the La Rose Beauty Salon, Erlanger.
She was a member of St. Henry Church, Elsmere, and a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North. Her husband, Cecil Hoard, died in 1986.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha "Marti" Davey of Villa Hills; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Fannie Iola McCarty, 90, of Latonia and formerly of Falmouth, died Friday at Rosedal e Manor Nursing Home, Latonia. Her husband, Charles McCarty, died in 1997.
Survivors include sons, Charles McCarty and Paul McCarty, both of Independence; daughters, Rosella Spencer of Falmouth and Lois Miller of Newport; brother, Dale Turner of Demossville; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon today at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Octavia "Tave" Minogue, of Fort Thomas, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.
She was a retired secretary for Gustav May Insurance Co., Cincinnati. She was a member of St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas, Club 55 Senior Citizens Club and the Women's Auxiliary of St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include her sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cincinnati. There will be no visitation.

Lula Mae Moss, 87, of Newport, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Moss, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Winstel of Crestview Hills; sons, Harry Moss of Cincinnati and Harold Roberts and James Moss, both of Alexandria; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Felix Osborne, 87, of Williamstown, died Thursday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired machinist for American Tool Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church. His first wife, Lillian Stone, and his second wife, Grace Mae Souder, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his brother, Opal Osborne of Balsam; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Boubas of Dry Ridge.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jonesville IOOF Cemetery.
