Edward Niemeyer, deputy sheriff
For 18 years, Edward M. Niemeyer was a deputy sheriff in Campbell County.
Mr. Niemeyer began his career more than 20 years ago by protecting judges as a bailiff.
He later became a process server and helped transfer prisoners, said his wife of nearly 53 years, Phyllis Niemeyer.
"He really enjoyed his work. I think he was a valued employee, " Mrs. Niemeyer said.
Mr. Niemeyer, 77, of Cold Spring, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
He was a retired milkman with Clover Leaf and Meyer dairies and worked part-time as a Campbell County deputy sheriff.
He was a member of the John R. Little VFW Post No. 3186 in Southgate and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He was also a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Niemeyer especially enjoyed golfing and bowling.
"He was very outgoing; he spoke to everyone, " Mrs. Niemeyer said.
"He was a good husband, a good father."
Besides his wife, Mr. Niemeyer is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Bischoff of Fort Thomas, Lissa Steioff of Deluth, Ga., and Pamela Kochler of Edgewood; sons, Navy Cmdr. Lee Niemeyer of Great Lakes, Ill., and Lawrence Niemeyer of San Carlos, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Therese Church, Southgate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Memorials are suggested in the form of Masses or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Eugene Gosney, 79, of Butler, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a retired postal worker, a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church in Butler, and a former member of Pendleton County Fiscal Court and the Pendleton County Water Board.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn Duffy Gosney; a son, Stephen Gosney; daughters, Michelle Hines and Jacquelyn Gosney; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Visitation will begin there at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Butler Cemetery.

Chelsea Marie Hatter, 5, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati.
Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Patsy Hollifield, 71, of Latonia, died today at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Paula Marlow Rose, 31, of Erlanger, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a member of Scott Street Church of God and an employee of Hardee's restaurants.
A daughter, Mary Marlow, died in 1986.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Rose; her mother, Geraldine Wells of Erlanger; a brother, Layton Marlow Jr. of LaFollette; and grandmother, Jodi Collbrith of LaFollette, Tenn.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will begin there at noon Sunday.
Burial will be in Johns Hill Cemetery, Wilder.
Seth Lee Salyers, 23 days, son of Tina Beckham Salyers and Bryan Wesley Salyers stationed with the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska, died Sunday in Fairbanks. Both parents are formerly of Williamstown.
Other survivors include a brother, Logan Wesley Salyers of Fairbanks; grandparents, Don Salyers of Crab Orchard and Donna Thompson of Williamstown; and great-grandparents, Grace and Bill Bradley of Harrodsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.

Helen Steffen Wagner, 84, of Highland Heights, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
She was a volunteer with Lakeside Health Care Center in Highland Heights for 28 years and a homemaker.
Her first husband, Stephen Steffen, died in 1969.
Her second husband, Edward Wagner, died in 1988. Sons, Stephen Steffen and Michael Steffen, died in 1942 and 1971, respectively.
Survivors include sons, George Steffen of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Stephen Steffen of Newport, Thomas Steffen, Daniel Steffen and Donald Steffen, all of Alexandria; daughters, Florence Manhardt of Butler, Mary Lawson of Wilder, Betty "Helen" Enzweiler and Peggy Hoffman, both of Cold Spring, Christy Geiman and Karen Decker, both of Alexandria; seven stepchildren; brothers, James Groeschen of Highland Heights, Jerry Groeschen of Cold Spring, Joe Groeschen of Wilder, John Groeschen of Florida, Jesse Groeschen of Puget Sound, Wash., Jude Groeschen of Xenia, Ohio, and Julius Groeschen of Edgewood; sisters, Mary Catherine Seibert of Fort Thomas, Florence Enzweiler of Camp Springs, Georgia Berger of Delaware and Ann Groeschen of Cold Spring; 42 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria.

Helen L. Wendling, 80, of Newport, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a retired self-employed hair stylist. Her daughter, Ruby Bushman, died in 1984.
Survivors include grandchildren, Jimmy Ridge and Shannon Zier, both of Newport, and Virginia Latscha of Aurora, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Mausoleum, Southgate.
Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Monday.
