Robert Beeghly, architect
From hockey arenas and high schools, to office buildings and churches, the works of architect Robert R. Beeghly are sprinkled across the local landscape.
The Erlanger man spent more than 30 years designing structures as a partner in a Hamilton, Ohio, design firm where he developed a fondness for creating schools.
"He particularly liked the schools that he did because he could see where kids were using them, " said his son, Michael Beeghly. "I think he felt like he was making a positive impact on people's lives."
Robert R. Beeghly, 82, of Erlanger, died Thursday at Villa Springs Center, Erlanger.
He was a retired architect and partner with Winkler, Ranck and Beeghly in Hamilton. Mr. Beeghly designed numerous structures for the Princeton and Clermont County school districts, including Cincinnati's sprawling Princeton High School complex.
He also designed many Miami University campus structures, like the Miami University hockey arena. But, Michael Beeghly said his father's best known work may be the Ohio Casualty Companies complex in Hamilton.
Robert Beeghly was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Dan Beard Council and received the group's highest national service award. He served on the Board of Catholic Charities and was an elder at Front Street Presbyterian Church, Hamilton. He was past president of the Lions Club and a member of the Hamilton Elks Club.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, who designed amphibious landing craft.
His first wife, Bonita Jean "Bonnie" Lyons Beeghly, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Payer Beeghly of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughters, Barbara Anne Beeghly of Erlanger and Belinda Jean Beeghly of New York; a son, Michael Lyons Beeghly of Erlanger; a stepdaughter, Betty Sue Payer O'Maley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and three grandsons.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203; American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069; or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Sylvia Banks, 72, of Lakeside Park died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence.

Linville Todd Caldwell, 29, of Dry Ridge, died at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday in an auto accident on I-71 south of Walton. He was panel inspector with Lasco Composites LP, Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Hurst Caldwell; a son, Isaiah Caldwell, at home; a daughter, Makala Nicole Caldwell, at home; his mother and stepfather, Carol Souder and Glenn Baird of Walton; sisters, Dawn Caldwell and Mandy Maxwell, both of Florence; and grandfathers, William J. Souder of Williamstown and Earl Caldwell of Williamstown.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Todd Caldwell Children's Trust Fund.
Dorothy Cassell, 72, of Park Hills, died at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a retired cook with Turkeyfoot Middle School and a member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Florence.
Survivors include her husband, Cyrus Cassell; sons, David Joseph Stutler of Crittenden and Michael Wayne Stutler of Florence; a broth er, Gary Chambers of Camden, Ohio; sisters, Margaret Law rence of Lexington, Marcia Lairson of Seminole, Okla., Aileen Pence, Jean Tackett, Wanda Coffey and Diane Velde, all of Middletown, Ohio, and Shirley Bowman of Somerset; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Helen Bernice Davis, 76, of Ryland Heights, died Thursday at Highlands Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.

Richard R. Kremer, 72, of Cincinnati, formerly of Camp Springs, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Anderson, Cincinnati. He was a retired millwright with Interlake Steel, Wilder, and a member of Knights of Columbus Father DeJaco Council No. 5220, Alexandria. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Emminger Kremer; daughters, Lisa Maddox of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Rose Love of Wooster, Ohio; a brother, Elmer Kremer of Melbourne; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Church, Withamsville, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Rosalene Taylor, 98, of Augusta, died Wednesday at Maysville Extended Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Augusta Christian Church and Bracken County Garden Club. Her husband, Roy L. Taylor, and a daughter, Maureen Hopkins Colley, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Martha Kelsch of Augusta and Margaret Hohman of Frankfort; a son, Roy Art Taylor of Augusta; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Margaret Volz, 83, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Llanfair Retirement Community, Cincinnati. She was a teacher with Bellevue and Cincinnati schools, was the past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and Llanfair Resi dents Association, and treasurer of Teachers Aide and Annuity Association.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Baughman of Illinois; nieces and nephews.

Lawrence "Abe" Waibel, 72, of Newport, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a paper packer for the Nationwide Paper Company in Cincinnati, a member of the Teamsters union and American Legion Post No. 203 in Latonia, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Waibel of Newport; sons, Jimmy Waibel and Gary Waibel, both of Newport; a daughter, Susan Mersfelder of Covington; brothers, Freddy Waibel of Claryville and Gilbert Waibel of Newport; a sister, Jean Tabor of Owenton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling the arrangements.
Gerhard B. Wenstrup, 91, of Covington, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. He was a retired trucking company executive, a member of Catholic Order of Forresters and an Army veteran of World War II.
His first and second wives, Ann Wenstrup and Laura E. Wenstrup, both preceded him in death
Survivors include a sister, Mary Li Dutro of Cincinnati.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. Mr. Wenstrup bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Larry David Youngman, 52, of Augusta, died Wednesday at his home.
Survivors include brothers, Garry Youngman, Billy Youngman and Terry Youngman, all of Augusta.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Augusta.
