Roy 'Bucky' Wheeler, loved genealogy research
Roy "Bucky" Wheeler enjoyed genealogy research and took every opportunity to ex plore families' histories.
"He was really into it, " said his sister, Atha Stewart of Sanders. "He started by tracing our own families. He had us back to the 1700s."
Mr. Wheeler had his own genealogy Web page and loved talking about genealogy.
"He was very easy going and well-liked, and he tried to draw people out about their families because he was interested in their ancestry, " says Mrs. Stewart.
Mr. Wheeler, 57, of Carrollton, died at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He was a retired service manager with Pepsi-Cola and a member of Sparta Baptist Church.
Mr. Wheeler loved working for Pepsi, and collected Pepsi memorabilia, according to his sister. He also enjoyed Reds baseball.
One of the family's fondest memories is of Mr. Wheeler and his sister, Grace Jones of Warsaw, going skating together as children.
"They used to go roller skating at a tent roller skating rink, " Mrs. Stewart said.
Mr. Wheeler also will be remembered for a keen sense of humor, said his sister, noting that he was quick with the one-liner.
In addition to his sisters, survivors include a daughter, Danielle Wheeler of Carrollton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight in the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery.
James Edward Aldridge, 64, of Worthville, died Wednesday at University Medical Center, Louisville. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include daughters, Audrianna Henson, Charlotte Henson and Shanda Henson, all of Bedford, and Mandy Henson and Tina Henson, both of Worthville; sons, Ernest Aldridge and Bill Aldridge, both of Bedford, Glenn Aldridge of Hanover, Ind., Frankie Aldridge of Ghent and Jonathan Aldridge of Worthville; brothers, Alvin Aldridge of Sanders and Jesse Raisor of Carrollton; and several grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Michael Edward Brandenburg, 45, of Independence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a former owner of Country Acres Greenhouse in Ravenna and Brandy's Ice Cream Shop, Covington. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Middlesboro.
Survivors include his parents, Donald Edward and Kaye Moberly Brandenburg of Independence; and a sister, Donna Jean Brandenbrug of Independence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home, Irvine. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moberly Cemetery, Irvine.
Kathleen Browning, 79, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Falmouth. She was an employee of the Pendleton County Community Action Center and a retired employee of Disabled American Veterans. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Falmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Browning of Falmouth; two grandsons and one great- grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Arthur Fred Gardner Jr., 39, of Florence, died Tuesday at his home. He was a store manager with Goodwill Industries, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Sells Gardner; his mother, Margaret King Gardner; daughters, Rachel Gardner and Elsa Gardner; and sisters, Sharon Stefater, Karen Mazzoni and Sue Craven.

Ronald Lee Kroth, 64, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired glazier with Glaziers Union Local No. 387, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Kroth; daughters, Jennifer Dougherty of Butler, Pam Banta of Falmouth, Robyn Doersam of Hope Mills, N.C., Mary Jo Moore of Falmouth, Beth Murrell of Southgate and Barb Turner of Winchester; a son, Ronald Kroth Jr. of Newport; a sister, Joann Little of Erlanger; a brother, Robert Kroth of Highland Heights; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Bill Taylor Lathrem, 82, of Owenton, died Wednesday at his home. He was a carpenter and a member of Owenton First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Lathrem; a son, Billy Lathrem of Owenton; a daughter, Jeanette Wainscott of Owenton; sisters, Ruby Grammer and Eva Mae Giles, both of Louisville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John E. McGarr Jr., 75, of Erlanger, died at 1:28 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired locomotive engineer and a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union Local 489, Latonia. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bishop McGarr; a daughter, Ruth Ann Hall of Erlanger; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Marie Meyer, 100, of Covington, died at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.

Flossie "Turk" Moore, 86, of Brooksville, died Wednesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a homemaker and a member of Berlin Baptist Church.

Michael Payne, 49, of Latonia, died Wednesday at his home. He was a truck driver with All-Star Container.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Payne of Southgate; a daughter, Alicia Payne of Southgate; a son, Eric Payne of Southgate; a sister, Bev Mullis of Elsmere; and four grandchildren.

Mark C. Thornton, 35, of McCordsville, Ind., died Wednesday at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. He was a credit specialist with Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, a former employee of Clark Lift Co. in Indianapolis and a Coast Guard veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Susan E. Archer Thornton; his parents, Peter and Marlene Lipski Thornton of Edgewood; brothers, Brian Thornton of Erlanger, Bradley Thornton of Baimbridge Island, Wash., and Matthew Thornton of Taylor Mill; a sister, Jennifer Darius of Chantilly, Va.; and grandparents, Delma Thornton of Ephrata, Wash., and Helen Lipski of Edgewood.

Robert Kenneth Vendler, 53, of Williamstown, was found dead Tuesday at his home. He was a retired machine operator with Phillips-Drisco Pipe Co., Williamstown, and a farmer. He was a member of Stringtown Christian Church, Grant County.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Milner Vendler; a daughter, Melinda Vendler of Elsmere; his mother, Pearl Brown Vendler of Williamstown; brothers, Dale Lee Vendler of Corinth and Donald Ray Vendler of Williamstown; and two grandsons.
