JoAnne Mueller loved family, Taylor Mill
JoAnne Mueller dedicated her life to her family and her hometown.
Mrs. Mueller, 68, of Taylor Mill, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was a longtime member of the Taylor Mill Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary, and her husband, the late Richard J. "Moe" Mueller, was a volunteer firefighter.
In the 1960s, they were instrumental in starting the Taylor Mill Life Squad, said their son, Rick L. Mueller of Taylor Mill.
"They and several other people went to the bank and put up their homes and personal things to get the money to buy the first ambulance, " he said.
Mrs. Mueller worked for the city for 33 years, retiring in December as assistant city clerk. Her first city job was with the Water Department in 1967. She became assistant city clerk in 1995.
"She was an excellent employee, " said Taylor Mill Mayor Mark Kreimborg. "She loved everybody she worked with, and they loved her. She really cared about the city.
"She was a sweet person who loved to have fun.
"She enjoyed her family so much. They were very close."
Ms. Mueller and her husband had been active in the Covington Moose Lodge No. 1469 and Women's Auxiliary No. 985 of the lodge.
She was the first senior regent of the Women of the Moose No. 985.
Her husband died in 1998. Six months later, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She died after suffering a stroke on Tuesday.
The couple's first child, Linda Sue Mueller, died at age 3 of leukemia in 1955.
In addition to her son, other survivors include a brother, John Shirley of Latonia Lakes; sisters, Janet Gavin of Covington and Vivian Shirley of Colorado; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Frances Carrier, 96, of Indianapolis, formerly of Falmouth, died Monday at at the Waters of Indianapolis nursing home.
She was a retired forewoman with Wolfsen Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati. A son, John Edward Salzer, died in 1972.
Survivors include eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Shirley James England, 71, of Brooksville, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.
He was a meat cutter, an elder of Powersville Christian Church and an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Jett England; a daughter, Tammy England Reed of Falmouth; brothers, Ronnie England and Marvin England, both of Brooksville; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Powersville Christian Church, Bracken County. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Brooksville.

Helen "Gay" Finnegan, 58, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at her home.
She was a retired medical assistant and a former cafeteria worker with Williamstown Independent Schools, a member of St. William Church in Williamstown and an Army veteran.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Finnegan of Newport; a daughter, Kelly Gatewood of Williamstown; brothers, Ronnie Stanforth and Roy Stanforth, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Ronna Merz and Sally Lewis, both of Cincinnati, and Sue Erwin of Harrison, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. today at St. William Church. Visitation will be from noon to 2:45 p.m. at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Rick Freudenberg, 47, of Covington, died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a machine operator with Ticona Plastics in Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Callahan Freudenberg; a son, Jason Freudenberg of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Monica Freudenberg of Covington; sisters, Connie Freudenberg and Terri Freudenberg, both of Newport; and brothers, Chris Freudenberg of Covington, Greg Freudenberg of Queens, N.Y., Ken Freudenberg and Mike Freudenberg, both of Newport.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday at St. Benedict Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Memorials are suggested in the form of Masses or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Jerry Kiser, 55, of Florence, died at 8:43 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Leota C. Krueger, 92, of Independence, died Wednesday at her home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Island Baptist Church, Independence. Her husband, John William Krueger, died in 1999.
Survivors include five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Lester B. Maxwell, 90, of Dayton, died Saturday at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home.
He was a supervisor with the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky. His wife, Virginia Maxwell, died in 2000.
Survivors include a son, Gary L. Maxwell of Dayton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.

James Osbourn, 79, of Walton, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired pipe-fitter with Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local No. 392 in Cincinnati. He also was a eucharistic minister.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Cecilia Church, Independence, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Independence Lions Club. He also was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Ann Pullen Osbourn, died in 1996.
Survivors include sons, Dave Osbourn of Covington, Jim Osbourn of Denver, Bob Osbourn of Cincinnati, Joe Osbourn of Crittenden and Don Osbourn of Walton; daughters, Sharon Dwelly of Walton, Mary Baum of Provo, Utah, Jane McNeese of Villa Hills and Nancy Osbourn of St. Louis; a brother, Bert Osbourn of Louisville; sisters, Regina Proffit of Cincinnati, Sister Dorothy Osbourn of Nazareth, Sister Celine Osbourn of Chattanooga, Tenn., Rita Nicholas of Florida, Agnes Spaulding of Florida, Rose Thompson of Louisville and Ann Carlsen of New York; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Mr. Osbourn bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Sarah Jean Thaman, newborn, of Ludlow, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Survivors include her parents, Frank and Michelle Thaman of Ludlow; brothers, Anthony Thaman, Sam Thaman, Ben Thaman and Gabriel Thaman, all at home; sister, Margaret Thaman at home; maternal grandfather, Bill McMillen Sr. of Ludlow; paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Agnes Thaman of Burlington; and a paternal great-grandmother, Antoinette Thaman of Burlington.
An Angel Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Church, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
