Wilma Traft, knew people everywhere that she went
Wilma L. Traft seemed to know and love everyone.
"It didn't matter where we went, whether it was the grocery store or the doctor's office, she knew someone, " said her husband, Glenn Traft.
Mrs. Traft, 61, of Bromley, died Saturday in St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired manager with Bromley Laundromat and a member of Bromley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Bromley PTA.
Her good nature and her wisdom attracted people, said Mr. Traft, her husband of 45 years.
"She met people every day of her life at the laundromat, and if they had a problem she would sit and talk with them. I think she helped a lot of people that way."
She had a great memory for birthdays, remembering the birthdays of people she didn't even know very well, Mr. Traft said.
"I used to get tickled at her, " he said.
She once bowled a 200.
"That was a big thing for her, " Mr. Traft said.
She also liked to crochet quilts.
"She made a quilt for about everybody in the family, " Mr. Traft said.
"She was just a wonderful person. She had a good heart, and she never had anything bad to say about anybody.
"I love her very much. I'll always love her, " he said.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Garry Pete Traft of Independence, Ronald Lee Traft of Covington and Timothy W. Traft of Bromley; daughters, Mary Banks of Ludlow, Carrie Yelton, Missy Traft and Brandi Traft, all of Bromley; brothers, Bill Waddell cq of Independence and Ronald Wardell cq of Russell Springs; a sister, Wanda Griffith of LaFollette, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Pearl Thomas Baker, 80, of Silver Grove, died Saturday at his home. He was a crane operator with Newport Steel, a member of United Steel Workers of America Local No. 1870 and Highland Avenue Baptist Tabernacle, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Baker; a son, Pearl Edward Baker of Navarre, Fla.; a daughter, Louise Baker Steidel of Cold Spring; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cold Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert "Bud" Baldwin, 83, of Covington, died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Allied Chemical Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Schnitzler Baldwin; a son, Robert Baldwin of Ryland Heights; daughters, Lana Lawson, Dixie Kloentrup and Patricia Neuspickel, all of Visalia, and Sheila Jackson of Kenton; a brother, Lloyd Baldwin of Lakeside Park; sisters, Gloria Rawlings of Midway, Blanche Dryden and Beadie Baldwin, both of Visalia; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Piner Baptist Church Building Fund, 15044 Madison Pike, Morning View, Ky. 41063. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
Oram L. Brown of Crittenden, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.
Gilbert E. Chipman, 71, of Covington, died at 2:46 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired manager with Harry's Carpet Co., a member of American Legion Post No. 203 in Latonia and Pohlmann-Linnemann VFW Post No. 1484, Villa Hills. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Chipman; a daughter, Carol McDaniel of Florence; sisters, Roberta Doung of Covington and Mary A. Baker of Ludlow; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Martha Redd Cook, 84, of Corinth, died Sunday in Hebron.

Jasper Downard, 84, of Foster, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired employee of the former Fuller's Manufacturing Co. and a member of New Zion Baptist Church, Pendleton County. His wife, Ilene Elrod Downard, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Wilbert Downard of Brooksville; a brother, Roy B. Downard of Foster; a sister, Bertha Florence of Falmouth; one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.

Florence Ruth Edwards, 84, of Latonia, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Della Edwards, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dale Morgan of Greensburg; daughters, Jean Morgan of the state of California, Jacquelin Campbell of Shelbyville and JoAnn Fairfield of Latonia; brothers, Alfred Brewer of Leesburg, Fla., Noah Brewer of Dry Ridge and Del Brewer of Amelia, Ohio; a sister, Bonnie Dyer of Toledo, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Clinton B. Elliott, 32, of Crittenden, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown.

John W. Gay, 78, of Chandler, Ariz., and formerly of Petersburg, died Thursday in Mesa, Ariz. He was retired from Strathmore Press, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Sexton of Chandler, Ariz.; a son, Chester Harp of Petersburg; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery, Corbin.
Nancy Ruth Ishmael, 71, of Villa Hills, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was a retired teletype operator and reservationist with Delta Airlines, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Covington and the Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors include a brother, Lenox Ishmael of Deland, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

William A. Lockhorn, 86, of Fort Mitchell, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired postal carrier and supervisor, a member of the Knights of St. John and Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta M. Knollman Lockhorn; a son, Bill Lockhorn of Philadelphia; daughters, Susan White of Manhattan, Kan., and Jane Spaulding of Crescent Springs; a sister, Ruth Meier of Villa Hills; and eight grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was this morning at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment was in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Sandra L. Moore, 60, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Moore of Covington; a daughter, Tina Perry of Covington; and sisters, Dorothy Wick of Covington, Bonnie Lavoie of Wisconsin and Joy Roman of Austin, Texas.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Joseph Rupard, 85, of Erlanger, died Sunday at Village Care Center, Erlanger.

George "Bud" Robert Sparks, 74, of Walton, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a mill foreman with Bi-County Farm Bureau, Florence, and a farmer. A son, Dennis Sparks, died in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn F. Connelly Sparks; a son, Dale R. Sparks of Crittenden; a daughter, Donna J. Race of Crittenden; sisters, Nellie Toole of Sanders, Katherine Black of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Dorothy Good of Walton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Union.

Gladys Elizabeth Spaulding, 94, of Butler, died Friday at Lakeside Care Center, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker, helped on the family farm and aided in her husband's ministry with Pond Creek Christian Church. Her husband, Glenn Spaulding, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Garland Morgan of Butler; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
Harry C. Stephens, 74, of Falmouth, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired installer with American Sound and a retired employee of Medusa Corp. He was a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church in Butler and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Clarita Stephens; sons, Shelby Stephens of Fort Thomas, Stuart Stephens Sr. and Barry Stephens, both of Falmouth; brothers, James Stephens of Butler and Dwayne Stephens of Dallas; a sister, Rozella Crouch of Covington; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Butler.
