Robert Earl Michels, 76, found time for his family
Although Robert Earl Michels often worked two jobs to support his large family, it was what he did after work that his children most remember.
One son, Chris Michels of Petersburg, recalls the days he and his siblings spent fishing with their father.
"He worked two jobs most of his life to support us and still found time afterward to spend with us, " Mr. Michels said. "He took us on fishing trips that we will never forget."
A daughter, Gina Casey of Erlanger, will remember her father's garden. It covered two acres in Erlanger.
"One neighborhood boy told me that my father inspired him to grow up and become a farmer, " Ms. Casey said.
Mr. Michels, 76, of Erlanger, died Thursday at his home.
He was a retired route salesman with Chevron Oil Co. in Bromley, where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Bealer Council, Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 20 and the St. Henry Holy Name Society in Elsmere. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. A son, Bobby Michels, died in 1989.
Mr. Michels was raised around Edgewood. He loved children and was a good family man, Ms. Casey said.
"We had the house where everyone congregated, " Ms. Casey said.
Besides his son and daughter, Mr. Casey is also survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia "Birdie" Cahill Michels; sons, Jeff Michels of Owenton, Paul Michels and Bill Michels, both of Petersburg; daughters, Jennifer Meinhardt of Burlington, Mary K. Kriege and Julie Wendling, both of Erlanger; a brother, Norbert "Ted" Michels of Atlanta; a sister, Carolyn Steuber of Hebron; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Welcome House, 205 Pike St., Covington, Ky. 41011.
Stanley Grey "Harpo" Conrad, 80, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired Kentucky Highway Department worker, a member of Dry Ridge Christian Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his mother, Garnett Grey Conrad of Dry Ridge, and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Dry Ridge Christian Church, 13 School St., Dry Ridge, Ky. 41035.
Dorothy Mullins, 82, of Florence, died Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence.

Christine Hornback Muse, 75, of Maysville, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday at Maysville Extended Care Center. She was a piece worker with Lucky Stride Shoes, Maysville. Her husband, Howard Lee Muse, died in 1996.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Muse of Edgewood and Wayne Muse of Maysville; sisters, Ethel Arnold of Flemingsburg and Irene Reed of Maysville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brell Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
Audrey June Lukens Reinhardt, 73, of Alexandria, died Thursday at her residence. She was a former secretary for Campbell County High School and Travelers Insurance. She played the organ, piano and was an accomplished accordion player. She is also a member of the Northern Kentucky Hall of Fame as a scorebook keeper.
Survivors include her husband, Myron Reinhardt of Alexandria; sons, Randall and Gregory Reinhardt of Alexandria; daughter, Connie Hulsmeyer of Georgetown; sisters, Betty Drake and Beverly Bickel of Fort Thomas; and four grandchildren.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monda at Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery, Alexandria.
James Laban Robertson, 74, of Florence, died Tuesday at Florence Park Care Center. He was an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank, a member of Grace Evangelical Reform Church and a Mer chant Marine veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Sue Southard of Rego Park, N.Y.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Rozella M. Solomon, 80, of Corinth, died Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence.
Arrangements are pending at Rogers Funeral Home in Corinth.
Elsie Volpenhein, 100, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Carl J. Volpenhein, died in 1972.
Survivors include daughters, Dorothy Eschan of Union and Betty Jo Fischer of Southgate; sons, Jake Volpenhein of Southgate and Carl X. Volpenhein of Fort Thomas; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Ward C. Wente, 83, of Fort Thomas, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Parker-Hennigin Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Mirs Wente; a son, Charles Wente of Newport; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Barrington of Fort Thomas. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
John F. White, 75, of Covington, died Thursday at Lakeridge Villa Healthcare Center, Cincinnati. He was a former employee of the Alms Hotel, Cincinnati, and Sportsservice of Cincinnati and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Connie Heeb of Camp Springs; a sister, Bernice White Evans of Covington; and a half-sister, Ruth Beets of London. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Louise Ware Wile, 90, of Lexington, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was a member of Fresh Air Camp and Lexington-area family welfare and baby milk supply organizations, the Needlework Guild and Second Presbyterian Church in Lexington. She was also active with American Cancer Society events, with the Garden Club of Lexington and the gift shop at Ashland Henry Clay Estate.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph S. Wile Sr.; a son, Joseph S. Wile Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Louise Wile Helm of Louisville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A. J. Williamson, 60, of Visalia, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired self-employed land surveyor.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa L. Williamson; a son, Bobby Seng of Crescent Springs; a daughter, April F. Kleier of Independence; and one granddaughter. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.
