Dorothy Hempfling, homemaker and farmer
Dorothy Conner Hempfling's life was decorated with an intricate patchwork of history and nostalgia.
Her father, Hubert Conner, was one of the founders and directors of Hebron Deposit Bank, and Mrs. Hempfling was involved in the bank's activities for many years.
During the Depression, she played on an undefeated girls basketball team at Hebron High School.
Later, Mrs. Hempfling helped her husband Vaughn run Parlor Grove Farm in Hebron. The fruit and vegetable farm was in her husband's family for five generations, since being established by a German immigrant in the 1800s. Vaughn and Dorothy Hempfling introduced Northern Kentucky to the pick-your-own-produce concept long before the idea caught on at other farms in the area.

"She was very sweet, a selfless person, " said her son-in-law Terry Edwards. "She always put other people first. She did countless acts of generosity."
She loved University of Kentucky basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, reading, quilting and cooking.
Whatever she cooked was delicious, said Edwards. However, she was known for her apple cake.
