Clifford Bauer, attorney, Sunday school teacher
When Clifford Bauer, an attorney, taught Sunday school classes at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, he made sure his students had fun.
"He taught a group of high school boys and he had a wonderful time with them, " said Mr. Bauer's wife of 59 years, Bernice Goodhew Bauer.
"He taught them a long time ago, but they still remember him for this and they are still his boys."
Mr. Bauer spoke to his students about life, but he was never stuffy, his wife said.
"He was a very good man. He was just a real nice man, " Mrs. Bauer said. "He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was very quick and very honest."
Mr. Bauer, 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Fort Mitchell, died at 2 a.m. Sunday at Riverview Nursing Home in Cincinnati.
Mr. Bauer was born in Norwood, Ohio, but grew up in Florence and Fort Mitchell, where he met and married
his wife.
He managed a small loan company while attending Chase Law School when it was located in Cincinnati. He began practicing law at the age of 47 and encouraged his son, Clifford "Jack" Bauer, of Cincinnati, to join the legal profession, his wife said.
Jack Bauer eventually practiced law with his father and now runs his father's office, Mrs. Bauer said.
"I'm proud of both of them, " Mrs. Bauer said.
Mr. Bauer was also a deacon at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church. He was a member of the Cincinnati Lawyers Club, the Ohio and Cincinnati bar associations, Cheviot American Legion Post No. 199 and Golf Course Bogie Busters, and was a World War II veteran.
Besides his wife and son, Mr. Bauer is also survived by a brother, Robert Lewis Bauer of Fort Worth, Texas; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. David G. Allender, 61, of Holly Hill, Fla., formerly of Kenton County, died Thursday in Holly Hill. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include daughters, Donna Henson of Covington, Deborah Lawson of Norwood, Ohio, and Diana Trimble of Stewart, Fla.; a brother, Jerry Allender of Florida; and six grandchildren.
No services are planned. Woodward Funeral Home, Holly Hill, is handling arrangements.
Marion Elizabeth Allnutt, 96, of Covington, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Community of Faith Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Richard Allen "Allie" Allnutt, died in 1976.
Survivors include sons, Dr. Richard A. Allnutt of Lakeside Park and Dr. Charles F. Allnutt of Villa Hills; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Robert Butler, 60, of Alexandria, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Joyce Closterman, 82, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Mildred Kendall, 85, of Cincinnati, died Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a retired department manager with Van Leunen's department store. Her husband, Alva Kendall, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Bill Kendall of North Bend, Ohio; a daughter, Judy Curtis of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Napoleon.
William J. Monfort, 78, of Florence, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired bookkeeper, a member of Florence Baptist Temple and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include sons, Phillip P. Monfort, Melvin T. Monfort, Charles R. Monfort and William M. Monfort, all of Columbus, Ohio, and William Dean Monfort of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Marcia Austin of Milford, Ohio, Judy Ensley of Covington, Carol Grapentine of Tampa and Beverly Meng of Louisville; a sister, Georgia Courlas of Dayton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Florence Baptist Temple, 1898 Florence Pike, Burlington, Ky. 41005.
Roscoe Pope, 75, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a self-employed worker with Cincinnati Hearing Aid Specialist Inc. and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Rick Pope of Erlanger; daughters, Tanya Toll and Ronna Ash, both of Louisville; a sister, Laverne Hogue of Huntsville, Ala.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vernon J. Porterfield, 86, of Walton, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired checker and shipping clerk with Equitable Bag Co. and a member of Zion Baptist Church, Walton.

Georg Reick, 71, of Erlanger, died Feb. 18 at his home. He was an engineer with Krauss Maffei Co. A daughter, Traute Reick, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Marliese Reick of Erlanger; sons, Jeorg Wilhelm of Hamburg, Germany, and Martin Reick of Carrollton, Texas; a daughter, Birgit Elizabeth Reick-Jones of Berlin, Germany; and four grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Service, Cincinnati. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Vickie L. Jump Ruwe, 44, of Crittenden, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a supervisor with Choice Care Humana of Cincinnati and a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Tyler Ruwe of Crittenden; daughters, Mandy Gordy and Megan Gordy, both of Crittenden; a brother, Carols Jump of Crittenden; and sisters, Donna Stephenson of Dry Ridge and Merrily Johns of Florence.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William Thomas, 67, of Wellington, Fla., formerly of Latonia, died Feb. 17 in Wellington.
He was a retired employee with AT&T;, played the drums in local jazz bands and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Steven Thomas of Florida; and four grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 21 in Wellington. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling local arrangements.
Georgia E. White, 97, of Latonia, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
She was a retired clerk with Shillito's department store and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Her husband, Edward J. White, died in 1976.
Survivors include granddaughters, Barbara Cook and Diane Fessler, both of Latonia; two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Richard George Wolking, 56, of Park Hills, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Aurora, Ill.
He was a design engineer with Hyde Park Lumber.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Warther Wolking; sons, Richard Wolking of Fort Mitchell, Anthony Wolking, Douglas Wolking and Michael Wolking, all of Park Hills; a daughter, Nicole Silva of Park Hills; brothers, Dennis Wolking of Edgewood and Fred Wolking of Hudson, Ohio; and sisters, Judy McGovern of Fort Mitchell, Carol Schmeing of Akron, Ohio, and Beverly Henn of Fort Wright.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington.
Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Peggy Sue Miller Workman, 55, of Florence, died Sunday at her home.
She was a homemaker and member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Workman of Florence; daughter, Dixie Workman Day of Florence; sons, Marc Workman of Florence and Scott Workman of Independence; sisters, Yvonne Felice of Newport and Lois Coverstone of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Jerry Miller of Covington, James D. Miller of Cincinnati and William Miller and Marcus Miller, both of Crittenden; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at at noon Wednesday at Community Pentecostal Church.
