Mary Lou Heiert, supported those who served country

Mary Lou Heiert believed in supporting veterans. Whether as a volunteer with the Veterans Administration in Fort Thomas or as a member of the James W. Costigan American Legion Post No. 11 in Newport, Mrs. Heiert appreciated people who serve their country.

"She loved people who fought and protected our country, " said her husband of 16 years, Ervin Heiert. "She had a brother who was in the Vietnam War, and she loved veterans."

Mrs. Heiert, 64, of Newport, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Care Center in Cincinnati. She was a former state representative for the Veterans Administration.

Mrs. Heiert enjoyed playing bingo and helped found the game at the Costigan post in Newport, her husband said.

"I worked side-by-side with her on that, " Mr. Heiert said. "She could play a bunch of cards and cover them. She was a lovely lady and always had a smile."

Mrs. Heiert was a native of Campbell County, and her father once operated a county bar called Club Moonlight.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Heiert is also survived by her daughters, Cindy Kramer Curp of Blanchester, Ohio, and Cheri Kramer Traylor of Camp Springs; a stepdaughter, Jacklyn Heiert of Cincinnati; stepsons, Daniel Heiert of Cold Spring, Michael Heiert, David Heiert and Patrick Heiert, all of Fort Thomas; sisters, Margaret Pratt of Milford, Ohio, and Elizabeth Pohlman of Goshen, Ohio; brothers, Fred Maschinot of Melbourne, Raymond Maschinot of Goshen and Mike Maschinot of Fairfax, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Camp Springs.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation, 250 E. Liberty St., Suite 710, Louisville, Ky. 40202; or American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., Suite 102, West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Thomas Phillip Brennan, 75, formerly of Covington, died Saturday in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Brennan; a stepson, William Sutton of Nova Scotia; stepdaughter, Janice Blount of Chicago; a brother, Joseph Brennan of Union; sisters, Margaret Schulte of Alexandria, Va., Sr. Rita CDP of Newport, Jane Wynne of Cincinnati, and Marian Brennan of Covington; and three step-grandchildren.

Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

William B. Hawkins Sr., 79, of Taylor Mill, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

He was a retired employee of Fisher Body Co. in Fairfield, Ohio, a telephone lineman and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include sons, William B. Hawkins Jr. of Taylor Mill and Charles Ray Hawkins of Florence; daughters, Mary Ann Frederick of Newport and Janice Stanly of Ormond Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Jane E. Schmidt Hesler, 48, of Falmouth, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a former veterinary assistant and a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Falmouth, and Falmouth Rotary Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Pugh of Falmouth; a son, Patrick Hesler of Falmouth; a brother, John Schmidt of San Diego; a sister, Mary Ann Shields of Falmouth; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to Federation for the Blind, 1800 Johnson St., Baltimore, Md. 21230; Falmouth Lions Club, Falmouth, Ky. 41040; or Pendleton County Public Library, 228 Main St., Falmouth, Ky. 41040.

Reca Hewling, 65, of Latonia, died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Terry Lee Jack, 43, of Florence, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a splicer with Time Warner Cable, a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Florence, and an Air Force veteran of the Gulf War.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Fuentes Jack; a son, Ryan Jack of Florence; daughters, Jennifer Vreeland and Leah Jack, both of Wyoming, Mich., and Cara Jack of Florence; his parents, Robert and Janet Jack of Howard City, Mich.; brothers, Rick Jack of Whitesburg, Ga., Barry Jack of Junction City, Kan., and Daniel Jack of Portland, Mich.; a sister, Robin Arnett of Lowell, Mich.; and grandmother, Edith Jack of Morley, Mich.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Christ United Methodist Church, 1440 Boone Air Road, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, P. O. Box 4809, Palos Verdes, Calif. 90274.

Homer C. Jones, 80, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Robert H. Kamp, 85, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at 1:14 a.m. at his home. He was a retired teacher with Cincinnati schools.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kamp; daughters, Catherine Yearout of Cincinnati, Susan Kamp of Ashland, Ohio and Betty Swank of Plainfield, Ill.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Mr. Kamp bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or Mother of God Memorial Fund, 19 W. Sixth St., Covington, Ky. 41011. Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Linda Carol Kreidler, 43, of Florence, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at her home.

She was a real estate agent with Star One and a cashier and bookkeeper with Thriftway grocery stores. She attended First Church of Christ, Florence, and Decoursey Baptist Church, Covington.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Curtis Kreidler; sons, Mark Brandon Kreidler, Chad Everett Kreidler and Scott Matthew Kreidler, all at home; and brothers, Ronald Baker of Covington and Chuck Baker of Florence.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Linda Kreidler Trust Fund for her sons, in care of any Fifth Third Bank.

Robert Otto Kuntz, 74, of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired checker with General Motors and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Kuntz; daughters, Geraldine Smith of New Richmond, Ohio, and Margaret Branham of Lebanon; brothers, Carl Kuntz of Southgate, Earl Kuntz of Cold Spring and George Kuntz of Edgewood; sisters, Mary Truesdall of Melbourne and Catherine Richards of Newport; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.

Margaret Marks, 70, of Bromley, died Wednesday at Owen Manor, Owenton. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Elmo Marks, died in 1991. A son, Tommy Marks, died in 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Javita Reeves of Florence; brothers, Martin Bandy and Roy Lee Bandy, both of Ludlow; a sister, Christine Laughlin of Ludlow; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, Ky. 40601.

Martha Oldiges, 79, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

She was a marketing researcher with Burgoyne Marketing Research, secretary of the Mothers Club at St. Anthony Church, and a volunteer with St. Anthony School library.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Oldiges; a son, Philip Oldiges of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; a daughter, Emily Stamm of Fort Wright; sisters, Grace Busse of Fort Mitchell and St. Alice Marita Kern S.C.N. of Nazareth; brothers, Arthur J. Kern of Camp Hill, Pa., James E. Kern of Lutz, Fla., and Jerome P. Kern of Fort Wright; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.

Lorraine Rueb, 41, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at her home. She was an employee of Hillshire Farms and Kahn's Co., Alexandria, a former employee of the Falmouth Dairy Queen and a member of United Church of Christ, Falmouth.

Survivors include her husband, Konrad Rueb II; sons, Konrad Rueb III and Gebhard Rueb, both of Falmouth; daughters, Rebecca Rueb and Laura Rueb, both of Falmouth; her parents, Richard and Merle June Miller of De Ruyter, N.Y.; a brother, Mark Richard Miller of Courtland, N.Y.; and sisters, Teri Paddack and Nichole Miller, both of De Ruyter, N.Y., and Khristine Breed of Cuyler, N.Y.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Lucille Sendelbach, 86, of Alexandria, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hosptial East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Emmett Sendelbach, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, John Sendelbach of Cold Spring, Edward Sendelbach of New Richmond, Ohio, Louis Sendelbach of Melbourne, Robert Sendelbach of Peach Grove and Anthony Sendelbah of Cleveland, Ohio; daughters, Claire Neltner of Camp Springs, Linda M astin of Florence and Jean Zechella and Shirley Schneider, both of Alexandria; brother, Carl Beck of Bethel, Ohio; 41 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Rd., Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.

Athelda Bradley Smith, 87, formerly of Williamstown, died Wednesday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Helen L. Steinhauer, 81, of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Crestview, died Saturday in Lake Worth. She was a member of the Kentucky Club, and an altarguild with St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Lake Worth. Her husband, Lester Steinhauer, died in 1986.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Steinhauer Williams of Cincinnati and Gwendolyn Pinckard of Charleston, Tenn.; a son, David L. Steinhauer of North Palm Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Lake Worth. Memorials are suggested to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 100 North Palm Way, Lake Worth, Fla. 33460. E. Earl Smith and Son Funeral Home, Lake Worth, is handling arrangements.
