'Tim' Osborne, worked on his farm and at NKU
Clement Matthew "Tim" Osborne was a gentle soul who would help a neighbor or encourage a child. He also performed flawless work, but he is best remembered by a daughter as an energetic man who worked a day job then came to work the farm at night.
"He was the 'flashlight farmer, ' " working every day at Northern Kentucky University then going back home to work from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., said a daughter, Rebecca Boden of Dry Ridge.
"My father was an ordinary, down-to-earth farmer, but he made everyday work things fun."
Mr. Osborne, 54, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday while working at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights. Authorities believe he may have suffered a heart attack.
He was a retired employee of General Telephone but was working as a telephone technician with NKU. He was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Osborne was a native of Grant County. He and his wife, Judy Mann Osborne, had been married
for 35 years.
Mr. Osborne enjoyed collecting antiques and playing with his granddaughters. He was patient with his children and was a good role model, Mrs. Boden said.
"I hope I'm at least half as good a person as he was, " Mrs. Boden said.
Besides his wife and daughter, Mr. Osborne is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer Machesney of California and Mary Ruth Osborne of Meridian, Idaho; his mother, Mary Jump Osborne of Dry Ridge; a brother, Lowell Osborne of Dry Ridge; sisters, Phyllis Merryman of Dry Ridge, Charlene Wyatt of Florence and Rachel Chipman of Williamstown; and three granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jonesville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.
William Wayne Dance, 80, of Fayetteville, Ohio, formerly of Pendleton County, died Thursday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired automobile salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Jones Dance; daughters, Sheila Ann Jones of Hillsboro, Ohio, Susan Carol Walsh of Milford, Ohio, Sophia Mae Chadwick of Batavia, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Alanna Carol Fryer, 29, of Cincinnati, died Wednesday at Mercy Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati, after an extended illness. She was an employee of SBOP Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a daughter, Alexandra Nicole Fryer, at home; her parents, William R. and Sylvia E. Berger Fryer of Cincinnati; a sister, Suzanne Ziemba of Cincinnati; and grandmother, Evelyn Fryer of Falmouth.

Eulalia Noel Hatfield, 77, of Cincinnati, formerly of Owen County, died Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a dispatcher with Yellow Cab Co. and a retired employee of Cincinnati AAA. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Johnny Hatfield, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Lloyd Noel of Florida; and a sister, Ester S. King of Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will begin there at noon Sunday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.
Marion R. Rockwell MacDowell, 74, of Blanco, Texas, formerly of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at her daughter's home in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of All Faith Chapel, Blanco. She also served as food chairman of the Blanco Good Samaritan Center for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert "Mac" MacDowell; a son, J. J. Milton of Plano, Texas; daughters, Eloise Smith of Irving, Texas, and Susan Turner of Fort Thomas; a sister, Eloise Engel of State College, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

Catherine Lantry, 85, of Villa Hills, died Thursday at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in Villa Hills.

Loretta Dusing McKinley, 78, of Ludlow, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired billing clerk with CSX Railroad, Cincinnati, and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Fort Mitchell. She was a member of National Association of Railway Business Women. Her husband, William McKinley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sisters, Anna Mae Cunningham of Fort Wright and Florence Farmer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a brother, Franklin Dusing of Fort Wright.

Lawrence Scarpa, 59, of Worthville, died Tuesday at Owen County Memorial Hospital, Owenton. He was a truck driver with Watkins Industries and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Young Scarpa; sons, Tony Scarpa of Waverly, N.Y., and Larry Scarpa of Vevay, Ind.; daughters, Susan Ruth of Owenton, Tabby Scarpa of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Tammy Bonfiglio of Tampa, Fla., and Tina McQuire of New Jersey; brothers, Mickey Scarpa of Wallingford, Conn., and Guy Scarpa of New Hampshire; and 11 grandchildren.

Frances A. Schrage, 86, of Elsmere, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was an accounting clerk with Jung Products in Mariemont and a member of St. Henry Church, Elsmere. She previously answered the phones in the church rectory, counted donations and balanced the church checking account. Her husband, Anton H. Schrage, died in 1972.
Survivors include a son, Stephen T. Schrage of Union; daughters, Susan Burchell and Mary L. Burke, both of Edgewood; a sister, Matilda Brandner of Fort Mitchell; and nine grandchildren.

Helen Funke Sparks, 87, of Edgewood, died Thursday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a secretary with Baker-Hunt Foundation. Her husband, Russell D. Sparks, died in 1985.
Survivors include sons, Roger Sparks of Houston, Neal Sparks of Florence and Gary of Erlanger; a daughter, Ann Sparks of Burlington; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Fred Valentine, 82, of Williamstown, died at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edge wood. He was an independent contractor for petroleum services, a member of St. William Church in Williamstown and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Tabb Valentine; sons, Jack Valentine of Union and Jerry W. Valentine of Verona; a daughter, Joan Gamble of Crittenden; a brother, Milton "Buck" Valentine of Williamstown; and four granddaughters.

Mary Mildred Wiechman, 72, of Fort Wright, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Fort Wright Civic Club.
Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Wiechman; a son, Robert G. Wiechman of Fort Mitchell; daughters, Julia Ann Wiechman of Crescent Springs and Amy Marie Willen of Fort Wright; a sister, Norma J. Calderhead of Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren.
